I did not expect to see such a huge difference among the brands. All did provide some hydrophobic and appearance improvements and first but exposure to direct sunlight and cleaning products had a huge impact. I bought all of the products tested. So, thanks for supporting the channel and I'm looking forward to reading you comments and video ideas! Thanks and best regards, Todd
Awesome video! I’m not sure if my comment from quite a while ago was inspiration, but very glad we now know which one to get and stay away from!
any chance of an update with the blow torch method? it's supposed to be permanent or lasting years anyway.. it worked really well on my newly acquired 03 Tacoma and only took a copple of minutes.
+Project Farm would you go with ultra penzoil or amsoil?
Project Farm this is why we follow you! Thanks!
What about glass sealants?
He talks fast, edits tight, gets to the point and doesn't blather on about his mothers apple pie or other nonsense! Breath of fresh air,
Thanks so much!
Exactly!!!!!
Yes and I don't think these long talkers who don't get to the point realize how horrible they are. The ones that take too long and screw around turning a 5-minute video into a 25 minute video I can't even sit through them I just exit. this is the channel I rely on to figure out which product to buy.
SWEEET comment 😉
Right. Cant stand these youtuber money makers that blab on just to get their videos to 30 min long.
Gotta give it to the mans dedication, 17 years in on his testing of the Suburban. Results coming soon.
Thank you very much!

Don't tell Mahk that lol
Need to drive backwards for even coating of the dirt
I can absolutely attest to the Cerakote. That stuff is magic. I coated my plastic trim at least 50 washes ago (over 3/4 with a power washer) and it STILL looks new and water beads right up on it and falls off as soon as it goes on.
Thanks for sharing.
i so sgree !!!
I just watched an hour's worth of content in 14 minutes. Crisp, concise, yet thorough. Job well done, sir!
Thanks so much!

Your channel is like what Consumer Reports *should* be. And your content is freely available to anyone. Thank you for doing what you do. ♥️
You are welcoame!
It's the useful information to blather ratio that sets PF apart. Half or more of youtube gets it the other way round: yadda yadda yadda blather blab blab info blab blab yadda blather yadda yadda. Whereas here we get 99% INFO! (most of the blather is from the words of the makers of these products).
Sometimes it's good just for entertainment value.

I like how he sits down and figures out how to do these tests that glass jar UV test was pretty slick

I gotta say it. I fricking love this channel. No one does side by side tests like you. Don't ever become sponsored, your integrity to true product testing is what keeps you unique.

Only because Eastwood's plastic resurfacer and Solution Finish trim restorer weren't in the test. I have several classic cars, and I've used many of these products and those two are far and away the best, with Eastwood being #1.
Chemical Guys seems to be a close second, but I agree. CeraKote for the win.

P&S makes a great leather conditioner. I use it all the time
For car leather I use Chemical Bros. Cleaner and Conditioner (two separate products that are to be used together). I am happy with it but I would like to see what Project Farm would find. For leather eval you should include lingering fragrance in the test.
I for one is surprised that everything was made in the USA.

How is that trim holding up? I've never found a product that lasts more than a couple weeks yet.
@@Tapport excellent. Water still beads. Still showing that wet black look. Best trim product I’ve ever come across.
@@evolv.e And for just $17, wow. I'll definitely pick some up. Did you order online or were you able to get it from a retailer?
Instead of the Cerakote headlight restoration, wet sand with 600 grit to remove the oxidized clear coat, then 1200 to reduce the scratches to a haze. Mask everywhere but the headlight. Solvent wipe to remove dust and spray with a two part (2K) clear coat in a can from Eastwood, USC Spraymax, etc. Three light coats ten minutes apart. ChrisFix and Paint Society have good UA-cam videos.
Hi. Really appreciate your thorough and no-nonsense approach to testing products. You have established a massive amount of my respect and admiration through your consistency and integrity. Did you find any aspects of the ceramic coating that were undesirable after time had passed?
I watched this mostly because I did similar tests trying to find something that lasts and I was blown away by cerakote. I've seen some people say it turned their trim white/splotchy but I don't know if it was a reaction with the type of trim or if it wasn't applied correctly (if the trim was hot for example). For that reason I'd recommend testing in a hidden area before doing the whole car. I've used it on my Civic, an Elantra, and a GMC Acadia with excellent results. I actually just reapplied it on my Civic because it began to fade, but it did so just as evenly as when it faded originally. Plus it took almost exactly two YEARS to fade. I only use one wipe for my entire car so it's expensive per wipe, but not at a rate of 5 wipes a decade. I was worried about effectiveness after the remaining wipes sat in my garage for literal years, but the one I used worked just as well as when I bought it. Follow the instructions carefully and you'll be very happy with the results.
I have tried all of these and the Cerakote is BY FAR the best! I used them to restore the plastic fenders on my Jeep Wrangler. They look brand new and the product lasts a year easily. Highly recommend!!
Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback.
One thing I found that works extremely well, and doesn’t end up leaving that white look is Amsoil silicone spray. I have tried some cheap silicone spray from normal auto parts stores, and it’s performance was not very good.
The Amsoil silicone spray lasts a longs time. Only downside is it takes a while to apply. I’ve found it works best applied to a cloth, and wiping it on. Once applied though, you rarely need to reapply it to keep the deep black shiny look. I also apply it to rubber gaskets around doors, and windows. Also, you can spray it on rubber boots on your axles or tie rods to keep the rubber hydrated, and crack free.
Where did you buy this? I can't find it in any stores in Los Angeles

