Nice build and great video mate. A tip on thread engagement from an old Fitter Armament... turn the fastener backward until just past where you feel the start of the threads drop into engagement, then engage from there. It gets you at the correct point to engage the threads and lessens the opportunity for cross threading. You know that if you don't feel engagement and pitch travel immediately, something is wrong and you should stop before you get into trouble. Keep up the good work mate, your channel is a great watch.
Your build videos are spectacular Gavin, it's been great to watch your channel grow! I love how data driven everything is! You may have already seen these, but some folks are making mounts that you can attach your Magnetospeed via your stock rather than clamping it on the barrel. I think David Tubb designed the first one. It's worth looking into if you consider it altering your barrel harmonics, and if you are like me you are curious about everything. Plus, you are working with some equipment that most of us can only dream of, so I want you to have the absolute best results you can! Keep it up, and thank you for all of your hard work!

I would eventually like to see how this does with the 1:7 twist and some common 25 cal hunting bullets like 120 gr Nosler Partition and 110 Accubond and maybe something in the 85 gr range. Glad to see a 25 cal build, gun looks great. I'm a 25-06 guy.
I have a 1:7 twist 24" 25-06. Using retumbo I found that 115 partitions get much more explosive above 3000 fps. Still was able to quickly find a load to shoot .5 moa. But they started acting like a varmint bullet at close range.
I've been shooting the 25cm for awhile. Love the round. Very easy to load for and the light recoil makes it easy to spot hits and misses. I recently switched over to shooters world long rifle. I'm getting similar velocities with about 3gr less power then I did with h4350.
I chambered barrels for a very large American rifle manufacture, JGS is what we use, you won’t have to use oil on the reamer or worry about chips and the finish as much if you get a thru bore coolant set up. Also depending on the blank manufacture most will leave the first .5-1 inch not pulled with rifling so you don’t have to worry about chattering within the bore.

