its a great quote, but i think you need to realize the social pressures they undergo in the country. Live there for a week or two it doesn't affect you, but stay there for a few months and you'll soon be looking in the mirror debating if you should.
@@oppa808 I know what you mean, and don't disagree with you in the least. The facial surgery thing has become the norm over there, and it's sad how shallow the social pressures can be, no matter what part of the world we're in... But I think we can all relate to this quote in different ways, not just as it relates to beauty. The underlying message of this quote is about finding a way to be secure with yourself, accepting yourself, and loving yourself the way you are, because other people don't live your life.
You try to sound wise, but that's not actually true. Countless people, perhaps a majority, come out of cosmetic surgery feeling more confident about themselves and improving their quality of life. Don't just listen to the scare stories and do your research on cosmetic surgery. For the most part, it goes well and improves people's perception of themselves. Also, cosmetic procedures are a spectrum all the way from teeth whitening to those stories of people trying to look like a Barrie doll or anime character through surgery. I imagine you'd probably draw a line of what is acceptable somewhere on the spectrum rather than black or white for or against cosmetic procedures.
+Sheldon Pooper 1 Sadly, it is true that people sometimes disregard the positive benefits of plastic surgery. We have to remember that South Korea is a completely different society and they may not hold the same stigmas towards cosmetic procedures. As they said in the video, many employers look at appearance and more often than not, they have to send in a headshot with their resume, so they have to be attractive in order to even function and be a part of society :/ I believe, that when they say, "If your desire is to be more beautiful, then you'll forever think that you're ugly" means that if you want to become beautiful, your idea of "beautiful" may not even be achievable in real life. Unfortunately, it is very common that people can become "knit-picky" about their appearance and be unhappy with the slightest flaw or sometimes it isn't even a flaw, just their normal features. There is also a possibility of people going overboard with plastic surgery. You can change your appearance hundreds of times, but you may never be satisfied if you don't have confidence in yourself and not give into pressure. I think that giving high schoolers plastic surgery as a gift from their parents for graduating may have negative consequences. They aren't even fully matured yet, so they may regret it in the future or their face may change as they become full grown adults.
I honestly feel so bad for the piano teacher, that sad, self-deprecating smile she gives to the camera while she says, "Everybody likes pretty girls", is absolutely heartbreaking. It kills me to think that this beautiful girl feels like she is below standard when she's perfectly fine.
I wish there wasn't any beauty standard at all. It is a cancerous concept that has brought misery to humanity. People need to look beyond outer appearances and learn to love people as they are.
FARIKA LINES Beauty standards only exist to peddle products. It's all one massive scam. You need to wear specific clothes to be fashionable. You're told you're ugly if you don't use makeup and shave. It goes on and on. Always ask who's profiting from all this. Hint: it's not you or your wallet, it's the companies that provide the things you're told you need.
Though America is no stranger to this level of superficiality, I feel this particular situation is infinitely more disturbing with these blatant prevailing gray areas allowing for dangerously half-assed work. It's shameful that these staff can look each other in the eye before each operation and pretend that they aren't playing with the lives of the desperately insecure for a living. Medical procedure is no game and it certainly shouldn't be endorsed as such. I don't understand how their government can be so complacent.
People do plastic surgery to change their appearances but remember children takes after their parents so i wonder if they think abt that or they just do it anyways
@Joselene Lu it is not fake news it is a sad reality, people lie to themselves saying that " everyone does it". The documentary just exposes the reality.
This is how I felt in Thailand. The women judge you on what you wear and look like. It was not obvious at first, but towards the end, you can see women staring at you up and down. It was hideous. Asia is so superficial.
Usually we don't exactly tell people to shoot up heroin and risk all their life and money for it. It seems that South Korea is trying to emphasize and encourage getting surgery and risk their life and money for it.
It seems like a cage for young people...seriously. The infatuation with beauty and 'idol looks' and being super dainty and feminine, which society is all responsible for, is insane. No wonder it has such a high suicide rate. I hope with the new generation they broaden their mindsets.
