      Partzilla hi I recently spun a bearing on my crankshaft. are any of the options of bearings undersized like maybe .20 or.30?

    what if you polish the rod journals so now they would be slightly undersized how can you select a bearing color, can anyone tell me which bearing shell color is the thickest and which is the thinest with that information you at least know which direction to go from the color chart as the more you remove from the journal the thicker the bearing would need to be, i would imagine the difference between the thickness of the bearings would be about .0005 in or a half thousandth of an inch or maybe a tad less

    I have a problem sizeing the bearings on my yamaha r6, I can see the number in the cranckshaft (2222) but I can't see the number in the connecting rods? 2 of them are 4D but on the other 2 I can't see any number...

    But, what if the codes are no longer oem, due to wear, damage or repair? Would you then have to measure, determine new values/color codes and order bearings based on those results?

    Those numbers are really only good if you are working with a new case and crank. Those numbers aren’t going to be accurate on an engine with 30,000 miles. You’ll need a micrometer for new measurements. As crankshafts wear their OD gets smaller.

    I have a 2011 Yamaha fz8. I’m replacing the crankshaft my crankcase number are 66665 the crankshaft web numbers are 11211 it follows the same rule for sizing x-y= bearing size but if the color code stops at 4=green what’s confusing me is with my crankcase and crankshaft Web I’m getting 6-1= 5 or am I missing a step ?

    Hi Guys I desperately need your help to purchase the correct bearing for my 2007 Yamaha Waverunner FX cruiser HO. 1100.
    The crankcase number 6B600 Y-1 and the number on the flyweight lobe which is 22222-2322 MBC does not give me a code which is in the manual. Incase you can help the number on the Conrod end cap is 5B. I need to buy Rod and journal bearings.

      Time is a construct. It all depends on oil transfer and wear. Time factor is unknown.

  • @stefansk8
    @stefansk8 6 років тому

    Hello, this, as shown in the shop manual, is for new parts. But what if there is wear involved? I couldn't find any actual size specs apart from the color codes, and just choosing bearings one size bigger and hoping for the best doesn't sound too great to me.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 років тому

      You would use a plastigauge to measure them and select the right bearings.

    • @stefansk8
      @stefansk8 6 років тому

      Thanks for the reply. But how do I know which ones are "the right bearings" to select? Suppose I measure and the clearance is 0,02mm over the limit. Next step is to go online and order. Do I buy the same color as I have now? Do I go one size bigger? Had it been possible to get one sample of each size in front of me I'd just plastigauge each and keep the one that fits best, but that is not possible...

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 років тому

      The only way to really do it is to get an original set and plastigauge, then reorder the size you need. It's not cost efficient, but it's the correct way to handle it.

    • @TurboAcki
      @TurboAcki 6 років тому +1

      Would be more efficient when Yamaha or somebody else would give the sizes for each bearing shell, then you can select what you want. I think bigger number means oversize bearing (journal is smaller).

      Numbers are your O.D. Code, letters are corresponding I.D. codes. So based on your code, 2 with B is Yellow and 1 with B is Pink. So your selection would be Yellow, Yellow, Pink, Yellow. #9 are the bearings and they are listed by color.

    • @PartzillaParts

      It's not recommended, you will have a higher chance of spinning the bearing.

    • @ifrashable

      why dont they ballbearing all the things?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 років тому

      Because the sheer force would tear apart standard ball bearings. They make these out of a softer metal, so when coated with oil, they wear but don't destroy the crank or block.
