- It's been a while since my last sound comparison video.
I just had to make this one because all 3 version of the Vantage were on track at the same time during these testdays in march.

I honestly miss the screaming sounds of the old Aston Martin DBR-9 and the 2013 -2014 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 ~
I love those aswell.
dbrs-9 sounds the best
I dont know why but i love gt4 cars
If you put GTE, GT3, GT4, TCR cars together in the same race, I wonder how great it will be, especially if all classes are full, and you go to a huge track like Spa
@@freedommachine4633 Have you looked at VLN? There are no GTEs (as they're exclusive to LMS/WEC, right?) but almost everything else. GT3, GT4, Cup Cars, TCR.
@@frool76 GTE are also used with IMSA and the GTD are just GT3 so there is a good speed comparison between the two classes there.
It's a bigger number so it means there's more power! Just like the numbers for the gauge of wire! 😜
@@arivette2010 my reply is a kinda late, but I think that GTD cars are a bit de-rated in power to allow a speed difference to GTLM cars, compared to GT3 spec cars in other series such as the SRO GT world challenge or Super GT. Last year at Laguna Seca, the GT3 cars in GT World Challenge America posted quicker laptimes compared to GTD (about 1.6 seconds quicker in pole position).
These comparison videos are good, keep doing them!
Nice to see a sound comparison between these cars 👍👍👍. Great video
I hope the bmw m8 has three versions as well,a m8 Gt3 would be AMAZING
Excellent camera work! You earned yourself a sub
Crazy how much sound changes depending on whether the exhaust is side exit or not and the length/shape/size of the actual piping.
Damn the old vantage V8 GTE and V12 GT3 was better than this almost inaudible V8s
Well yeah. One was NA and the other was a v12. No shit.
The new vintage has a amg engine that’s normal.
Trent Michel okey Sherlock
Franck joseph mmm nope? Go listen to the AMG GT3 it sound thousand times better than this and louder, so nothing to do with the AMG engine.
All 4 Fun this new vintage gt3 has an amg engine (even the normal car) from benz cause benz works now with aston for the engine ,just for the vintage and i know amg gt3 is louder than the vintage cause the benz exhaust is too loud. The vintage GTE has an engine more powerful and it is too loud.
Awesome video as always
Great video! This aston Martín is really beautiful for me.
It would've been interesting to hear the dtm vantage as well
Unbeliveble Video👍 can you please make such a Video with the old Gen. Vantage?
A comparison between the old and new gte? I could do that. 😎
0:10 You've got to love that 😍
00:21 for me 👌
I went to the WEC race in Austin, the old Aston was the best sounding car there 😍
high quality audio love it
It would be perfect if the DTM vantage is also compared🎉
It uses 4 cylinder turbocharged engine so it would be completely different
DTM is a lot lot faster (basically almost LMP2 pace) with very different engines. Would still be interesting to compare though
Yeah very different engine, but to be honest it sounds brilliant and somewhat similar to the GTE (since the GTE has a flat plane crank, which is functionally the same as two 4 cylinder engines stuck together)
@@mattimyck inline 4 cylinder or horizontally opposed 4 cylinder?
@@heiko207 _“…same as two 4 cylinder engines stuck together”_ someone once said to me the W16 in the Bugatti Veyron is two V8 stuck together. I laughed and uploaded a picture of that exact engine. qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-8a4ff2640fabbd86980b816709c617a5.webp
The GT4 cars look like they have no downforce, but it does - it's so sleek! Beautiful
The vantage is so awesome.
The gt3 version sounds better than the gte version it's like a strong NA V8
I wonder what engines with VVEL sound like, there's no camshaft! I'll go to a Nissan dealership to find out. _“Nissan's No Throttle Engine - How VVEL Works”_ by Engineering Explained. ua-cam.com/video/v3QxsJRNigs/v-deo.html
What do you think about the sound of this BMW i8? 😜😇😈 ua-cam.com/video/fzoTUEsZTVk/v-deo.html
Is there no vantage for DTM?
0:10 I really thought it was a video game lol
Excellent
Wish the DTM was in there too.
Ce circuit incroyable !
Very nice 😎
idk why the flat plane crank v8 turbo engines get so much hate. the M8 GTE and Vantage GTE both sound really incredible in person. Sure, it's no v12, but these things still sound awesome!
Because racing "fans" are crybabies Most of the time
BMW makes a great sound because it is unique. But I have been to the Wec race last weekend and the aston martin sound just isn't that spectacular and also not unique. But I am happy that they still have a v8 so I am not complaining
I mean they don't sound nearly as good as the naturally aspirated motors but they're not bad. A little quiet for my tastes though.