A good surgeon is always a tiny bit nervous about doing operations, even if he has done the same type of operation over thousand times with no problems. A good surgeon never promises the results will turn out perfect. A good surgeon never says it's safe, because he knows there's risks, and he should tell you. A good surgeon will ask you why do you want the surgery. If he thinks your having surgery for the wrong reasons, he will refuse to operate. A bad surgeon just wants your money. He will say anything to get you to have an operation. He might even try to talk you into having other procedures to be done. He will say the operation is safe. He will rush the operations, because he will have lots of other operations to do in one day. Always research the surgeon's medical background, and if he has malpractice lawsuits/done botched surgeries.
Yup so dodgy - the consent process is totally flippant and I was shocked that they don't have actual anaesthetists giving the general anaesthetic. It's so dangerous, brain damage for a prettier face.
Samantha Peters Normally, if you have a customer you have to respond to their needs. You can’t just say « no u don’t need the ps goodbye » that’s not how the world works. I’m pretty sure that someone that decides to have ps has already thought it through and made the best decision for them. The job of a surgeon is to do the surgery and listen to the customer to make money for his business, not to get them to give up on surgery. So technically you’re wrong. U don’t know the basics at all so don’t write nonsensical comments
No, people don't always think things through, haven't you heard in the video that even parent buy the surgeries to their kids that are maybe 16 years old. The doctor hasn't stated any risks (at least not in front of the camera) even after she kinda questioned anaesthetics, which is just plain wrong, at least where I live. You have to respond to customers, but if people do surgeries because well everyone does it would be healthier to ones psychology to decline sometimes. I am well aware that probably most surgeons don't do it, but saying that a person is stupid for having some hope in them... smh
Samantha Peters This is very true, I had a skype video consultation with Dr Anil Shah 4 years ago, who is one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the US and he said to me that he would not operate on me. He said that in strange way my nosehump makes my nose look shorter than what it is and I can see what he meant now. I showed a picture of Doutzen Kroes nose and tbh Im grown up in a scandinavian country so I always felt odd and ugly looking for having a droopy nosetip. He could have easily taken my money for a rhinoplasty since I really wanted to have a nosejob, but instead he refused and said that he doesn't see how he could improve my nose from the frontview and that there are tons of risks with rhinoplasty. I also emailed Vladimir Grigoryants who probably is the best surgeon after Jeffrey Rawnsley, and he emailed me back and said that my nose would be easy to fix. Thing is regardless of how good a surgeon is there are always nosejob cases where people end up with an overly pinched nose or botched nose. So for now a filler will do.
LifeSucks Well I think that you're the one wrong! A surgeon should decide whether or not he will operate his patient. He must be sure that the patient really understands the risks , that this is something he really wants, that he did not decide this After one Bad day.
Its hard when everything is based on image. Experiencing the abuse before, Im thankful i live in a more liberal society. When i visited Indonesia to visit fam, i ended up abusing laxatives because EVERYONE, literally everyone, would call me fat before they even said hi! Especially people i didnt know. I even got talked into doing injections. Thank goodness there hasnt been any issues (been 10 years). I faced it back home in the US when i integrated with the indo community. And i remember the discussions I participated in *unwillingly* and ones i overheard. Talking down people for wearing the same bags....suggesting bleaching skin....doing surgeries. Its vain and disgusting. The entire community that do this needs to be revived. The support for self love needs to increase!
misha I might be rude, but I'm saying this she went under the knife she should expect this, plus her problem is not that big, I barely noticed her eyes, humans are living with diseases, lost limbs, Burns, disabilities at least she should be thankful it didn't went as bad as causing her blindness or paralysis, I think going back to where she did her jaw to fix it will do good and she could live and accept her eyes, Koreans should get real these r nothing
Dana Bader I get where you're coming from but you should also consider the psychology behind her grief. She wanted to be "pretty", to fit in with the rest of society. The shame and isolement that people feel who lose limbs etc. is probs what she is feeling because of cultural standards. So please don't belittle her. There's a lot more behind it and it's sad that you can feel so isolated and ashamed because you don't look like the rest of society (either by losing a limb or not having the perfect eyes). I wish there was something that could change. But even if this distorted view was changed in society, people would probs still be left out for one reason or another. There still be shame and isolation due to the fact that we want to fit in so badly. And I feel like we will always be nurturing this feeling because this is in our nature.
