That sharp turn to land at 14:25, then the video breaks, did that landing go ahead? What was that for? I was going to quote the pilot who flew checks between Federal Reserve Banks about 1988, who was buying a clipboard where I worked, said that flying into, I guess it was Boston, at night was like being in the Battle of Britain. And Matt must do a lot of jogging to keep his weight under control.
Yup - the one where they Blew the Cub off the Runway - HAHA!!! - Watched that only the other day. And then Not long after watched FlightChops in a Super Fortress... When I saw the B17 coming in for landing in Matt's video I was thinking it was the twilight zone of coincidences - because if that was the B29 Super Fortress Chops was in, then it was like a full on Flight Inception-Off!
Living in Lakeland I had the pleasure of watching this chaos over the lake from the ground while listening to the ATC. Hopefully I'll be taking off of runway 9 soon.
Really enjoyed the video Matt. Looks like lots of fun. Had some trouble trying to separate the radio and your speech but I guess that happens as you get older. I am in my mid 70's and have never been in a small aircraft like yours. Stay safe. regards from the UK
That’s not just any TBM900 - it’s owned by one of the two guys who made the record breaking New York to Paris flight earlier this year - in the other guy’s TBM930
@@mattguthmiller I still follow you after your round the world adventure. My son and I were there @ HP Aircraft when you landed a few years ago. Keep it going man! Love your videos!
Great vlog as usual. There is nothing more assume that to be acknowledged by name for the very first time. It keeps you going for the next six months and you will never forget it. Fantastic.
My god. That approach was stressful! I've never flown into Sun N Fun, but I've been into Airventure a number of times, and never have I encountered a controller that was that wound up, and intense.
Cleared for takeoff by your first name you rockstar! I've only ever had that happen when I was the sole aircraft taking off after an aircraft had landed and exited active runway
I used to operate TBMs back in the 1960/70s speed of travel was 1m in 20 mins, she was 3 football fields long and never stopped from 7am Monday till 7am Saturday. By the way they were Tunnel Boring Machines but like you we had a crawl plan to follow for line, and level and believe it or they could slide on curves. The best flight I've been on was in a twin seater powered glider, we flew around the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The instructor was in the Egyptian Airforce senior officer and when ATC complained he gave an airforce call sign, nothing more was said!!!!!!
I liked the wheel over the lake for parking. Great idea. Breaking the dot up into several segments (colored dots) for multiple landings was an excellent idea.
In the clip of the blue angels air show my cousin is the #1 jet. He served in the navy for just over 20 years and then retired but 4 days before the retirement he got called to the blue angels since the old nummber 1 jet Tom Frocsh retired.
Considering the state of poverty and deprivation in the world, I hope you guys appreciate the wonderful advantages you have. Dear heaven, at your age to be able to o what you do. Incredible
Nikko Wings was there too. He was talking about airport restaurants too ... I commented about your love of food and restaurants at airports. He said he wishes he could eat like you ... and after watching this .... even I wish I could eat like that... lol.
Was doing my checkride in Canby and heard you pass by, was going to say hello but the examiner was talking. Flew into Aberdeen last week as well, big fan!
Nice video, you certainly packed a lot of fun into that weekend! I was thinking as you flew the DC3, how about trying for the fastest twin piston circumnavigation record? Would look really good on the CV!👍
5:10 looked like a few planes diverted to zephyr hills until the airport reopened. They all seemed to be starting up as you cruised by. But I think a lot of the airports close early because the larger number of older flyers who seem to think they are the exception to a rule. 9:40 really cool shots of the close formation aerobatic flying. 12:35 Key Weird? You haven't seen anything if you haven't gone to fantasy fest, then you'll see weird. ... Takeoff clearance was cool that your known (in a positive way) in the flying community.
Starting the TBM...do not bring the fuel on at 15%...wait for max rotation before you bring the fuel lever to RUN! Why? Because then you will have a cooler engine start temperature (ITT) which helps prolong the life of the engine.
How do you make sure that you have enough battery life for the camera you mount on your wing tip? I assume you don't film the whole flight? I'd assume that the camera will only have power for up to two hours and some of your flights are way longer than that.
Love the videos! What a fun way to enjoy life! Wish I was in my twenties , I'd do it your way. I've had my license for 30 years and haven't flown in the past 10, The technology today is amazing. Love watching you walk through the panels punching buttons! Read an article recently that Autopilots are doing 90% of the flying today! I was curious if this is true for you as well. Does that mean that a 1000 hr pilot has 100 hrs flying the plane?! What a rush having the tower calling you on first name basis!
Matt, there is this thing called "the internet" now. With it you can find out all sorts of cool stuff...like the hours of operation of a restaurant...and with an app called hotels.com you can make hotel reservations. It's so cool! Using "the internet" means you don't have to go around "winging it" all the time. Just some friendly advice for you, man ;-)
Lol I'd actually looked online earlier that day and everything showed availability so figured I'd wait until we actually got there (never like to *have* to be somewhere), but then they were sold out. We survived on Waffle House instead.
Hey matt, I discovered your videos when I came across your Dc3 journey and absolutely love your videos, been hooked ever since, was wondering if you'd ever come down to NZ (New Zealand) would be awesome to meet you and chat! Want to go back and try to get my wings now. Cheers Ian!
I get a whole lot of doubt from family members regarding Private flying. I don’t know what to say 😐 am willing to learn as I already have been increasing my aviation knowledge. In the west palm beach area and I Plan to enter flight school.
So are you an aviation vlogger, travel vlogger, or food reviewer? Just realized I’ve spent more time watching you eat things than I care to admit. Either way, you’re famous now! Maybe get a call sign... “Matt367”

SuperGenericUser for air shows and aviation events in the states with heavy traffic, there is often an “air boss” that directs traffic with one way communication to keep the frequency less congested. It sounds weird but works incredibly well when trying to sequence an abnormal amount of dis similar aircraft. I think it may have started at Oshkosh years ago and it has worked so well others have adopted it.
You know that you have reached "SuperStar Status" when the controller calls you by your first name. Bravo.....
That’s me in the yellow C150 holding short at Zephyrhills! It was awesome to meet you Matt!
The DC3 pilot, Dan Gryder, was the same guy that featured in a lot of the Flightchops videos. He is an awesome flight instructor
Yup Steve also did a few flights in that DC3 and gave some away, I think the videos are up on his channel
Dan gryder is the same guy who tried to run the police over with his DC-3 and went to jail
@@bradymurphy196 Holy crap you were not kidding.... why the fuck was he doing that?

Halfway expected Matt to be snacking in the middle of the Aeroshell ride
Best comment here! :)
Haha, that's great 😂
I need an inverted pineapple upside down cake review.

Great video as always Matt. Towards the end was that the same B-17 that was lost this past week?

"Everybody knows this guy!" ahahah
Lowkey josh flowers there

D'aheq wuzat!?
I would've landed on the taxi-way just to get out of the controllers voice path🤣🤣🤣
I've been eating at the southern soul bbq, it was really good!
Matt is starting a foodie review channel, he is torn between two hobbies food and flying.
Which B-17 was that? Is it still with us?
Great going there! ;) Love it!
You got to fly the DC3 with my friend Dan.
Instantly recognized him from the flightchops video. He's a real character and should have his own channel!
Awesome!
I wish the dc-3 was still in production
This was back in the spring, right?
It wouldn't be an MG vid without lots of food in it.

Ugh. This video makes me miss living in Florida.
