As a Rush fan for 40 years, I have to say I LOVE your reaction videos to the boys. Your joy, enthusiasm and energy is amazing and infectious. I’m so glad you’re loving the band as much as we do. Keep up the fantastic content ❤😎
They and the road crew had a lot of fun on tours to lighten things up and would work to do things like that. :) So many long-running jokes through the years.
This is one of my favorite Rush songs. I've played the drums for over 40 years, I still find this song extremely difficult. So great to see a RUSH girl and how much you love them.
Lol yeah, as you saw in dinner with rush, they have a great sense of humor . neil said we laughed 70% of the time spent together, now that's some fun working environment 😄
Number one Barbie aint got nothing on you Red ❤❤❤ Since I got my headphones when listening to Rush what I find so awesome is that you can one moment hear say just Geddy and then hear all of them together as one 💯💯💯Red you always say you have to learn to listen to a band and with headphones I so see that now🤟🤟🤟#reaction #rush #rushreaction #geddylee #alexlifeson #neilpeart #redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulfuncountrygirl #34K #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #bestbadjokes #redheadedbarbiedoll
One of my all time favourite Rush songs!! It is just sublime! Secret Touch from the same concert is also excellent. I would highly recommend it. Also, their acceptance speech from the RRHOF. Alex absolutely nailed his speech LOL
Yes! What a great song for a reaction. The Snakes and Arrows Tour was so amazing. I think Alex had such great live sound here. He was certain ly egged on by all his adoring Barbies with their yellow sticky notes that the crew would write on with such sage advice/questions as "Will you play Stairway To Heaven?" and other things. When my daughter and I saw them in Atlanta on this tour (Second leg), we were in the second row on Geddy's side, and my daughter got invited up to an open spot in the first row for most of the entire first set. (A front row couple had won contest and were invited to sit side stage for the first set so their places were open) Time of our life!
Each guy has a moment to shine on this one… Actually not even moments. The whole song for each of them is amazing and together it’s wonderful for today’s reaction. I will say how the F can Geddy sing like that while playing that part!
The Barbies are Alex's groupies. The road crew make little post-it note signs for them to hold up and amuse Alex like "I think the drummer is cute" or "Hmmmm?". The whole outfit is awesome!
They always say how there are no woman at Rush shows so, yeah, the Barbie’s holding signs, classic Rush humor… Great reaction and review. Might I suggest Secret Touch live from the same Snakes and Arrows tour 💙🩵🤍
I was at their 2007 tour for 'Snakes & Arrows'... I didn't recognize the song at the time (From the 1982 album 'Signals') I do hope that Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson will do something as *Lee & Lifeson** if not Rush... They should hire additional musicians to tour - Mike Mangini (former Dream Theater drummer) is available... So is drummer Marco Minnemann (who auditioned for Dream Theater and toured w/ Joe Satriani) ... Dave Lombardo (former Slayer/ Testament drummer) is also an option... Mark Zonder (former Fates Warning drummer) is another name... People deserve to hear Rush songs live again in concert.
Live is so much different from studio album version but I was so glad to hear Alex solo in this version and to see them play it live. I wasn't able to catch them live myself on later tours after 1980. My suggestion is to catch the version off their studio album for this one because to me this version sounds so muddy - you can hear things much more clearly off the studio album release.
great show....some of Geddys finest live bass work on video....especially near the end....he goes "off script" from the studio version....and they usually prided themselves on being able to replicate the studio version, live.....and always did in the 11 glorious shows I saw.....but Geddy adds some monster bass licks in that ending section....so great.....
One of my favorite Rush live performances! Geddy's bass playing in particular stands out to me on this track. As for a future reaction, there are two great live performances of 'Mission'. My personal favorite is Live from Birmingham in 1988. It features beautiful lyrics from Neil and one of Alex's most emotive guitar solos. The live version from the Snakes & Arrows tour is good, too.
Red Head Neighbor, have you ever seen The Boys In Brazil? I’m not talking about the 1978 thriller movie, but the 2003 documentary that recounts Rush’s first experience in South America. I know you’ve seen Rush in Rio videos before, but if you haven’t seen their journey and the difficulties and tribulations just getting there, you’re missing out on a great new reaction opportunity ✌🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸
As I watch this I realize how amazing it was that so much of their music had radio play compared to the Norm! Almost every album. Shout out to K G O N 92.3 FM of Portland Oregon!! Great Reaction again neighbor! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Great reaction. I think this version of DM is my favorite. I like it even more than the original recording from the Signals album. Why, you might ask? Well because it showcases each of the guys talents and watching them perform is second to none. Geds bass line is absolutely off the charts!! A side note about Als “Barbie groupies” is that the roadies would change out the comments on the post it notes from show to show. It showcases just how much the band loved their crew but also their wonderful sense of humor.

