Always enjoy how easy you make it sound!
How hard is it to teach your dog not to react to humans and other dogs?
Our 1 year loves everyone and everything but we want him to just ignore and he doesn’t quite get it when we try to teach him this! He is fine to sit and watch people or dogs walk past but if we want to keep walking he can sometimes lunge and it’s a nightmare!

Hi Ben, what training should I focus on if my dog barks at everyone at the fence. As summer is approaching I would like to spend time in our garden. But she just barks at everyone passing by.

Hi Ben, thanks for all the advice you give . My issue is, my dog will walk nicely but if another dog shows any aggression, growling ,etc behaviour , he puffs up his chest and will react , I want to be confident in my dog so no matter what the other dog does I am sure mine will not react and walk on. I tell him no and say leave it and keep walking , he will try turning around but I keep going . He is not off lead because of this as I am not confident he will come to me if this situation happens off lead. I've done and do long line training, and hire fields to train him. Problem is I can't test him with distractions safely because we go alone. What do I do? Any suggestion would be welcome . Also. If he is off lead when I train him and he does not come when I call, do I put him on the lead? Or will that bring a bad vibe about the lead ? Thank you Michelle

Hey, This doesn’t seem like a problem with your dog right now it’s others being aggressive towards them that is the trigger. You can help your dog by strengthening overall obedience as this will ensure your dog listens to you, even when in a tense situation. I wouldn’t recommend letting them off the lead without a longline until you no longer need a longline to bring them back in. Putting them on the lead after a failed recall will likely make them try to dodge you in future

@balanceddoguk Hi Ben, thanks so much for replying and the info you have given, it's helpful. It's true, he does not attempt to be aggressive he will react if aggression is shown to him he is definitely not submissive! My friends dog just rolls over but mine does not. He is a cross lab husky, very strong minded but soft as a cushion with people he knows . He equally does not like strangers trying to touch him, but truthfully neither do I, some ask and I say no! Some don't and he just quietly growls! I'm learning through your posts to ignore and not get upset with other owners who allow the dogs to run riot , I'm displaying calm as much as possible and I know its making a difference. I will keep trying and hope that one day he can run free without his longline. Thanks again 🙏🏽
