Thank you for your video. I have a 2016 Honda Civic LX, and while your instructions were mostly accurate, I needed a 17 mm offset wrench to remove the mounting bolt. My model doesn’t have a place for an Allen wrench; instead, I had to use a vise grip to stabilize the shock and prevent movement.
César Díaz also I noticed that when your put the bracket back on that attaches at the top of the shock it does make a difference and it must fit correctly because if not the shock won’t compress all the way and the rod bends.
@@clintonkeasler3490 the only one that comes off is the nut and that should be enough to remove it. The allen is the center piece of the shock only used as grip.
No. My new shock came with it's own boot. If yours didn't come with one the old one might fit. Not all shocks have the same girth so it's hard to say. You should be able to just pull it off.
@@cesardiaz9439 I fit the boot on but the bottom cap wouldnt fit so they are just secured by the top. Also did you put the black cap back on the top of the shock? I forgot on one side and did it on the other. Drove the vehicle and now it sounds like something bouncing around in the right rear of the trunk. I'm wondering if I should have left the cap off
@@shaddohl1950 I did put the black cap back on. That sound might be either the cap came loose or the shock itself could be, make sure you check that out.
@@shaddohl1950 Did you figure out what the sound was? I had a mechanic install a rear shock on mine, and it is making a knocking noise. I am wondering what it could be..
@@stevesh9418 hey man, I know it's been a year but did you get the knocking sound fixed? I'm thinking it's the rear shock mounts. Part number 52670-TBF-A11

Thank you so much for making this video!!! Until this video I could not figure out how to get the retainer bracket off the stupid shock.
Glad it helped brother!

What is the exact name of that shock honda uses? Anyone know?
Amazing thanks for the video!
Did you reuse the boot? If so how does that come off.

Did you need a spring suppressor for this job?
Negative. Back shocks don't have springs