This was a fantastic live performance, as is standard. I do recommend listening to the studio version on your own time. I loved your laughing reaction to the "Barbies." It was really only pre-Permanent Waves/Moving Pictures that there was a peculiar lack of woman in the audience, but the joke stuck since women were always in the minority at Rush concerts, even if it was a respectable 60/40 in favor of men. For me personally, well and maybe some male Rush fans who live in SoCal (southern California) in the 80's and 90's like me, the Barbies have another meaning. Though we have all matured, for the most part, at least in front of women, and do now seriously respect them as equals, at least when they are around, this reminds me of the general names we had for women, {really girls just like we were really just boys), in our youth (teens and twenties). Like Birds in England or Chics/chicks in the U.S., or just Babes, etc. Well at least in SoCal, around Huntington Beach, back in the day, we referred to girls in general, as objects of course, with our own nick-names. We used two different names. One was Barbie or Barbie's and the other was Betty or Betty's (as in Betty Boop). Sorry, but it made me laugh too, and it brought back memories of my heady days in California. I actually hung out with guys in a band that did the Hollywood night club circuit regularly, another friend and I helped them as roadies, but during the show we were often mistaken to be the bands managers by both fake and real "producers" with record labels, and we played along, That's the Hollywood way after all. But it lead to a lot of free drinks, great after parties and plenty of Barbie's and Betty's around. I also met a few rock stars, sadly not Rush. Slash from Guns & Roses, Alice Cooper and all of Motorhead for example. Also a couple bands that weren't famous yet...Sublime, Monster Magnet and The Offspring. Oh, the name of the band my friends were in (at the time, never made it beyond the Hollywood scene) was called Side Dog.
@@Newworldman66 I suppose that was an inside joke of sorts for Rush. IIRC in Geddy's book they had a made-up word for the "suits". I can imagine a conversation among the boys "So the suits want us to sign for 15% blah, blah, blah." (Who knows?) Alex had a speech prepared in his pocket but went with the blah, blah, blah thing instead. Much like his guitar solos. Inspired, spontaneous and got the message across.
RUSH and "Easter Eggs" have been a thing from day one. They're found in liner notes and images, tucked into little corners of stage gear, on t-shirts, ticket stubs, posters, and even in your face for everyone to see (rotisserie chicken, popcorn machines, & laundry.) Keep your eyes open ... it's always fun to find one.
Also, those sticky notes Barbie dolls are holding are quotes from the series called "The Biggest Fans" - Alex Lifeson's Barbie Dolls Story, featuring the Barbies 🙂.
Rush made me wait 40 years to listen to all their stuff. Ms Red is gonna do it in 8 months. BTW, as time went on, there were more and more girls going to Rush concerts. By the end, they were everywhere. It was like going to a baby shower or sumpin'.
If you like that ska/reggae beat, I think you'll also like Vital Signs from Moving Pictures, as performed on the Time Machine Tour video. Y'all have a great day now, eh?
Notice the shirt Geddy is wearing, it's a reference to Alex's R&R HOF speech. You watched the Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins bit but didn't watch the band speak. You rock. ❤
Yeah. Has anyone discussed the lyrics? How prophetic is the poem, written in early 80s, of our current culture, 40+ years later? How many Digital Men do you know, who do not need a bed? Like, nearly everyone….
As a Rush fan for 40 years, I have to say I LOVE your reaction videos to the boys. Your joy, enthusiasm and energy is amazing and infectious. I’m so glad you’re loving the band as much as we do. Keep up the fantastic content ❤😎
Well said!
Rotisserie chickens and Barbies - that's how a band stays together for 40 years.
Your reaction to the Barbie dolls was golden. I loved it.
They and the road crew had a lot of fun on tours to lighten things up and would work to do things like that. :) So many long-running jokes through the years.
This is one of my favorite Rush songs. I've played the drums for over 40 years, I still find this song extremely difficult. So great to see a RUSH girl and how much you love them.
usually, they stick so close to the studio version in their live shows, but this one, they are improvising stuff all over the place. So great.
My favorite band.
😂😂😂😂 The fact that you paused there unknowingly is as hilarious as your reaction! ❤😅
Another example why Alex Lifeson is one of the best of all time. Geddy and Neil too.
One of my favorite Rush songs!
The whole Signals album is amazing
One of my favorite bass lines by Geddy. This is a rhythm section feast and Alex adds a great solo to put the icing on the cake.
Lol yeah, as you saw in dinner with rush, they have a great sense of humor . neil said we laughed 70% of the time spent together, now that's some fun working environment 😄
RUSH is one of those bands that stand out in the sea of musical excellence. ❤❤❤
This song has one of my favorite bass lines from Geddy, not to mention one of my favorite guitar solos from Alex. This song is awesome.
I SO love the drums on this one. The bass drum is going crazy making Neil's part sound deceptively simple.
look at that huge crowd'!

