FadeTronic - Technology to protect your eyes with a slow fade out post weld. Smooth transitions make for comfortable eyes.
Re-Chargeable - this is unique for welding helmets these days. The lithium-polymer battery is recharged either by the welding light or by ambient light. The battery can also be charged directly with any USB charger via a micro-USB interface. Environmentally friendly and fast charging option is available. (30 minute charge can last for 6-8 hours of welding)
5 sensors to ensure the helmet is protecting your eyes
Grinding Mode - Like many Optrel Helmets the grind mode can be accessed via the side external button or from the inside. Truly a multifunctional safety device!

I used a Speedglas for several years, loved the helmet... great headgear, great shell, excellent big wide and tall view lens, but then I ruined it one day as I usually run TIG (mostly SS work), but I had this big black iron project that I ran MIG on, and I forgot I had removed the outer dust lens ('cause mine was all scratched up, and you don't need any protection for TIG)... I realized it as I was lying on my back doing close-up 4G with MIG, and after about a couple hours I was wondering why my lens was so 'dirty', nope... I completely destroyed my lens with MIG splatter (major fail). So I thought of replacing the lens (which is never cheap), but then I saw ads and videos for the Optrel 2.0, and decided to give it a try... and whoa! I was floored by how amazing the lens is, it's like you don't even have a lens, you just have eyeball superpowers and can weld without a hood. Oh man, once you try out the Clear Lens Tech, you'll never go back. And as far as the helmet goes (it's the original release version that I got several years ago), the headgear is pretty simplistic and cheap, it's always either too tight or too loose on my head, not comfortable. I've had better headgear on cheap non-auto hoods. And the plastic hood itself is just too light, too fragile, too flimsy... and it's already cracked and I treat my welding hoods carefully. (my Speedglas never cracked). But even with its flimsy hood, and crappy headgear, I still would never go back to anything else... So seeing that they came up with new headgear interests me for sure, but it looks overkill, doesn't look like you can just put the hood on quickly like you would a hat... you have to use two hands and clamp it down each time... looks like Optrel overreacted to people saying the original headgear left much to be desired. But their lens, yeah... miles above any other manufacturer, unless someone else has their own version now. The clear lens can mess you up sometimes though, you get so used to not seeing any difference between natural light and while welding, that sometimes I've forgotten to put my helmet on thinking I already had it on (especially when I was doing some grinding work with no hood, and just a pair of safety glasses and ear muffs on, as it made me feel like i had a hood on my head... until that flash and then i'm like, crap!). Yeah, I wondered about the Panoramaxx with your eyes too close to the lens and your nose shoved up into the helmet, if that was gonna be an issue... and it seems it is for a lot of people, so I guess it matters how your head is shaped, if you wear glasses or not, or use a cheater lens (like I do), etc... Too bad you can't try the helmets first... like a road test. I wouldn't mind having a second hood just in case i screw up my main one.

You might be surprised by the new lense tech from other companies. I have a Speedglass 9002x thats probably 10 years old and is my daily driver, Ive welded with a buddies new Optrel and was amazed by the clarity as well. But work just upgraded us all with new Speedglas G5-01’s and they clarity of the lense is easily comparable to the Optrel, and you can actually adjust the lense colour between red green and blue with the click if a button. Its a fantastic lense, and the hood is just as robust as any Speedglas.

I've welded with a panoramaxx for over a year now and it's awesome. Its extra safety for high traffic areas, and great welding, and great sensitivity. The biggest problems with them are hitting your glasses, and the heat is way worse on your face. Gonna grab an isofit for it I guess haha. I also have a crystal 2, and I just prefer the viewing angles over the color for my work environment.

Do you find the inner protective lense has spaces 360 around it especially at the top middle? Considering i paid 1200 canadian for the panoramaxx papr version i am choked how they can charge 5$ for an inner lense and it doesnt even protect the screen on my 1200$ helmet. The inner lense should have a built in rubber gasket like the front protective lenses have or at least have a frame that snaps the inner protective lense in place. Even by the bottom of the nose piece there are so many gaps for dust to land on your screen. Ive had the helmet 4 to 5 months and i only noticed the inner protective lense is useless when i saw i had random welding dust specs all over what i thought was the protective lense. But no, to my surprise it was on the screen itself and i managed to remove about a dozen of them with the provided cloth without scratching my screen. I am shocked how shitty they designed that part of the helmet.

