Making a Tree Resin Keychain with Laser Cut wood | JMKDIY

- Here's a short video of my first time working with epoxy resin. I know the finished product has flaws like bubbles, but I'm pretty happy with the end result.
process:
I designed a simple tree pendant in affinity design, imported the svg into inkscape, and tweaked the colors there to work with k40 whisperer(software for my laser cutter). I lasercut two identical pendants and epoxied them together for a 6mm depth so that I'd have more room for resin and material. The green plant is just dried cedar tree. As for what resin I used, I went with some art 'n glow(top rated on amazon), although next time I think I'll try another brand as this stuff has a lot of bubbles that are hard to get rid of after mixing.

Simple but unique!!!
Thank you somuch for the video. It's s beautiful design.
😍😍😍😍
good work
Use a torch to get rid of the bubbles.
Seems that vacuum may help pull out that air bubbles?
Yeah not sure! I’ve been wanting to experiment with a torch actually, I hear that can clear them up pretty easy. Once I have some time I’d like to approach this project again and experiment with different methods
@@JMKDIY Actually, I heard hot air gun is sufficient. Just to heat up, expand bubbles and in the meanwhile reduce viscosity. Then bubbles may get freely out by itself.
Oh interesting, I never thought of using one! That does sound liked it’d work and would be a bit more forgiving than a torch
@@JMKDIY Yes. The point is to make epoxy soft and more liquid. That is possible with heat. I used to cure epoxy glue with tungsten halogen lamp, one with the reflector. At first, it become very soft, but soon solidify - much faster than at room temperature.
What laser cutter machine did you use ?
He uses a K40 for this one
What type of wood did you use ?
I used 3mm Baltic birch plywood
just flip the tape over so the sticky side is up when you put the wood down and that will help to hopfully seal the edges so the resin wont leak out
Will do, thanks! This was my first time working with resin, so I hope to revisit it with better results soon
Nies
Nice design but to many air bubbles.
Where did you go?
Hi there, I started my senior year of college shortly after I made this channel and it was a bit more overwhelming than I anticipated. I haven’t had much time to dedicate to my videos, but I plan on making more in the coming months so stay tuned!
@@JMKDIY ok ty
Is that k40 40 wat machin
@@jitendramohta6587 yes it is a 40 watt machine
