    PERL looks the best I think but like you said doesnt last. Usually washes off for me in like 2-3 rain storms. I think DIY looks best on the un polished plastic. Yvan said the more chalky the plastic is the better it will soak into it. I will probably try the DIY stuff after i use up my Solution Finish

    DIY detail has some good products

  • @Reaper-Jim
    @Reaper-Jim Місяць тому +1

    None of these products are bad or irrelevant. However, that saying “right tool for the job” still remains true. There are “dressings”, “coatings” and “restorers”. Which one do you use for which application? For black plastic trim, specifically, I have had amazingly long lasting results from Solution Finish and DiY. Cerakote, which I am now testing, is so far so good.
    DIY TRP = the best results I’ve had. Kind of a “one and done” type deal … as long as you maintain it. Also, if you consider just how far the little bottle spreads, it’s actually quite economical.
    Prep is so crucial here, before any product application. I absolutely agree with you on this one. I use a high alkaline degreaser and scrub. I also use a rotary to polish but I mix OnR with some rubbing alcohol instead of polishing agents.
    Still using CG’s VRP on tires. It just makes sense for me.
    😊😊😊

    Been thinking about giving Perl a try instead.

    I’m glad you ran the test the way you did. Just like ceramic coating on clear coat, the panel needs to be cleaned out first. I want to see how they look in 12mo. You’ll have to drive around town with lines on your bumper trim!
    I’ve had good luck with Cerakote trim restorer, but it’s all about the prep!

    H.D. thanks for your thoughts. 2 products I like to use are Cerakote Trim & Malco Revive Nu. Both are long lasting. I've used Perl, but didn't last long. I have just bought Griot's Garage Ceramic trim, jury is still out? I've heard a lot about Lithium Trim Cubes, never used? I always consider where the product is made and the cost. If you are doing this in a business, the more you spend, the less goes back into your pocket. That's where Maloco Shines...

    I dont care for for the BLAK on the trim - too drastic a color change. Trim OE color is charcoal gray and now it's black - unless I wanted that, I might be annoyed (but not surprised given the name :) ) I like the Perl, but DIY Detail is probably my pick out of these.
    You should try this again with Cerakote Trim Coat. Some people will think it's a joke but it is NOT. The results and durability are amazing and it restores the OE trim color without blackening it completely.
    Nice video though Jeremy! 😎👍