Thank you for putting a smile on this old guy's face.
The first time hearing this song was live on the Signals tour. One of my favorite RUSH tours. Great Song...Incredible Trio !!!!
The chicken rotisseries is real too! They had a proper chef that came onstage and checked the chickens from time to time. So funny!
What????
The best ever power trio you have ever seen ❤
In my top 10 from their 80’s songs. Just love this song. That bass playing, especially at the end.
Yeah, Gotta love the Barbie Groupies !! LOL
There are some photos of the Barbies with there signs out there, the road crew changed up the words at times!

I much prefer the studio version of Mission. The live version completely drowns out Alex's guitar accents.
Isnt this version of DM shorter than the recorded one?

Geddy on fire on the bass!
RUSH has a BYOB(arbie) policy.
Their skit called "What's That Smell" that have Barbies as hitchhikers.

Regarding Geddys shirt, you should still revisit their Hall Of Fame appearance to see Alex's speech if you haven't seen that part already.
It is golden.

Look up RUSH's acceptance speeches for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and you'll soon understand the significance of Geddy's shirt... lol :)
The shirt came before the speech.

Analog Kid and Subdivisions are my two favorites on Signals. 😊
Anolog Kid hands down is the best track on that album. Stellar song!
Also, those sticky notes Barbie dolls are holding are quotes from the series called "The Biggest Fans" - Alex Lifeson's Barbie Dolls Story, featuring the Barbies 🙂.
lol!
Feel that , That's right...
❤💛💚
That's Geddy's groupies down by his toes. Yep, he's THAT famous!
They're at Alex's feet, not Geddy's
Check out the original music video for the song "Countdown" the keyboard synth solo is awesome. Love the channel.
They have always been known to not have any women at their concerts LOL but I know a lot are fans and it's a general reality in the prog rock genre
The Barbie dolls 😂 I never knew about that. 😆
Alex s solo on this track absolutely RIP s....
Nice Canadian boys. You know 11 out of 10 silver top Rush fans love YES and Roundabout off the Fragile album

How it is from the Vapor Trails album (remixed version)
Alex said the barbies were the only "groupies" his wife would let him have. 😁

RUSH invented 'Regg N' Roll '.
❤❤ 🇨🇦
Took my wife to 9 Rush shows from the 70's into the late 80's. I think she was the only girl there.....lol
Probably not, but close.
Please do their RRHOF acceptance speech! BLAH! 😆
RUSH Are 3 very silly men also.
The live version doesn't capture the atmosphere of the studio version.
When you're famous for your very male heavy fan base, any way to get some "ladies" in the audience is a positive. Who better than Barbie & Co?
FYI: Your BU2B video is still not on visible RUSH playlist.
Grrrr
This is one of a small minority of their songs that suffers live and the original recording is better. Doesn't happen often...

My understanding is that they rarely played this live so seeing it here is quite the treat. TYSVM for that.