My major concern about the Optrel CLT hoods which has held me back from buying one,
is the Permanent non replaceable batteries that last only 300 to 500 cycles. They also Use a Micro USB to charge which are a notoriously flimsy connection, I'd expect USB C from an industrial product. There are a lot of people who have a dead helmet after 2 years, but even if it's 3 or 4 years with the last year charging your hood all the time because your battery barly holds a charge this is just a bad experience I know people that this exact situation happened to. after 3 years they ended up having to switch back to their 10 Year old Speedglas Bad experience for the welder.
When i went looking for pricing on a replacement ADF cartridge thats not even available as a spare part so you have to buy an entirely new hood WHEN the battery dies because it will die.
You might put big hours 8 hours a day under the hood good luck getting past 18 months.
Maybe you only weld 1 hour a day you better be paranoid about charging not just charging to top but waiting for it to get to a low state before using one of your "Charge Cycle"
Just Two terrible decesions that turn a definite buy into I think ill pass. Which is a pity because they do provide great vision, but reliability and keeping your hood operational are just as important.
What do you do if your batteries die midday, with a Speedglas or anyother hood you swap batteries.
If you have had this hood for 2 years and your now spending as much time charging as you are underthe hood welding no doubt using a backhood. What welder is going to want to pay a premium for that.

My panoramaxx xlt papr has 1/32 spaces all around the inner protective lense. This allows dust to enter their helmets and land on the screen. I thought maybe it was a defective inner lense so i replaced the old inner lenae for a new one and same thing. 5$ each and they dont even protect your most expensive lense on thr market. I am actually thinking of messaging optrel to complain. My first helmet arrived from canadian welsing supply with a micro crack at the nose piece. I was sent a replacement helmet and i can confirm both helmet inner protective lenses never sit firm and have gaps. The area top middle where they made a recess for your finger to grab at the inner lense has the biggest gap. Literally 1/32. If they were going to leave a large gap like that for dust to drop into they should have putbit on the bottom because gravity wont want to choot dust up into the bottom like ir does from the top. Could have added a gasket or something to clamp thr inner lense flat. Terrible design. Ive owned mine 5 months. Lense is amazing but im kinda choked my helmet will keep getting dust on thr lense because of defective inner protection lenses. Will probably resort to taping the seams somehow.

@@OlivierSuirei have the papr version of panoramaxx clt. I do get some fog on medium fan setting so i try to control my breathong better. I dont get the fog on max fan speed but i try not to use thwt setting or my battery dies in 7 hrs and i work 10 hr shifts with breaks. I decided to see if the helmet works with a respirator (pancake p100 filters) and to my surprise i can confirm it works with the helmet perfectly fine and no fog on thr lense at all. I actually think i am going to stick to the respirator now because i find the papr annoying to fab with. Definitely wish i just got the regular helmet. The only thing i hate about it is the inner protective lenses never fit firm and have no gasket or clip holding it in place. U basically fish two tiny tabs into slots on the left and right of the lense. Its dumb because it always bows 360 around the lense leaving gaps everywhere thwt dust can get into. Was very dissatisfied such an expensive helmet does a bad job protecting the lense. The outer lense protectors however do have built in rubber gaskets that come glued to it.

Hello!! Greetings from Spain and excuse me, the translation may not be correct because I use a translator. I have been a welder for 18 years and I am currently using a Lincoln viking and I am already thinking of changing it. After going crazy looking for information and opting to buy an optrel. I want the best. Since I don't understand English, I don't know the explanation you give in the video. I would appreciate it if you could tell me which one is better and which one would you buy, if the crystal 2.0 or the panoraxx clt? Thanks!!

Hey! Yes for sure, it is durable enough to work in an industrial environment. The e3000X is the best PAPR in our experience. If not that one check out the Miller T94i. (3M is okay but typically backordered and harder to get parts)

They are the same helmet/lens. The silver has that Crystal look but more importantly designed to not get as hot while welding.

I'll be brief. If You weld 9 hours on a 10 hour shift the soot will be as obvious as a scratch on black paint. If you weld 3 hours on a 10 hour work shit then you deserve a silver. It wont get dirty with small time welds. I recommend black for structural. 1 moist cloth swipe all around is all it takes to keep it looking new.

    • @CovertOverwatch666
      @CovertOverwatch666 3 роки тому +1

Plus! The temperature stays the same when fcaw, and smaw. Silver is nice but the cleanliness is much more easily maintained when using black

@@CovertOverwatch666 If you really care what it looks like, if it gets dirty it will be dirty the same amount regardless of the color but you will stay cooler with the silver. If you are welding in a hot environment the silver is the way to go, comfort over fashion.

I have exactly that issue! I was hoping i was the only one...
I just bought the panoramaxx clt a few days ago, there is a black stripe diagonal from right top to left down corner. It is very enoyoing! It is more enoying on a light shade than it is on a dark shade but it is still there, as well on auto as it is on manual setting. I just received another one just this morning, EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE!!! i dont think it's worth the €650,- it is a great helmet and for 300 one would perhaps be ok with this, but not for €650,- :(
