Hi just a quick one, I'm taking this job on myself, but I've been told I need the self adjusting clutch tool, although in the video, I see you use only the clutch alignment tool, how necessary is the self adjusting tool? Hey, was I in the same country, I would definitely let you work on my passat b6 2.0 TDI. Sadly I am not and I am now going from one mechanic to another, spending big bucks for such an old car - still, no help on horizon. Firstly, I had troubles shifting to first and reverse gear with the clutch fully engaged. Tried to lubricate the linkage joints, but no help. After some time, even with the clutch fully engaged, I could not shift out of 1st or reverse gear. The worst came after when the car actually tried to move when I was in 1st or reverse with the clutch fully engaged. Than pretty much all sounded like a faulty clutch (especially the third symptom, since whatever can be happening in the gearbox, the clutch needs to disconnect it from the wheels and car cannot be trying to move). So I got the clutch replaced (including the slave cylinder and flywheel). Couple of minutes of driving and the same symptoms reappeared. After that, I got the master cylinder replaced, seemed pretty logical since the pedal also felt a bit "jumpy" from time to time it did not exactly follow my foot when disengaging the cluch, but moved akwardly slowly and then jumped. It did not help and in addition, the mechanic damaged the wiring so I constanly had a fault reappearing (clutch valve implausible signal). So I went to another mechanic so he can take a look and find the cause. He again, swapped the master cylinder because of the implausible signal, but he could not unveil the real issue. He said that there is no leak or anything similar. Very important point is that after I start the car, the clutch works fine. However, after like 15 minutes of driving, changing gears, it starts acting that way and it gets worse with more driving. Again, after driving in one gear for a longer time or leaving the car over night, it becomes "normal" until I drive it a little and use the clutch. The hydraulic system was bled as well. To me, it sounds like some component (e.g. high pressure hose expands under heat and then becomes normal) or something else that causes loss of presure in the hydraulic system. I am desparate, it already easily costed me a half of the cars worth. Please, any idea?
The pressure plate is worn. Once the metal gets hot the springs gets weaker therefore not fully disengaging the clutch. Replace the whole lock, stock and Barrel
Hi Kevin did one of these the other day only took 7 hours 😂 on a dead end narrow lane with a brambles bush to my side as I worked in the rain! 😂 trying to follow your foot steps! Would it ever be possible to come work with you for a week?
I just go by feel. ., If it’s stretch bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 90• turn on top. If it’s solid bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 45• turn on top. Thanks for the support. ✨🍻🍻
Lovely job... is that a performance flywheel and clutch? Love the video and attention to detail with cleaning and greasing.. your techniques are awesome... wonder how much you would charge?? 😂
Good work and clear space! I might say that VW is a bit boring. Some red rubber grease in the joining cup of the drivestaft to avoid leaking? I still wonder how you manage to change the hydraulic jack position to raise the engine... 600 luk points is about a bag of peanuts or something? 😄 It seems you changed the syringe and the pressurized brake cleaner. Thank you very much for the video!
600 points you get just the bag of nuts without the peanuts .. Yes a new syringe. New pressure bottle new jack yet to be used and some replacement tools .,, I believe in re investing in my work tools and equipment before they fail.. Swapping the jack to the gearbox I can’t show on video due to health and safety. .,, I hold the gearbox with one hand and swap the jack with the other hand ..,,

I'm intending having a go at my Alhambra clutch soon. Your vids have been a great help! The tracking will need doing once everything is back in place won't it?? How about a Sharan/Alhambra next time one comes up?! 👍
If you owned a VW/AUDI which required a new DMC would you go Luk or Sachs based on your experience.Which of the two brands would you chose for quality and longevity? If anyone knows its probably you. Cheers Col.
