Great interview. Beyond Stewart's amazing drumming, I gained a deeper appreciation of him when I learned about his work doing scoring / composing and started to hear him share his encyclopedic knowledge of music history.
Same. My journey started from discovering he made the music for spyro, my first exposure to music as a kid. From there the rabbit hole descended and I said to myself. "Shit. I think I love music."
Although Sting wrote and sang the Police songs it was Andy Summers and Stewart that held my attention . Summers had a unique sound during that period and Stewarts drum playing was sublime. Just my humble opinion .
Steward Copeland is so articulate, not your typical rock drummer, banging away on the tribal skins. But the man can bang too. He's fun to listen to, as The Police historian.
I wonder if the fact that stewart's brothers were in mansgrment at A&M influenced sting to join this new band snd stick with it..did he know this before moving to london.
Any interview with Stewart Copeland is a treat.
He has a tendency to repeat himself from one interview to another, but he's such a good storyteller I don't really mind
I could listen to Stewart talk about anything for hours, he’s a great drummer too! 😎
I love Stewart's interviews, truthful, funny.
You can tell Stewart loves improvising with language - it is a fun ride
What a raconteur and intelligent guy interesting and also brilliant musician and insight into todays music Stuart Copeland is a top man

just heard 10 minutes but I can already tell this is a fantastic interview
I also started playing the drums after watching this amazing guy… thank you, Stewart…

I would pay a lot of money to hear that tape of Sting singing “Don’t Care”.
Great interview
50:29 stew daddy is a chaotic spaz but he always understands how things fit together - this is why he’s so amazing
YES!
An hour of Stewart interview - hell yes.
but audio only :(

Does anyone else think he sounds like David Letterman?
A bit yes.
He's got a lil Jeff Goldblum going also.

Anuzer insightful vid interview. Love stewart I do😊
Had a few beers and stumbled across this. Stu’s Police rewrote (via his brothers) the books, touring, songs, world domination…….
First, I guess? Big fan
57:01 Moby does play actual instruments, in fact you could see him playing them live for the last 20 years
16:07 "Holy gopher fuck!"
I'm gonna have to start using that one!

I thought Miles Copeland had an independent label called IRS records (when the Police were forming). Were they a subsidiary of A&M?
I had no idea he was a left handed drummer.
We all know that it was coplands band just like mick Jones was the backbone of the clash
😃
More hip-hop/rap music is created with live instruments than you think, Stewie 🙄 That includes old and new school.
He thinks Moby is Dr Dre, when in fact Moby plays more instruments than McCartney.
Pushkin was black
The fact that biopic movie wasn't made about The Police is a travesty. So much to cover
