      Have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
      1. Will you fit a clutch kit that the customer supplies ?
      2. Which in your opinion is better quality, SACHS or LUK, I think the Sachs clutch is slightly more expensive, but I've also been "told" they are better quality ??

    Iv'e been in a mechanic since i left school in the late 70's and always had the facility for doing this kind of work on a workshop lift, and in years gone by iv'e done the odd clutch change on someones drive, and once in the pouring down rain, that was unpleasant to say the least i couldn't/wouldn't do it now (I'm in my late fifties), we don't see your face but i suspect your a young man, and that's what it is, its a young mans game, it's damned hard work doing a clutch change on the floor, hat's off to you mate, all the best..

    Hi. This is my first time watching one of your videos. Just an FYI. If you use a motorcycle jack, then you can use that to hold the transmission on and off the car. It will save your back. It will also make it pretty easy to put it back in there without tiring. I had to do the clutch on my mr2 twice and that motorcycle jack holds the transmission just perfect since they have that odd shape.

    Great video😊 I also had a non SAC clutch from Sachs original, but the new one I ordered is a Luk-SAC clutch. On my parts it looks like the new parts vs. old parts have some different meassurements; fingers on the diaphragm spring is sticking more far out from the pressure plate than the old one. Have you had any concerns with this? Or is it just the design that fools me, and the total distance from the crank to the fingers is the same as the old one? Is it common to change from non SAC to SAC clutch?

I just didnt see it.( Different design than the Luk clutch). So things look the same as in your video. If its a Sachs kit replaced by a Luk kit? So far the van has been good as gold ..,

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому +3

      Colin for VAG engines I will always go for LUK it’s more expensive than SACHS.,
      Reason being
      *LUK’s pressure plate has an automatic adjuster built in between the contact surface and fingers .,,
      *LUK’s pressure has designed a vent system in the plate cover to allow maximum airflow to keep the friction plate cool.,
      Sachs hasn’t got the extra features which in my opinion
      *causes the clutch system to heat up and as a result damages the thin spacers in the flywheel.,
      *on very long journeys the pressure plate springs becomes rigid which makes the clutch pedal feels hard. A lot more pressure on the slave cylinder.
      For a Non DMF I will always go for Sachs as the flywheel design allows air to flow freely through the cut outs .,,
      What I’ve found over years clutch wears 50% Quicker due to lack of air flow .,

    Hello! I watched with interest how you changed the clutch to the 2007 Passat.
    Great!👌
    I would have 2 questions:
    1) Last week I changed the following at my Diesel Passat (BKP 2005) to a service in Austria: Reconditioned gearbox (6-speed manual HDV), new complete clutch kit from Valeo and shift cable - new (3C0 711 265AD). The company from which I bought the reconditioned gearbox (Getriebezentrum Europa) , expressly requested in the Warranty Certificate that 3.8L oil be poured into the gearbox because the gearbox was completely disassembled and reconditioned (those from VW in Exchange say 2,3-2,4 Even if the box has been completely disassembled), The same Company says further: it should be changed after between 500-1500Km and again after 20000km, on the contrary, I do not benefit from the guarantee. What do you think?
    What do you think about quantity? Why is there such a difference from what VW says? Have you ever encountered something like this?
    2) Now when I start from the spot, while I leave the clutch slightly and accelerate at the same time, in the middle of the clutch pedal stroke, there is a tremor (the car shakes a little at that moment, which is also felt by the other passengers). The same thing happens when I want to stop and apply the clutch before applying the brake (speed of 3-5 km / hour). At the service I complained about this fact which was not present before and He was told to drive 1000km, until the components run in because they are new (I didn't feel anything before because there were lose) ... He said he also made the necessary adjustments to reset the cables / gearbox. However...
    Today I took the car out of service and I keep thinking about these 2 problems. From what can it be? Have you ever faced such problems?
    Thanks! 👋

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 роки тому +1

      Definitely follow the gearbox company’s instructions. This will make sure all the gears are properly coated with oil. Then drain and re fill with correct amount.
      Did you change the clutch kit and flywheel..?

      Sure, as I wrote I changed everything starting from the hydraulic pressure bearing to the double table flywheel everything new from Valeo (because the kit from Sachs arrived incomplete-without flywheel and the mechanic said to mount it) .
      Today I was to VW to change winter wheel and he said that is not normal. It's a problem with clutch- but what?
      They can't get involved in the work done by another service, but they can mount them again if I want - for a fee of course.

    Hey, was I in the same country, I would definitely let you work on my passat b6 2.0 TDI. Sadly I am not and I am now going from one mechanic to another, spending big bucks for such an old car - still, no help on horizon.
    Firstly, I had troubles shifting to first and reverse gear with the clutch fully engaged. Tried to lubricate the linkage joints, but no help. After some time, even with the clutch fully engaged, I could not shift out of 1st or reverse gear.
    The worst came after when the car actually tried to move when I was in 1st or reverse with the clutch fully engaged.
    Than pretty much all sounded like a faulty clutch (especially the third symptom, since whatever can be happening in the gearbox, the clutch needs to disconnect it from the wheels and car cannot be trying to move). So I got the clutch replaced (including the slave cylinder and flywheel). Couple of minutes of driving and the same symptoms reappeared.
    After that, I got the master cylinder replaced, seemed pretty logical since the pedal also felt a bit "jumpy" from time to time it did not exactly follow my foot when disengaging the cluch, but moved akwardly slowly and then jumped. It did not help and in addition, the mechanic damaged the wiring so I constanly had a fault reappearing (clutch valve implausible signal).
    So I went to another mechanic so he can take a look and find the cause. He again, swapped the master cylinder because of the implausible signal, but he could not unveil the real issue. He said that there is no leak or anything similar.
    Very important point is that after I start the car, the clutch works fine. However, after like 15 minutes of driving, changing gears, it starts acting that way and it gets worse with more driving. Again, after driving in one gear for a longer time or leaving the car over night, it becomes "normal" until I drive it a little and use the clutch.
    The hydraulic system was bled as well. To me, it sounds like some component (e.g. high pressure hose expands under heat and then becomes normal) or something else that causes loss of presure in the hydraulic system.
    I am desparate, it already easily costed me a half of the cars worth. Please, any idea?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  Рік тому