I think a lot of ppl ate their humble pie with the 303 results from this vid. Including me.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah I have about two unused bottles of 303 to burn through but I’ll definitely be checking out the chemical guys after that’s almost gone
303 is great for interior plastic trim. Doesn’t last that long on the outside. I have to admit I use it on my tires cuz I don’t want anything with silicone and like the Matt finish.
I never had much luck trying 303 on exterior plastic, but it's still my favorite for interior panels.
Yeah. I purchased a big jug of 303 and it's a big let down. I won't purchase it again.

Thanks for the video idea.
@@ProjectFarm agreed i use household leather protector in my car not just the automotive stuff
Yup would love to see leather restoration products tested as well!!
I used regular leather cleaner and conditioner for saddles. It works well on the vinyl seats too. Best thing I’ve found to use in my car.
Nothing beats mink oil in liquid form without silicone. Silicone seals the leather and prevents future applications from penetrating well.
A video on car drying towels would be helpful as far as microscratching, lint leftover, absorbing capabilities, and durability. Also maybe the ability to clean them. Microfiber, terry towel, bath towel, rags, etc! Keep up the amazing work
Thanks for the video idea. Thanks, will do.

Great video as always, I would just point out one thing for everyone who's planning to use Cerakote, Cerakote is great but guys remember one thing, make sure you are putting it on the plastic that's not painted, use it only on trims that are "pure plastic" so to speak, don't use it on the trim that might have clearcoat or something on it, like the shiny plastics under the hood most likely have some kind of clear coat, I made that mistake and messed entire engine bay up, I had to repaint everything. If you want to be safe use other stuff that Mr. Farm reviewed, they won't damage anything.
Thanks so much! Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks for the heads up! Did not know that ,but makes sense!
I'm surprised that the 303 did so poorly. I use it on my car (23K miles old, garaged 95% of the time) and have had great results. It's the last step on washing and detailing. Perhaps the condition of the plastic on the truck plays a major factor. Another great video. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback.
I've found you have to go over multiple times with 303 - sometimes as many as 4 passes to get a lasting black matte finish. It seems to soak into the plastic that first swipe. However it still protects even after 1 pass which is its main purpose at the end of the day - its just not the best trim restorer for longevity
I was surprised at 303 performance on this as well. 303 has been the best product I have used by far.
Great video as always. I’ve had great luck with Flood Penetrol. It’s actually a oil based paint thinner but it makes the plastic look like new and lasts long a long time
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a performance that Cerakote had both in the tests and on your truck trim! Great vid as always!
Thanks!
There's another trim restore dye called Forever Black that is fantastic. The trick is to not use the applicator that comes with it but rather a microfiber towel to rub it on evenly, the applicator leaves it streaky. Would love to see a comparison of CeraKote vs Forever Black.
Thanks for the video idea.
303 is best used for door seals,a/c belts, serpentine belts, and windshield wipers It actually penetrates rubber and gives more life to the belts. For belts, curl up , place in large coffee can ,submerge, and let it soak for 20-30 minutes. There are a couple of videos on UA-cam showing different applications
Thanks for the feedback.
As always thank you very much for the in-depth information. The best real information you can find on the internet !!

I've swore by and been a faithful 303 user for years, very disappointed seeing this lol. Thanks for taking the time to do such a through review 👍👍👍👍
You are welcome!
Me too. Been using it on the interior of my vehicles and my inflatable boat forever. Seems to last quite a while on the interior trim.
I was honestly shocked. I have a fairly new vehicle that I religiously wash and treat with the 303 and it lasts at minimum a month with a beautiful deep black gloss. I suppose once the plastic is highly porous it doesn't do as well.
Don't be disappointed. 303 I have used for many years too. It is just a different type of product than many of the ones tested here. 303 is a preservative. Its meant to keep the rubber supple and pliable over the years. With continued use, the rubber will stay in very good shape. Whereas these other products are meant to restore plastics that are already beaten. So yes 303 won't really help rubber or plastics in poor condition. So if your looking for just the gloss and the new look for an old car 303 won't be your best choice. But if you have a new car or newer car, and apply 303 often, in 10 yrs your rubber will still look the same and still be pliable. I hope I am making sense? Just different type of products for different type of uses. Also, what I like about 303 is if it gets on the paint or glass by accident, it comes off very easily. Many of these other products used especially the ceramic products are a PITA to get off paint and glass.
