Lindsey Buckingham: Going His Own Way | Broken Record
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2021
- Lindsey Buckingham’s signature finger-style guitar is perhaps as recognizable as the countless classic songs he wrote while he was in Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham is a self-taught guitar virtuoso and songwriter who famously joined Fleetwood Mac in the mid ‘70s with his then girlfriend, Stevie Nicks. The band had been around since ‘67 with various singers, guitarists and songwriters. The only constant was their rhythm section: drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. But the band didn’t blow up until Buckingham and Nicks joined, writing mega hits for their insanely successful 10th and 11th albums including the 20-times platinum album, Rumours. On today’s episode Bruce Headlam talks to Lindsey Buckingham about his new self-titled solo album. Buckingham also tells Bruce that he and Nicks never really got closure from their breakup, and how that affected their professional relationship in the decades since.

Lindsey the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac
/@0Q1
*cough,cough,Peter Green,cough*
Lindsey was Fleetwood Mac. They were lost without his leadership.
Call me blasphemous but boiling it down I could've replaced everyone except Lindsey and Christine, who was a great songwriter and musician totally holding her own and with that super soulful voice of hers.
The great Peter Green era was like a different band altogether, which also goes to show the power of such frontmen who play, sing and write like none other - the full package as they say.
Some members put on their sprinkle or function as "keels" that keep rocking boats from capsizing and that is admireable, but I'm talking about who are the actual sails and/or rudders of the boat.
Which Fleetwood Mac?
One of the most exhilarating singer-songwriters, and unique guitarist and honest performers. So amazing to see Mr. Buckingham live. 2018 Bethlehem, PA.
I love everything about this interview and about Lindsey and Stevie. I believe there can never really be closure in the area of loving someone. Its okay to still love them in a whole new way. It was meant to be❤ back then , and still today, it's meant to be in a special new way of seeing eachother.❤ what's most important is the lessons we've learned slong the way 😊
Holy crap! Lindsey loved DEVO !!!!!
This is the best interview work Lindsey Buckingham I have ever heard.
It's the most complete interview, as far as I can remember....... It's pretty much all encompassing, from childhood to NOW
Love listening to his voice. Thanks!
Lindsay's unique sound and perfectionism made Fleetwood Mac what it is to so many of us! Shame how he was let go!
I remember when Tusk came out. Wow years ago... left turn artist move ....looking back a great album
Love the background from childhood. Amazing! What a great study of music. Brilliant mind.
Very interesting interview, I didn't know a lot about Lindsey and how he started out in music. I will listen to more from Broken Record in the future.
Stevie said she broke up with him, if that’s the case why does she have such a dislike of him? If it wasn’t for him, telling Mick only with her he would join the band with her. We may not have known her.
There does come a time when you get tired of taking someone's shit.
@@jimmmmy41 agreed. Lindsay tolerated Stevie's shit way longer than he should have. He deserved better.
@@onlydaughterofRMS I don't know what he deserves. Stevie has said he is a controlling asshole and others have said he was physically abusive towards her more than once.
@@jimmmmy41 Narcissistic Stevie says a lot of things ~ essentially she lies & throws her band mates under the bus to keep her own massive ego afloat. Her bitterness is toxic.
@user-ls7iz3sq5f read Mick Fleetwood's autobiography. Buckingham has been physically abusive in the past.
Lindsey's (and Mark Knopfler's) fingerstyle electric guitar arrived at a perfect time in Pop music for folksy me back then.
The trick as an artist is to change just enough to hold people's interest, without sounding like your second album was made from rejects from your first album, but not so much that people say "What the hell is this?" Boston's second album sounded like rejects from the first. Tusk was a "What the hell is this?"
Excellent interview with good questions.
RIP Peter Green 🙏🎼🎼🎵🎵🎶🎼
Great Interview and very honest and articulate
the way Lindsey talks about Stevie and their story of going to LA is really nice . And how he says “we”. It’s like they’re married but taking a break . A musical marriage of course lol Definitely an interesting relationship
Lindsey is such a great soul.. I can see him getting chewed up by a certain member of FM ... who doesn't have half his talents. Thank god he is still alive, health first before fame, money or whatever. Great guy great songwriter and producer. The Paul McCartney of FM - without him nothing would get done.
This is a really great interview.
I think Tango in the night was awesome and had several hits.
It is the sequel to Rumours
Such a great podcast!
Great interview
I will be making a Major purchase to cover the Buckingham nicks cover for a few months
Lindsey& Chrissie seemed to be true friends❤😊❤
Thank u
Lindsey actually mentioned Kiln House and said Danny Kirwan was great.. 👍👍
I had absolutely no idea of the relationship dynamics at the time and i loved the band. so dont feel it made a difference apart from b eing interesting to hear
🎖🎖
nicks would never have been in the band without Lindsey
Interesting fact about the song Blue letter it sounds verny much like I know he's not the writer but I know he was in on first recording sessions did he change the course or anything because I was in shock when I found out he wasn't the writer
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 📯📯📯✨✨✨👑👑👑👑👑👑✨✨🎼🎼🙏🙏📯📯🙏🏿🙏🏿🎶🎶🎵🎵🔔🔔✨✨🎼🎼👑👑🎅🎅🎄🎄
In the thumbnail photo, he has a Glenn Close kind of beauty.
I don’t know what to think of Lindsey Buckingham. He’s for sure the most talented musician in FM. From what I’ve heard, he’s either a sweetheart or an asshole.
Looks like his hair is going it's own way in the thumbnail x
Bob welch???
Bare trees???
Future games???
Fleetwood MacDonalds!!
Well I guess if you’re going to get fired from the band, the ideal time would have to be after that band is safely in the R&R Hall of Fame and is otherwise tentatively defunct.
Hey, leave Dino out of this!
i didnt realize ellen degenerous was such a prolific musician
this is an old interview
How old? Sounds fairly recent.
@@hazydavo it's very recent
How old. I'm having a Deja Vu?
Interview September 29th 2021
I know, Right? I mean, like, who really remembers all the way back to Sept.2021? Is anybody else still around from those days?
Luv him but his speaking voice drives me insane.
I really like his voice. It's very identifiable to me
Do we really have to get so personal? He is very articulate. At least you can understand what he is talking about. Please give him a break. !!!!
@@user-md5zt5jr2f settle down chief. Everyone still loves him
