If you really want to see going ham on the bass, then check out Leave That Thing Alone by Rush. There's a great live version on UA-cam and Geddy absolutely kills it.
Happy to see you guys do Rush again (hopefully more in the future! 🤘😛) What's funny is at some point toward the end, after the last verse, they weren't even playing the song anymore...that was just vamping and showing off. Because they could...because they are that good 😄 Thanks for the react 👍
Once you realize you're Rush fans, you'll address them by either their names or nicknames while reacting! For example, you'll say, "Check out Dirk on the bass! He's killing it. " Or, The Professor is a fucking machine!! "
Love ❤️ to see your faces, you were enjoying it, thanks guys. This was an impressive live performance. I was there in Rotterdam in 2008....it was overwhelmingly good....funny that you said Chemistry, because that is a track from the same album...😂
Neil Peart was an incredible drummer and last year passed away (R.I.P.) ! Like very much his style i have to say... more I listen more I appreciate his feel ! The Sounds are great . Notice the bassist singer and what he is able to reach , to do ... Lead guitar is also incredible . 8'38" Ooh Man you are so on point !
Neil for a year had to play on stuff like magazines, items around the house with a pair of sticks to prove he was dedicated before his parents bought him his first kit. For a lad his age that was discipline. And what a monster of a drummer in his playground hr became!
Greetings from Rush's home, Canada. What you call Canadian Bacon (other than the movie of that name by Michael Moore) we (and the UK, and Ireland and the Commonwealth) call "back bacon". Of course there is Canadian ham, just not a specific named type... we are NOT egotistical, as countries go. Peace and be safe- try dipping into some other Canadian bands- Tragically Hip (Blow at High Dough) or Doug and the Slugs (Makin' It Work) or Max Webster (Battle Scar ft, Rush- all 3).
When this album and track dropped, I didn't really know what to think of it. Was quite a departure stylistically. As time has passed, it's really grown of me. Awesome performance and excellent choice.
Yo ! One of the best trio ever…. Awesome musicians ! Neil Peart’s drum kit il actually a double kit, acoustic & electronic. It took 4 hours to get it ready on stage. Neil’s nickname was the professor and was also called you favorite drummer’s favorite drummer. RIP M Peart
There is a documentary called masters of resonance about his set. I watched it a while back, his last set was made from an old log pulled out of a bog that had been buried for like 1000 years or something nutty like that.
The 2 guitarists, Alex (guitar) and Geddy (bass) have been best friends since they met in junior high school. They brought in Neil (drums) after the original drummer John Rutsy couldn't tour due to health reasons. They have been together every since. There is also an isolated version of this video that is just Neil's drum part. It is excellent. Just search Neil Peart Digital Man isolated. You can hear the guitars in the background.
Neil's kit is 2 kits. His main (big) one and a smaller one behind him. He used to stand up, the kits would spin around and he would play the small kit for certain songs. The electronic pad is for percussion sounds such as a xylophone.
If you look just behind Pearts right shoulder you'll see a small path in between the conventional and electronic kits that allows him to step through to his seat.
Hello from Montreal, wow you guys do a lot of videos. Anyways got into Rush 1980 with Permanent Waves. Totally grew up with them. There’s so many great recommendations for songs (videos) to check out and share but I would suggest from their R40 tour the song Cygnus X-1. It’s a bass drums extravaganza then into a drum solo. Also the great intro to the Time Machine video, in the deli. Take care.
Neil Pearl would get into the drum kit on the back left side by the mallets. They custom-made the drum riser and stands, and one that holds the electronic cymbals folds/moves to let him get in and out of the kit. If you search UA-cam, there are videos of his drum tech going over his gear as he's setting it up for a show.
I know there are real explanations for Neil’s drum kit and the logistics behind it, but I prefer to think of Neil as like a drumming Magneto. His skills are just so powerful that every percussion instrument in his vicinity gets attracted to Neil and ends up in a close orbit around him. That’s why his setup looks the way it does in the Exit Stage Left live video of Xanadu (another great reaction from The Wolf Hunterz to watch)… Neil had just visited a high school auditorium, and their whole percussion section got pulled into Neil’s drum skill vortex. 😆
The rotisserie chickens. It would be memorable watching an entire Rush concert with you two! At least do a reaction to Freewill. It’s the quintessential Rush song.