I have no problem with them, but it kills variety when all cars have the typical 4l Twinturbo V8. At least Bimmer sounds unique, Ferrari pretty nice but the Aston sounds boring IMO and now if(/when) Corvette will go for it too, it will be rather boring. Only spice to the mix will be Fords (although they might be gone too soon) and thankfully Porsches. It would be nicer to have at least one crossplane V8, be it even turbo like Vantage GT3, to give some variety and personally I like them more. But sadly the rules limit displacement to 4l with turbo engines, which means turbo V8's will all be flatplane for weight saving reasons & the engines not being able to use the advantages of crossplane V8 by having larger displacement :(
But then nothing beats the sound of a V12
I miss the old NA Aston Martins.
Nice 🔊
The same specs for gte and gt3?
I can see that the GTE and GT3 have expanded wheel wells. The GT4 is the same body as the 2020 street vantage. Are the hoods/bonnets of the GTE , GT3 and GT4 the same fit. Can one replace one or the other, or are they all different sizes.
Gt3 and gte are almost identical but gt4 is completely different
My dream car
Did you happen to catch the lap times for each car? It would be interesting to know the difference between each class.
GT4s lap in around 2:30, GT3 around 2:18 and GTE is another 2s faster. Keep in mind that GTE don't have ABS and loose time during braking compared to GT3.
@@LukasM55 hmm interesting... So does GTE just have different/better aero setup for more grip in corners? Or do they actually have less downforce and make up for the braking deficit with higher top speed?
@@dandc2011 GTE cars has more power (50hp more than GT3) , low gravity center (GTE allows a lower height than GT3 and that's makes them faster due the less drag on straight line) and better aero package. The only thing I'm not sure it's if Michelin's tires from Wec have a softer compound than Pirelli's Blancpain
Tires do play a big role, but so does aero and engine.
The Michelin tires for WEC are available in different compounds while they use only one compound in Blancpain
It's also useful to note the comparison between GTE/GT3 and DTM. The cars may superficially look very similar, but DTM cars are about 7-11 seconds per lap faster depending on the track. Super GT cars are similar pace to DTM.
Great video. Thanks for the comparaison.
Aston Martin was the last manufacturer to race a V12 in motorsport until February this year at Bathurst.
Now they're racing a souless 4.0 engine... GT3 and GT4 sound too much AMG and the GTE is so muted... I understand it was very difficult, costly and compromising racing two sort of engines in the older Vantage platform, but both NA 5.9 V12 and 4.7 V8 had soul and symphony... The 4.7 will hold it's last race at Le Mans next month in the GTE Am class. Sad...
Sorry I can't move on from engines and cars I use to approached very close in my life.
Hope is not lost isn't aston martin supposed to be entering the new hypercar class in wec with the valkyrie - maybe the V12 won't die off
Unfortunately you are quite right. But racing restrictions have just brought the companies that can still stick with it right down. It's impossible to fight, and it will only get worse
If iam not mistaken the old V8 was a 4.5 liter that was enlarged from the original 4.3 Road engine.
You're right but in my opinion the question is a little bit deeper.. , the Euro regulations with those noise restrictions and emissions restrictions are killing motorsport.. , have you ever imagine a race car with mufflers 20 years ago? Impossible, and now we have it. Same for emissions, manufacturers are making small engines with one or two turbos which makes the cars more silent.. and it's gonna be even worse in 10/15 years where every road/race car gonna be full electric
@@dsr_2443 Aston Martin hasn't signed onto the Hypercar class at all.
The GT4 is used in the IMSA Pilot Challenge
They all sound amazing bit I think I like the gt3 the best
Can someone tell me what the difference is between GT3 and GTE?
Mark GTE has more power, more aero and no abs, according to Nicki Thiim.
GTE used to be GT2
GT3 = GTD = GT300.
GTE is commonly known as GTLM, more power, more downforce
Is gte faster than gt2?
Where is the dtm version
Sounds great i just wish it was louder
Nice Video
Compared to the old ones, all sound more or less bad in my opinion
Wow, the GTE and GT3 are/sound almost identical. The GT4 does sound the raunchier of the three
GT3 and GTE are almost identical. GT4 isn’t far away from the street version.
Wait, are they using the same engine ?
The GTE sounds much more like a 488 GTE, while the GT3/GT4 souds like the road AMG GT: a more deep V8 rumble.
Same car even. One of the sales points for this is that you can convert the GT3 to a GTE and back in about five hours. It does require an engine change however (different regulations for GTE and GT3). www.dailysportscar.com/2018/10/25/converting-the-gt3-aston-martin-vantage-to-gte-spa-and-back.html
same block, different crankshaft (flat-plane instead of cross-plane)
eazy-kill-72 also different revs limiters, the GTE revs more
@@heiko207 so GT3 has a crossplane and GTE has flatplane?
@@heiko207 okay, I see. thanks
So.. first two cars have the same stats?
Very similar engine performance, vastly different aero setup (GTE is better due to regulations in all aspects)
Nice 👌
but where's the dtm ones?
Not the same base car but a silhouette and totally different engine.
What’s the difference between GTE and GT3?
GT3 = GTD = GT300.
GTE is commonly known as GTLM, more power, more downforce
What’s the difference between gte and gt3
GT3 = GTD = GT300.