Colin for VAG engines I will always go for LUK it’s more expensive than SACHS., Reason being *LUK’s pressure plate has an automatic adjuster built in between the contact surface and fingers .,, *LUK’s pressure has designed a vent system in the plate cover to allow maximum airflow to keep the friction plate cool., Sachs hasn’t got the extra features which in my opinion *causes the clutch system to heat up and as a result damages the thin spacers in the flywheel., *on very long journeys the pressure plate springs becomes rigid which makes the clutch pedal feels hard. A lot more pressure on the slave cylinder. For a Non DMF I will always go for Sachs as the flywheel design allows air to flow freely through the cut outs .,, What I’ve found over years clutch wears 50% Quicker due to lack of air flow .,
@@WMCS Hi Kevin, thank you so much for sharing you experience and hard won knowledge.I will be following you good advice and buying a Luk DMC in the future for my Golf Mk 6 1.6 tdi cayc.I very much appreciate your detailed answer, thank you for taking the time. Great job dude. That crappy little tin plate cover behind the o/s drive shaft cup with the 10mm bolt though....!, good thing you knew it was there, sneaky bastards at VW would have me fighting with that box all day for the sake of a hidden 10mm !. Haha.

please say you used a torque wrench on those wheel bolts because i didn't see one in your hand the whole video.. just the Buzzy gun.
Great video showing how to do the job. hat off to you made that look easy on the drive well done !
Wow! Gotta feeling you've done this before.
Once or twice 😁🍻✨
Yet another excellent job Kevin
you are the best of the best anonymos mechanique auto of world👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌👌👌✌✌✌
Thanks you help my so much.
Great Job
I come from Bayern Germany
Great vedeo 👏👍👍 we must said the true this guy is a really good mechanic 👌 this guy is a really fucking good 👍 👏 he knows really about this caind of the work cheers from Portugal 🇵🇹
Thanks for a great feedback and for supporting the channel 🍻🍻
You are brilliant & really Professional
Thank you Mohamed ✨✨
What a smooth and clean work.
🍺🍺🍺
You are an iron man ! How you can do this ? I changed my clutch on fiat grande punto following your videos, but when I tryed to lift the gearbox with my body like you .. I lost !! So after I used a pallet truck an some piece of wood to lift the gearbox and I finisched the work but ... it was a hard job ! Top Kevin, I like very much your videos !
Ivan they are a bit heavy some of the boxes. But for a fiat I’d say it’s not so bad. But glad you managed to use some initiative to get it back on. Well done to you ✨✨✨🍻✨🍻✨
You are the freakin man Kev..🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Now time to put it through the paces, WHATS IT GOT STUNTMAN?!
It’s got everything you’d expect from a Passat 🍻✨✨
Cool as always all the best Shaun
This guy is a human clutch robot
I love it .,, life wouldn’t be the same otherwise 😁🍻🍻
Hi just a quick one, I'm taking this job on myself, but I've been told I need the self adjusting clutch tool, although in the video, I see you use only the clutch alignment tool, how necessary is the self adjusting tool? The tool is supposed to give the flywheel the correct preload on to the flywheel I've read. Thank you an kind regards
Jake to be honest I haven’t used one.
Never had any problems to date with just the clutch alignment tool.
Top man thank you, hopefully mine goes as smooth as this 🤞🤞 one of the easier ones I'm led to believe. Great work buddy, you do a great job of positioning the camera so we can see exactly what's going on. Keep up the great work !
this dude is nothing without his milwaukee screw driver haha ... good work ^^
Another great job by Kevin top class👍👌👏👏👏
I just got the whole new kit like a month ago without any change.
superb tutorial on how to do it right
Hi Kevin did one of these the other day only took 7 hours 😂 on a dead end narrow lane with a brambles bush to my side as I worked in the rain! 😂 trying to follow your foot steps! Would it ever be possible to come work with you for a week?
Do you torque the flywheel/pressure plate bolts or just know him tight to go with the gun? Great videos 👌🏻👌🏻
I just go by feel. .,
If it’s stretch bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 90• turn on top.
If it’s solid bolts as soon as it hits hard I get a 45• turn on top.
Thanks for the support. ✨🍻🍻
Great video
Thanks from France
Great video, congratulation Master!
👏👏muy bien. Con pocos recursos. Excelente trabajo
Tapón del aceite puesto con una pistola de impacto ??? 😓😓
Lovely job... is that a performance flywheel and clutch? Love the video and attention to detail with cleaning and greasing.. your techniques are awesome... wonder how much you would charge?? 😂
Great video. One question: Is it necessary to remove the fluid from the gearbox?