All this talk of ham when there are several large racks of rotisserie chickens basing in the back.... and not sure if you could see Alex's groupies' by his pedal board - the road crew would put up semi naked barbie dolls with post it note messages for each show... and Alex also has dinosaurs inside or on some of his amps.
The chickens happened out of a joke between the band and the Roadies. Since there are not a lot of girls at the concert they said they didn't know how it felt to have hot chicks rushing the stage, o the roadies provided the hot chicks ! 😅😅😅
Not only do they look and sound great but they probably smelled good too. did you notice those chickens cooking in the background lol. all that talk about ham..lol chicken is where it's at😁
Do we still have Foo Fighters - Everlong with 11yr old Nandi Bushell L.A. Forum 20k people coming up like you said in last months live stream? You HAVE to see it. She blew the roof off/ Give this little girl the flowers she deserves!!!
To me, the albums, Signals and Grace Under Pressure are companion pieces.. Might I suggest "The Weapon", Live from the Grace Under Pressure tour, complete with Halloween type intro from The Count.. (aka Joe Flaherty).
Hey guy’s great channel and upload👏🏼 The pause to show Neil’s kit was nice gave people an overhead perspective of how great(seems like there should be another step above great)Neil Peart was.. saw them too many times to count but my experience(which was kind of a good thing)was that if you had floor seats or even second level seats didn’t matter because all seriousness it was almost impossible to see the guy because not only was his drum kit huge around..it was also piled up really high too but on the floor and a level up you could make out usually just the top of his head but the whole kit would just shake the whole time😁..I’m kinda old school (that’s code for REALLY old)but that situation in particular is when even I like having the big screens all over the place so you don’t miss any details of the show..last thing IMO once they became a big name on the concert scene they started IMO writing songs for the purpose of playing them live even though they were great studio tracks as well..try “ Dreamline” off the Roll the bones album..handful of shows In went to they opened with it and to me it’s still a perfect live opener and great both ways Studio and Live..well thank you for the great content and good luck with everything else friends keep up the good work👍🏼🤘🏼
By the way as crazy complicated as the track is I’m almost positive the “Digital Man” who’s the subject of the song was the 1982 version of a “computer nerd” who I think came to fix something in their studio and the guy/kid barely said 2 words and just didn’t seem capable of even minor small talk..so they were so fascinated by him they watched his every move for the rest of the night until he was finished and then started writing the song as soon as he left😂🤣
Wheres my thing ..live ...best live instrumental ever guys ..bass is twice as fast as this ..if thats possible ..plus a fk off drum solo in the middle ..big ups from the uk guys ..great reactions
Are you brother and sister? You get on too well to be partners, but if you are partners then it is a marriage made in heaven and great reaction by the way.
You should do a reaction to the live version of The Analog Kid from the Clockwork Angels tour. There is a small space between the drums that he is able to get through. I believe it's on the one side between the acoustic, and electric drums.
I'm no sound engineer, but I have been a Rush fan for more than 4 years. IMO, the sound board is totally locked on "Alex Guitar Solo" levels for the whole song, which means the bass and drums do not get to shine as they should in the early melodic parts of this song. The whole thing is just muddy. I highly recommend that you listen to the studio version so you can really hear the individual parts just...pop, and bounce. This song has such a wonderful, clean, light reggae sway to it, and it's very much lost in this recording.
The original release of Signals had the guitars too low in the mix - and Alex even mentioned that in interviews. Only when I hear the Time Machine tour and they are doing songs from Signals do I feel that the guitars finally have the presence they should have had in the beginning. Just my opinion.
Watching you two pretend to act like this is the best thing you have ever seen when I listened to this song hundreds of times on vinyl when I was a teenager is just cringy af. Keep milking the algorithm for content because it seems to be working for you though.. peace
I must disagree with your opinion of this song. I do agree with you about MN, though. It's a fave. But it has been reacted to by Reaction in Action, Brad Poynter, and Fish out of Water.
Alex's guitar playing is so unique. His sound is so full and solos are like nobody else. Love and miss RUSH.