GTE is commonly known as GTLM, more power, more downforce
whats the difference between GT3 and GTE regulations? because this video shows the cars having the same specs
I think the brakes, etc are different
Brakes, aero and engine. Also chassis is abit different too.
GT3 = GTD = GT300.
GTE is commonly known as GTLM, more power, more downforce
😍😍😍
The Gt3 have the V8 Sound that we love, the GTE it's like a Ferrari V8
I'm sorry I like the sound of the last gen better. It's s shame that they had to go to amg for engines.
The old Vantage GTE V8 have the best sound
I missed V12 Vantages :(
What bout DTM?
That would be cool but not featured unfortunately.
Can you do this with Porsche 🤩👍
It's really interesting and odd. The GT4 and GT3 cars sound like V6s or a Boxer-6 instead of a V8 due to how muffled sounding it is.
They're both cross plane with less revs so they sound better at slower and medium speeds where as GTE is flatplane with higher revvs so sounds better at medium high speeds.
Be that said neither sound much cop at 10/10th's due to the turbos.
The only difference I know are the sound the engine it’s self and the amount of rpm they give 😊
There is DTM aswell
Everyone is hating on these but in my opinion these are probably some of the best sounding on the grid at the current time
I prefer the current 991 GT3-R and AMG GT3 over these.
The GTE sounds rather muted at points like there's not much depth to them and the GT3 and 4 sound kind of like an AMG.
Porsche GTLM sounds crazy loud
what is the difference between GT3 and GTE?
The GT3 cars has anti-lock brakes where the GTE does not. The fuel cells are different sizes. Engines are almost identical AMG built V8s. There's also some differences in the bodywork, I know for the sure the rear diffuser and wing are different between the two. Aston Martin Racing designed the car so that a customer could easily convert the car to run in either class just by changing a few components.
@@jonrobertson2269 thanks for that info
GT3 = GTD = GT300.
GTE is commonly known as GTLM
Confusing names overall
@@jonrobertson2269 Also GTE is flatplane and GT3 is cross-plane.
GT3 is the car that I have sat and driven before optimum motersport
i miss the dbr9. ;(
I hope the BMW m8 has three versions like this
It doesn't and will not.
Well they could always use the new BMW Z4 and go back to Old times right,oh how I love the sound of the old BMW Z4 GT3
Some teams are still racing the M6 GT3
But I believe the M8 is a GTLM only car
@@deletedaccount966 M4 for GT4, M6 for GT3 and M8 for GTE
Thanks for letting me know. If I am correct, the M6 used to be raced in GTLM a few years ago, before they introduced the M8.
Now DTM
Prefer the GT4 :)
Sound more like v6 tt’s except the GTE, terrible noise but good looking cars too be fair
The moment you realize the Mercedes AMG GT BlackSeries might have the actual race engine of the Aston Martin GTE car 😳😅
There is a difference between each class.
No DTM 🤔
Vantage's DTM is more of a silhouette and has 2L inline 4 engine.
Sound>looks
The vantage gt3 and gte have exactly the same stats and the only difference is the gte doesn’t use abs
The differences are bigger than that. Different aero package and fuel tank. Gte engine has modified pistons, cylinder heads, camshafts and exhaust manifolds
Still better than red bull F1 car V6 era.
GTE : Ngeeengggg. . .
GT3 : Dududu. .. Ngeenggh
GT4 : Brrrrrt. . . Ngeeeng
GT3-V8 GT4-V12
What ?
They all use the same V8 Twin turbo from Mercedes AMG.
Gt3
all astons sound like they have silencers on them
More like asmr
*_GT3 are the best_*
Good engines, but boring sounds.
I agree. Want the old V8 GTE sound back.
GTE TOP
That mercedes engine sounds flat as a fart in comparison to the old Aston N/A V8
yah still more reliable, more power output etc. other than the sound, the aston engine was worse
@@azeQify the old engine was incredibly reliable. No its never going to be a powerful without turbos but who cares ? Its much more charismatic
@@azeQify Actually they were just as powerful. They just couldn't match the torque.
Prefer the Bentley's deep rumble.
Gte: that tryhard ingame
Gt4:pro
Gt3:newbie
at least its not electric
You have forgot the DTM Version
DTM is a lot faster with very different types of engines. Would still be interesting to compare though!
The GT3 is the best sounding one here but god damn do they all sound horrible.
V8 and the V12 are better sounding
the wing gets bigger and the car gets lower. case closed.
GT3 Vantage but they sound meh...
Ummmm.... Mercedes engine? Explain...
Mercedes and Aston Martin have partnered up to deliver the engines.
they all sound like trash but if i had to choose one it would be the GTE
Can't hear shit
None sound good
More flat sounding generic junk, this crap is going to eventually kill racing from a spectator point of view, the snowflakes may like it but they sit on their backsides at home and very rarely go to see any racing.
I have been going for 40years,.... in its heyday thank goodness, tick tock.. LOL
WTF.. I mean I get it doesn't sound like much cop but this is the compromise for performance. This is where thing's are going my dude.