Which one is better, Luk or Sachs !?
Good job man, many great things.
37:40 damnnn you did go into beast mode...
Even in the garage we shout for a second person to help fit it in😅😅
✨🍻😆.,, it wasn’t that bad to be honest. Harder when standing up I suppose.
Swapping the jack to the gearbox I can’t show on video due to health and safety. .,, I hold the gearbox with one hand and swap the jack with the other hand ..,,
@@WMCS Man, that is awesome!
Thank you very much for the classes on mechanics. I thingk that showing your job makes it more valuable. Specially for those who think these things are easy and take little time. Take care! Are you using a mail for PayPal support?
this is pohang sout korea .
im enjoying the video you uploaded.
im on the vw cc tdi 2010 model.
i have a question which country is
That.
Thank you see you next time
Hi Pohang.,, I am here in these United Kingdom 🇬🇧
@@WMCS
take care of your self.
Take a hot bath often.
I'm intending having a go at my Alhambra clutch soon. Your vids have been a great help! The tracking will need doing once everything is back in place won't it?? How about a Sharan/Alhambra next time one comes up?! 👍
I will try and find one for you. But otherwise the engine and gearbox is exactly the same as this one .., no tracking will be required .., ✨✨🍻
@@WMCS Excellent, thank you. 👌👍
If you owned a VW/AUDI which required a new DMC would you go Luk or Sachs based on your experience.Which of the two brands would you chose for quality and longevity?
If anyone knows its probably you. Cheers Col.
Colin for VAG engines I will always go for LUK it’s more expensive than SACHS.,
Reason being
*LUK’s pressure plate has an automatic adjuster built in between the contact surface and fingers .,,
*LUK’s pressure has designed a vent system in the plate cover to allow maximum airflow to keep the friction plate cool.,
Sachs hasn’t got the extra features which in my opinion
*causes the clutch system to heat up and as a result damages the thin spacers in the flywheel.,
*on very long journeys the pressure plate springs becomes rigid which makes the clutch pedal feels hard. A lot more pressure on the slave cylinder.
For a Non DMF I will always go for Sachs as the flywheel design allows air to flow freely through the cut outs .,,
What I’ve found over years clutch wears 50% Quicker due to lack of air flow .,
@@WMCS Hi Kevin, thank you so much for sharing you experience and hard won knowledge.I will be following you good advice and buying a Luk DMC in the future for my Golf Mk 6 1.6 tdi cayc.I very much appreciate your detailed answer, thank you for taking the time.
Stay safe and strong in your work, glad you always use double axle stands and removed wheels under the vehicles you service.
Salut, encore une superbe vidéo, tu utilise quoi comme dégraissant ? nettoyant frein en bidon ou autre.
👍🏽👏 again the clutches warrior !
But how much does this thing weigh , the gearbox ???
This one was a big baby .,, I had to proper cradle it. Easy 70kg I’d say
@@WMCS Waou ! 💪bravo 👏👏👏
Great job dude. That crappy little tin plate cover behind the o/s drive shaft cup with the 10mm bolt though....!, good thing you knew it was there, sneaky bastards at VW would have me fighting with that box all day for the sake of a hidden 10mm !. Haha.
It’s a right struggle getting the box out without removing that little shield. 😂😂.,, I learned the hard way many moons ago.
Quick question: Was the fluid you squirted inside the Clutch-Cover engine oil? (1h 4min) Thanks for the great Video 😃
Brake cleaner.
Great job! 👍 It helped me a lot.
Glad to know the video came in handy.
Hi Kevin, this the same as my Seat Exeo 2.0 tdi? Amazing work pal.
That’ll be the same engine
59:00 still amazes me how those 3 tiny bolts dont break while driving fast or over bumpy roads.
Hi there when u wil came to roumania to fix my renault clio 1.5 dci i have a lot of work to do on her the shock absorbers front and behind the disc brakes and other small things ,things that other mechanics from here don't know how to do or do not wanted because they are lazy ,fat ones and their only preocupation is to get money to easy and not to work properly to peoples cars.i will watch u every time u post a video to learn something or to enjoy ur work, thank u sir.good day
