Hi. Great ideas. To help with bubbles on bare wood you could cover the base with a clear gesso. It primes the surface but leaves the wood looking natural. I hope this helps.
Use a heat gun on the wood before adding the resin it will bring out the air bubbles and then when you add the resin go over it again lightly with the heat gun.
