That's a beautiful rifle. Well made, with obviously outstanding craftsmanship. She should do really well for you. Looking forward to seeing you shooting her. Good Luck!
That looks like a super fun and rewarding build. You are going to really like that 6 Dasher. I also gotta say, your future looks pretty bright for your channel and possibly even high end custom builds or teaching some courses in the future. Well done Gavin.
This has turned out to be your best build. In fact I am now gonna look into the 6 Dasher as well as some over your build components. Thanks Gavin as always, been following you for years here!
Gavin fantastic overview tons of very nice shots with clear views of machining and building I know that’s not easy and very time consuming so thanks for the hard work. I really enjoy the energy and tone on these longer formats, it feels a bit more relaxed as if we’re just hanging in the shop with you and you’re teaching us. Great video man!
I don't understand much of what you said, but i appreciate the craftsmanship and passion that you have for this. Thank you for this, it's refreshing to see. Keep it up and i can't wait for the next video.
Quite a few of my friends run Dasher. When spotting for people who are sending Dasher rounds at steel. The trace really shows how impressive that little sucker is. Its quite an “aesthetic” looking cartridge as well.
Man, you’re on an entirely different level. A magnificent mind, Gavin. I can’t process a tenth of this information, even though you’ve simplified it extremely well. Sign of a great instructor. You should probably be building custom rifles😬. I don’t have the means or mind to ever take something like this on, BUT I really appreciate the detail and video of this build.
Gavin, I want to take some machinist classes at one of the local tech schools now. This is so interesting. Plus I can make my own special tools for work.
Brilliant build Gavin some very good detailed processes in the machining work absolutely love looking at this type of gunsmith work , I wish I could be your student to teach me like your grandfather taught you , looking forward to seeing how the dasher shoots with load development work great job so far 😁👍
Hope you are still planning on putting a video out where you take this rifle out to distance. Would really like to see. Building a 6 Dasher myself at the moment using a savage action.
Just curious? Why not the 6 GT. A man of your skill and attention to detail will be able to tune that dasher to feed reliably for sure. Looking forward to it.
Just had you tube ask if this was a good recommendation for me i clicked yes it asked why and provided a bunch of boxes i clicked them all lol. Inspiring calming useful educational entertaining and other. Hopefully it helps that pesky algorithm recommend your vids
Wow Gavin, that is an outstanding build!! Would have been super awesome if Piet could have made it for the cup but it is certainly understandable. Next year the two of you will light it up with the Dashers!!
Awesome build! When you indicate the chamber end and then again 1" forward of the throat by adjusting the spider are you worried about the muzzle end running out a bit. Depending on how straight the bore is the muzzle end can be running out a bit and cause the barrel to not be centered in the barrel channel once assembled. In other words do you clock your barrels up or down so it lines up straight in the barrel channel? I truly enjoy watching your work and attention to detail. Keep the videos coming and I'll keep watching.
The rifle is beautiful and the video is great but not many of us have the money, machines and time to build that gun. Nice to see videos for guys that aren't millionaires.
All this is way over my head but it is so interesting and the gun looks fantastic can’t wait to see how it shoots great job mate cheers Yogi Australia 🇦🇺🤙🤙
What's the process for the next reload? Full length size with the die mandrel removed then use the Wilson mandrel? Or do you bushing size down a little more than necessary then mandrel size to open it to the right size?
I use aeroshell 64 grease for my barrel nuts and as a weapons grease lube. Some of the military armorers I know use it or Mobil 1 red wheel bearing grease. Buy it in a full size grease tube and it will pretty much last forever.
Because there's more reloading content to be made with the chore that is dasher prep lol. It's less interesting when you can load a GT on a progressive with a node so wide you could miss by .4 grains and still shoot single digit ES/SDs ,
Gavin, how do I get a copy of your work up sheet on action build dimensions? I'd like to see both the original and the modifications you made to it. Can you post a copy for downloading and reprint?
Do you feel there is an advantage to dialing in with the dial indicator directly in the bore vs using a range rod to dial the blank in? Assuming of course that the range rod is true.
Dan Bruce I indicate off the lands and the groves for repeatability and to (imho) not have stack up of tool/ bushing tolerances. If you put a indicating rod or a range rod in the bore, dial it in perfect, take it out, and put the same rod back in it will not indicate the same as before. It will be close but not the same. That’s why I go off the lands an groves, I feel indicating off what the bullet is going off of is the best way imho.
@@wheels2199 That makes sense. As an experiment, I will try taking the range rod out and putting it back in next time I dial one in. Any change would not be good even if slight.
Loading for 6 dasher is stupid easy. Seat 0.020" off the lands and use 32-32.6grs of Varget. With Hydroformed brass, i shoot under 0.25 moa and my ES is in the single digits.
I tried those 12 rd mags in the same stock/mini chassis and they don’t fit quite well. Just seating them. MDT told me those don’t work well with Manners. I sent mine back and got another 10 rounder.
Velocity will likely be lower but the consistency is godlike. The BR case and its derivatives are basically the easy button for accurate, low SD/ES loads with almost any good quality barrel.
Hey love the video, question, do you forsee an issue using the same front action screw to both keep a recoil lug positioned aft and an arca rail positioned forward in relation to your stock? Seems to me that might cause the action to move forward in the stock under recoil.
Gavin, any chance you could help me out at purchasing Quick Load? I’ve tried contacting directly but they don’t reply & their website says they don’t ship/sale to USA. Thanks Sandy
I have more of a reloading question, hope thats ok since it doesn’t really pertain to this video. I’m fairly new to reloading and have not crimped any of my rounds 223,308 and pistol rounds all semi autos. I have tested a few rounds of each caliber without any issue. Is it safe not to crimp? A lot of people say to crimp, some don’t. I’m having trouble finding newer reloading videos to learn. Any advice would be appreciated from anyone. Thank you
general guide - taper crimp mouth headspaced auto pistols, roll crimp heavy recoiling revolver loads, no crimp on most rifle unless tube fed, get a good reloading manual that covers the process and reasons.
When you are trying to stay on target at 1000 yards to watch your trace/misses, it's critical. It's not about making the rifle more comfortable to shoot :)
I've seen it SO many times and yet I can understand why gunsmiths do it...you have a shop that I would KILL for..but yet you surprise me as to why you can depend on a four (4) jaw Chuck and depend on the back spider to dial in your bore ????????????? How can you do that when you have four flat jaws holding the barrel captive ???? Have you ever heard of a cat head or use the large diameter copper wire so the barrel can pivot..great shop but you have let me down by doing this...oh I am a retired machinest and home gunsmith..correction RIFLE SMITH.lovely shop tho I
Sam- as Gordy teaches in his master rifle building class- it's ALL about the aluminum pads under the jaws (small contact area). That's how the pivoting is accomplished....
Manners blows. Paid a ton of money for my stock and it is trash. Even sent it in for them to fix it for me. Customer service is a joke. If you put any upward pressure on the magazine the gun won't load. I asked for, and had them install, an adjustable length of pull. They put an adjustable length stock on an already full length stock! Who does that!? I had to remove it and reinstall the recoil pad myself, wasting money on a part I can't even use. The screws for the stock were too long for the receiver and I had to cut them (if I remember right the instructions said that may happen). Beautiful stock, but it doesn't work. what a waste of a ton of money. Gordy Gritter built my gun. Really well built. The gun originally (and I put it back on) a lone wolf carbon stock.
Hands down the best shooting/gunsmithing content on UA-cam. Would like to see you crosspost to rumble or somewhere, I'm leaving UA-cam because they're commies