Great video on a fun project. I have a 25x47Lapua, I’m shooting BIB 110s out of. I also have a 6.5x47 and a 6 -6.5x47. Kinda of the same concept or doing with the Creedmoor case. Quarter bores are just fun and with the 131 blackjack they are a very attractive option to me, plus not everyone has one. I like that. Nicely done, I look forward to the updates!
3 things Gavin: 1- I wish you were my professor and I was 20 again, learning machining and smithing would be awesome! 2 - don't forget with the Area 419 brakes, screw on and line up and push - the taper lock will hold it in place for you to tighten the collar and 3 - what bipod is that?
Also try a 25 BR. Great varmint and mid-range coyote rifle. I built one on a Ruger 77 heavy take off barrel from a 25/06 and made an Encore barrel stub to use on a TC Encore rifle. Shoots awesome.
Fantastic looking gun Gavin! Stock looks amazing. The break seems to work well, and I have one for an upcoming 338 LM project. You should try the APA Fat Bastard and Little Bastard brakes. I got a rifle in for testing that has one in 6.5 CM and was AMAZED how effective those brakes are!
Love the 25 creed with the blackjack bullets I’m shooting mine at 2950fps with 42.2gr of h4350 and shot a 4” group at 900 yards while still breaking in the barrel!! Would definitely recommend!
When the 131 blackjack first came out I bought a barrel from them for my .257 Weatherby had a gunsmith recommend and sent it to him and I believe it was chambered wrong, it would not eject the brass after they were fired, sent it back 2 more times and I received my gun with the factory barrel on it and he said that it was my action, haven't been able to shoot the blackjacks since.
FYI, I’m running 6mm brass exclusively. Gives a slight crush in the chamber after necking up with a mandrel- now running 242 then 256 due to virgin lapua necks being so tight-to that end the ‘518 6mm lapua lot worked perfectly (with ‘719 being a bit too tight with a longer base to shoulder datum). I wouldn’t really worry about the 6.5 seater as long as it’s for VLDs, was using forster seaters but moving everything to the SAC seaters now.
Love my 25 creed! For even more performance take a look at the 25 sherman short tac! 5.5 mils and only 2.72mil of drift at 1000 yds in a 20 mph cross wind, whats not to love
@@gw9853 the drop listed is for my 25sst. But i shoot the 131 ace out of both. My 25 creedmoor drop at the same distance and wind value is 6.65 drop and 3.22 drift
Another great video! That rifle looks sweet! What was the cost of the rifle completed build? When are you going to start building rifles for customers?! I want on the wait list!!
At 7:30 you said the crush (whether hand tight or torqued) affects the tenon length. It doesn't affect the tenon length, it affects the case stick out length (.885" for hand tight, .883" for torqued). Case stick-out is controlled by depth of chamber cut.
@@Ultimatereloader Bolt nose to barrel face clearance = end play, understood. But why deviate from the prints? Tenon print says .725" is for torqued installation and accounts for the .002" crush. It says to add .002" for hand tightened application? You torqued your barrel, so wouldn't .725" been the correct tenon length rather than making it longer?
Todd, I really enjoy your videos and appreciate your attention to detail. Also, thanks for introducing me to the Foundation line of stocks. However, just curious as to why you didn't glass-bed the action into the stock. Is this process not necessary with this stock? Thanks,
Always a fan of the .25 calibers. When the factory offerings become available in 25 Creedmoor I will be in the queue. Had a 250 Savage, sold it in a weak moment. Huge regret, have a 257 Roberts, my go to, never sell favourite.
Gavin, thanks for another great build ,love seeing the details. Have you thought about using a Short Action Custom seating die? it will seat multiple calibers with one die and two stems.
Great informational videos, with all these excellent custom actions I would love to hear how you find each one and some pros and cons? Looking at replacing my existing .270 action but keen to keep the same cartridge, weighing up my options!
If you can attach the indicator to the lathe frame instead of the tailstock, then you will know where the reamer is after you move and return the tailstock to measure the chamber depth.
I have been looking for my new favorite cal.i think I found it in this video 25.cal great build beautiful gun.whats the cost of this gun in today market.yes I guess iam 5yrs behind lol
Will you have to get a new Wilson seater in all, or can you just swap too a 25cal stem? I am about too build a 25x47 and have a wilson seater for both 6 and 6.5 x47lapua.
Amazing video, thank you for uploading. Regarding the stock can you explain how you balance the rifle. Have you got weights in the rail system; also how would you then counter this? Is there option for weights in the but-stock. I use your videos all the time they are a great resource. Richie (look up the RMPRA).
there are a couple guys that make weights that can fit into the hexagon cut outs in the forend. the foundation stocks are roughly 5lb by themselves. with a 26-28" heavy contour barrel they balance very well a few inches in front of the mag well. my foundation PRS rifle weighs 20lb with a 28" heavy varmint contour barrel.
So what are your direct thoughts on the Terminus Action? It is the second action I have used. My first is a savage model 12. There is no comparison between the two. I am thinking about a BAT. It is around the same price and I am sure you know it's reputation. I have shot a few but I can't really say which is better. Love your videos and would really value your opinion.
Interested in hearing more about the terminus zues… Sounds like an option for changing barrels and calibers ect.. Seems like a different way to machine barrels to make that work.I’ve always wondered if it was worthwhile
Awsome build!👍👍 How would you compare the zuess and the bat tr? As im interested in both. I know 3 lug vs 2 is apples and oranges. But id love to hear your take on the two.
Hey Gavin building my first ever short action bolt rifle here soon have about 90% of all the important parts out for shipping soon. I'm hoping you could answer a few questions for me. Okay so the first one is how much torque do I apply to my barrel and action (action impact precision) barrel (proof research competition 26") its a prefit. Also as for the go gauge trick would it work for me? so I can just order the go gauge and just put a piece of scotch tape on the back like you did (where exactly did you place the tape?, right below the neck or down before the rim of the case?) Also I won't need the bottom metal on a MDT ESS correct?
Earlier this month started to buy 6.5CM upper. I did buy 6.5cm, resized 308 then cut to length. thought about the 6mm cm then changed my mind to retain the 308 upper for hunting since Retired from high power competition from the Air Force and HP team back in 95.. I admit I'm a Velocity Whore, I love fast, flat & hard hitting with tons of "hdrostatic shock" like the 25-06. Cut my teeth on 06's, cycling bolts on long actions is all in the wrist and fingertips. 25cm is nice, very nice but I favor the faster fps on 06 cases. 25-06 shoots flatter then the 25cm out to 700 yards. The 6.5 cm does have an advantage on the 115 ELD 2" less wind drift and more fps but the 25-06 does a better job on Mule Deer in my on humble opinion. Retired now all I do now is hunt and the favorite bullet is the 117 grain .257 diameter Hornady SPBT with 54.0 grains of IMR4831 necked down Lake City 30-06 match @ 3267 fps. No doubt the Creedmoor is a great case among the competition shooters, this Crusty Ol'NCO accepts the trade off of a short action for more velocity in the 3000 fps range. Keep the videos coming, your one of the berst! 73's Keep the barrel hot And the X-Ring full of holes targets..............UP!

Will you have to get a new Wilson seater in all, or can you just swap too a 25cal stem? I am about too build a 25x47 and have a wilson seater for both 6 and 6.5 x47lapua.
Awsome video! Why did you not bedd the stock? 🤔
Wow another caliber? I don't know much about this caliber, but It seems like they comes out with a new caliber every year.
Love your videos and would really value your opinion.
hi Gav . awesome build. have covered reloading the 25 creed yet?? interested to see the out come
25cal. I believe is a excellent caliber for med. Size game. Now with more bullets to chose from it's even better.
Interested in hearing more about the terminus zues… Sounds like an option for changing barrels and calibers ect.. Seems like a different way to machine barrels to make that work.I’ve always wondered if it was worthwhile
Any reason you are not using the quick change feature of the Zeus? No need to torque.
Are you going to make a Ar10 version also ? I would love to see how that works out
Awsome build!👍👍
How would you compare the zuess and the bat tr? As im interested in both.
I know 3 lug vs 2 is apples and oranges.
But id love to hear your take on the two.
Hi can you discuss also about the 6.5 x 47 Lapua ammo
How’s the bolt lift feel compared to say like your Kelbys? Is it super heavy compared?
This is almost the same build I'm doing except mine is 6 CM. Looking forward to seeing how it goes for you
Any updates on the 25 Creed Gavin?
Is this caliber the same as the .257 Roberts?
Full disclosure.. I thought the 25creedmore was a typo.
No, but CreedMORE is😉
Build a 25 PRC next on blackjack 131s....
Keep the barrel hot
And the X-Ring full of holes
targets..............UP!
Zues vs Atlas Tactical which one you like better??
Wonder how a G10 stock performs
