Thanks Chris👍 You made this video 4 years ago, but it’s still relevant today.
You're welcome!
Great video ; thank you, I had to fix my Mom’s toilet- your video was very thorough. One criticism , the music is like nails on a chalkboard-
I agree about the music :) ...I have since stopped playing background music in my videos.
This was so helpful. It took me several hours to complete this project but I wouldn't have tried were it not for this video. Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Wonderfully descriptive video without fluff or nonsense. Thanks!
You're welcome!
YOU just saved my life ! Thank you ! Because of you, I was able to fix my toilet at first try ! Thank you, thank you ! ( and my husband had to swallow my pride 🤣🤣🤣)
:) nice
Thank you so much! I watch your video and changed my flush valve all by myself! So easy, great video instructions!
Your welcome
Great step by step video, well done.
Thanks!
THANK YOU! I have replaced normal flappers over the years but this is my first experience with a canister type assembly. My new house has 3 Kohler toilets that have failing gaskets due to being the original installs (1980's). I never saw this type before and did not know how to fix them or where to get the parts or even that they were brand specific! I have ordered 3 sets and am going to replace all of them as I had to turn the water off on one, another flushes occasionally by itself, and the third is OK (for now).
Nice! I'm glad my video helped.
Very helpful video. Instead of using a cup to get all the water out of the tank I used a length of 3/8" tubing as a siphon from the tank to the bowl.
Nice 👍
Excellent Video and I watched it as I'm about to do the three in my home. Only one observation that I would make, and only because I learned it the hard way when I did this a number of years back. Be very cautious as to not overtighten the three nuts on the screws that hold the tank to the toilet as you can break the toilet and it has to be replaced. As I said, lesson learned the hard way, but overall, a very well presented video. Thank you for the refresher course
Thank you :) ...also thanks for the additional insight!
I have the same model number Kohler. This is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
You're welcome
Great video! Just got done installing my new Kohler parts, worked like a charm!
Nice!
Great video! I just order my parts and will be replacing once they come in the mail. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome
great video and the intro song is a BANGER
Lol. Thanks :)
Thank you good video. I have a Kohler K3983 One piece with double flush.
Lately it has been leaking at times but not all the time. May I ask you or anybody these questions:
The fill valve has a BLACK cap not a RED. Does it matter if I get the RED part to replace?
My water is very hard. Is it OK to put some vinegar in the tank to dissolve the calcium deposits?
The is a black tubing from the flush leading to the canister.......
These are interesting questions. Does anyone have any input on these?
did you use the pipe wrench to tighten the new large nut onto the new gasket?
Gotta use what you have around :)
Thank you! I had done it, but it leaked and I couldn’t figure out what I did wrong until I watched this video. I put the black gasket on last and the ring things on first. When I switched it around - like you showed me - it didn’t leak!
Your welcome, I'm glad you got it working :)
To replace the tank fill valve simply remove the valve portion of the old valve from the riser attached to the tank and snap in the new valve mechanism. No need to disassemble any connections and risk leaks.
Thanks for the insight 👍
Cool tunes man thanks a lot this helped me out big time
You're welcome
Most thorough video...thanks!!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately if your toilet is discontinued, it is a crabshoot to find the right parts.
That's unfortunate
Exactly what i needed. Thank you
You're welcome
Excellent video. Thanks!

Life saver dude! Thanks!

Thank you Sir! Helped me out immensely!
You're welcome!
How old was your toilet or the toilet parts when you had to replace them?
It came with the house, I had no idea
Awesome video! Unfortunately I looked on the Kohler site and it could not direct me to find my Fill Valve kit or find the toilet number...not even Amazon had it. I purchased a universal kit at our local ACE Hardware. My toilet is fixed...thank you!!
Nice! Thanks for the insight
So easy, you can do it in your pajamas
Nice :)
thank you for sharing. a major pipe in the street broke over the weekend and our water was shut off for a few days. when they turned the water back on, my toilet is constantly running and I can't figure out why! also, my valve kit hose is not connected to that hole in the center, it never was. it's completely turned to the right! I don't know! someone didn't install it properly!
When the street pipe broke and was replaced there could be some dislodged material (dirt, a small stone, etc.)that's gone through the pipes to your house and is preventing the drain valve from sealing properly.
Thank you so much. I ended up calling a handy man to fix the problem. I wish I could have saved myself a $$ and did it myself.
Thanks for the insight!
Thanks! You let me know what tools I would need.
I know it's been 3 years since this question was asked, hope the answer helps others. Get yourself some common household tools, including: large adjustable wrench and a medium adjustable wrench. Also, I used a pipe wrench for the larger nuts, since I did not have a large enough wrench for those.
What size socket is it?
Unfortunately I have forgotten, perhaps others might be able to provide insight on this.
Dude thanks for the info.
You're welcome!
Great tutorial.
Thanks!
good good!
Thanks!
What would make my toilet take like a couple minutes to start to refill after a flush? I’m stumped. I flush and then no water fills..wait about 3 minutes and it starts filling again.
Interesting... Perhaps someone familiar with this problem reading this can answer.
What causes my highline classic kohler water sense toilet bowl to fill up too much...what part is broke?
Put the small rubber tube into the little hole on top of the flush valve (middle piece)
Hope the comment from the other UA-camr helped.
Thanks good video.
You're welcome!
The Fluidmaster fill valve in Kohler toilets are poorly designed/made. Don't replace it with the same kind. Go to Home Depot & get a Korky QuietFILL Platinum Toilet Fill Valve. They perform much better.
Can you tell me which Korky Fill Valve this toilet uses? Thanks
I played around with one yesterday and it seemed very cheap. I’m disappointed in Kohler for making such a trash product.
I agree; we had a plumber over to my moms and they put in this toilet, I don’t think they are easy to fix no where near a reg toilet , so frustrated; i never have had a problem this is crazy
Thanks for the insight!
Just want to add if anyone has a problem with the nut on the bottom of the flush valve just spinning and not coming loose, I wedged the opposite side of the valve (inside the tank) with a pair of channel locks to keep it from spinning and was able to turn the wrench and remove the nut from the valve. Admittedly, my pops had to help me figure that out because I was getting upset lol.
Thanks for the extra insight!
My toilet didn’t have this type of fill valve, so I have nothing to go off of as far as the colored connector. Is there a way to find out which one to use?
Home Depot has videos.
You don't need that exact fill valve, any universal one will work.
Thanks to the other UA-camrs for their responses!
Great Job....thanks.