As a machinist, this is an excellent video of what is involved for the completion of such a project.
Thanks Norman!
Nice to see BAT getting some tactical love
Awesome build. I am shooting with a 6.5 Creedmoor now and want a Dasher. Thanks for the video
This has turned out to be your best build. In fact I am now gonna look into the 6 Dasher as well as some over your build components. Thanks Gavin as always, been following you for years here!
Nice rig, it would be great to show the "why 6mm Dasher" for the general public. Looking forward to the next installment.
Such a sweet rifle - that Diamond trigger was sick!
Gavin fantastic overview tons of very nice shots with clear views of machining and building I know that’s not easy and very time consuming so thanks for the hard work. Your attention to detail is great! You're very thorough and I admire that.
Man... I wish I had a shop like that... and the skill set to make the most of it.
Nice work. I appreciate the level of detail that you go into in your videos.
Thanks Paul!
A pleasure to watch you work. The knowledge and work ethic is second to none. Looking forward for more. A half an hour well spent.
Quite a few of my friends run Dasher. When spotting for people who are sending Dasher rounds at steel. The trace really shows how impressive that little sucker is. Its quite an “aesthetic” looking cartridge as well.

Can't wait to see your future videos on your dasher build.
I’ve tested the 109s. And made the swap from the 105 hybrids. Even at a low 2950 FPS, I was only at 11.2 Mils at my range at 1260. They are worth it.
Outstanding Build!
Gavin, I want to take some machinist classes at one of the local tech schools now. This is so interesting. Plus I can make my own special tools for work.
I say DO IT! Good luck!
Brilliant build Gavin some very good detailed processes in the machining work absolutely love looking at this type of gunsmith work , I wish I could be your student to teach me like your grandfather taught you , looking forward to seeing how the dasher shoots with load development work great job so far 😁👍
Nice rifle 👍🏼
Glad to see you moving on from the hornady cartridges
Well, you certainly put the precision in Precision Rifle Shooting. Can't wait to see the results!
Hope you are still planning on putting a video out where you take this rifle out to distance. Would really like to see. Building a 6 Dasher myself at the moment using a savage action.
Wow! Looks Fantastic!
Such a great personality and a lot of information shared keep it up man!
Thanks Shaun!
Nice video keep going. Have fun with your new rifle.
Just curious? Why not the 6 GT. A man of your skill and attention to detail will be able to tune that dasher to feed reliably for sure. Looking forward to it.

Always enjoy the gunsmith videos and explanations. Can't wait to see how the rifle shoots!
Yes! This is the build I have been waiting for! I have been collecting parts to build this rifle and ammo.
Can’t wait to see the results.
Wow Gavin, that is an outstanding build!! Would have been super awesome if Piet could have made it for the cup but it is certainly understandable. Next year the two of you will light it up with the Dashers!!

Seems the 6 GT is doing very well too in the PRS game
...great job!...was just thinking last night how this project was coming along...can’t wait to see load development...
Love that rifle!!
What made you choose dasher over the GT? Good video, as always. :)
I chose the 6GT over the dasher on my up coming build but I do know a lot of people like the dasher still.
I chose the 6gt as well for the Guardian Match next weekend.
That is a beautiful rifle !
The rifle is beautiful and the video is great but not many of us have the money, machines and time to build that gun. Nice to see videos for guys that aren't millionaires.

Nice rifle, you have some talent my friend............. let's see how it shoots !!!
Next level stuff! Thanks Gavin for the video!! 👍👏
Oh nice! I've rented his reamers
You beauty, I’ve been waiting for this build to start 😀 . I’m thinking of building a 6mm Dasher for PRS as well . Very nice rifle build Gavin.
I use aeroshell 64 grease for my barrel nuts and as a weapons grease lube. Some of the military armorers I know use it or Mobil 1 red wheel bearing grease. Buy it in a full size grease tube and it will pretty much last forever.
What you you think of taking a .308 or a 6.5 and putting a 204 projectile ???
I’m not sure you know what you’re talking about...
Because I have no idea as this is so far over my head but super interesting
Why not go with the 6GT seems to be a better option.
Because there's more reloading content to be made with the chore that is dasher prep lol. It's less interesting when you can load a GT on a progressive with a node so wide you could miss by .4 grains and still shoot single digit ES/SDs ,
Facinating stuff!!
I’d be interested in some build blueprint blanks. Are they downloadable online? Good work on the new 6 dasher!
Gavin, how do I get a copy of your work up sheet on action build dimensions? I'd like to see both the original and the modifications you made to it. Can you post a copy for downloading and reprint?
OCD would kick in with st/st action screws on the black bottom metal.
Do you feel there is an advantage to dialing in with the dial indicator directly in the bore vs using a range rod to dial the blank in? Assuming of course that the range rod is true.

Can i get the link you talk about with the threading depth stop? i search the vids but it wouldnt pull up.
Love the build. What performance increases are you getting over 6mm creedmoor with this round?
Velocity will likely be lower but the consistency is godlike. The BR case and its derivatives are basically the easy button for accurate, low SD/ES loads with almost any good quality barrel.
Trying to find information can you trim 6.5 case to 6mm dasher ???
Hey love the video, question, do you forsee an issue using the same front action screw to both keep a recoil lug positioned aft and an arca rail positioned forward in relation to your stock? Seems to me that might cause the action to move forward in the stock under recoil.
Did you bed the rifle?
Most excellent,
What is your freebore on the barrel?
Gavin, what is the scope you're using on this build?
? Better than the 6mm ARC ?
Could I put that same action and barrel in a mdt acc chassis?
Dasher is so 2019, we need the Gay Tiger 🤪
Very nice 👌
How do you afford all this equipment?
Do u build all your rifles.
Awesome!
That's pretty
Gavin, any chance you could help me out at purchasing Quick Load? I’ve tried contacting directly but they don’t reply & their website says they don’t ship/sale to USA. Thanks
Sandy
Bah I can't afford those dang tools :(

6 Dasher: Man, IDK if I can get there and I might jam on feeding.
6 GT: Hold my beer!
Are you running .140 freeboro
i would be beyond happy with structured barrels for my 308 and 338 $$$ but harmomically dead!!!
Paul Reed Smith is making rifles now???
How about some 3D printing videos?!
How much does it weigh?
what company made the barrel
It's a Benchmark barrel blank...
Great build! I don't think you'll like those mags though.
They actually are working great so far
I want one of these so badly, but I lost my ability to shoot long range :'( (But gained google fiber and an indoor range 5 minutes away lol)
Can I be brash ? Can you build the same rig foe me as a customer please
Bad ass
Why does everybody put muzzle breaks on 6mm rifles? They have no kick whats so ever, must be the looks
When you are trying to stay on target at 1000 yards to watch your trace/misses, it's critical. It's not about making the rifle more comfortable to shoot :)
Start to finish but no shooting???
What happened to 6 creed? Lol

The why not gt questions are getting old. The dasher is still winning and I doubt the gt will over take it real soon.
🤤 🤩
I will send my address and you can send it to me for a test. Then I can leave feedback. He he.