Eunice Agyeiwaa yes the country's standards are high, but look at her !! she is already pretty who said she can't fit?, and I don't think her sadness is only because of the the culture, she obviously got obsessed with looking perfect, and you can't simply say that what she's feeling is the same as what disabled people are feeling, it's so different, their greatest issue is NOT not being able to fit in , but the change in their way of living like not being able to do things they could do or other people can do, and yes people will always want to fit in and feel the same so they won't be left all alone, but there will always be people who are different from the others which will leave them ashamed of themselves and sad, sadly we can't change how the world always worked so the only thing we can do is encourage them
Beauty is subjective... In Asia, especially Korea, having prominent cheekbones & jaws isn’t considered beautiful. They want smaller faces. Which is so different compared to Western beauty bc everyone admires Angelina Jolie for her strong facial structure. Lots of Koreans (not all) are known for having a prominent face shape which is probably why that feature isn’t desired since it’s more common for them.
Exercise, weight loss (or gain) does alter your bone structure. Obviously, it won't do anything dramatic, but, believe it or not, your bones (including your skull) adapt. Also, I think Americans and many western countries have a more open mind about what beauty is. We can find Angelina Jolie beautiful as well as Audrey Hepburn at the same time. We have people of all races and sizes around us and society is trying to get us to appreciate (and manipulate) from all directions.
Before, I was always been fascinated of how the koreans looked like. Doll like eyes pointed nose and cute face I thought that they really looked liked that because of their race but after knowing it's all because of plastic surgery I now don't get fascinated by their looks.
Definitely not! If you really want to know how Koreans look without plastic surgery just look at their siblings from the North, those are natural Koreans.
What non-Koreans don't understand is how competitive the Korean Society is. The Korean society is a society where you must compete for EVERYTHING. Yes, I know.. it's same in every society. But the Koreans take it to a new level.
Phillip kim it's the government's fault, the fact you have to include a photo with your documents is crazy like that's supposed to be AFTER u accept you
nellieejelly Are you Swiss too? Because I have no idea how much these photos actually matter. I mean I guess it also depends on the boss and if someone wants to be discriminative for example against foreigners it is very easy like that 😞
there's nothing wrong with having a picture. it gives the interviewer an impression of the candidate. Not all jobs and companies requires a KPOP idol lookalike however basic grooming is a must. I did the same thing when selecting staff for my company.
In most Asian countries and not only in East Asia, photos are required. Age is also asked during interviews because there is an age limit in Asian countries when applying for a job.
That poor girl with the 'botched" surgery. SHE STILL IS BEAUTIFUL! Oh how sad that she doesn't know it and that the expectations of society have left her with such damaged self-esteem! You're are so beautiful!!
I thought exactly the same she's still beautiful the damaged to her eye isn't even noticeable . Korean people have beautiful doll like features ie small they should be proud of their natural beauty . I didn't see one unattractive woman throughout .......
@@celticmist14 Ok, whats ur point? "And pepole do judge" ok and??? Everyone judges everyone, its in our human nature. Thats why we teach children to not pay attention to what others say about them so they dont get mentally destroyed
Yes the world judges on many things, looks being only the one, and sometimes it can determine the outcome for one's life in terms of employment and relationship opportunities. Say if you had a physical deformity wouldn't you wish to correct it too. You f you tell somebody that they're looks in this world won't matter you will be lying to them. Human beings can be so horrible. And names and name calling can be detrimental so..to one's esteem.
True, i mean i respect every idol that have been under surgery bcs the pressure they got and the insecurities but some idol doing endless surgery got my nerve like why would they change their face again and again, some of them already pretty and handsome but just bcs of aging they make their jaw and chin smaller which in my opinion make them more older. It's really unfortunate
This girl wants her cheekbones shaved down and I work in a clinic where people pay thousands for cheek filler! Grass always seems greener on the other side. Sad documentary.
Fuckeryfairy: Well stated & so, sadly,TRUE! It's akin to abusing drugs, imo, in that, whatever drives a person to FIRST seriously take that road, one that seemingly holds so much fun & promises of more enjoyment of life, AND escapism, fades as as the initial thrill is so soon GONE, & from then on, JUST out of reach. Consequently, inevitably, one ends up feeling more dissatisfied, unhappy, damaged, & emptier, than EVER, SIGH.
@@etang88888 STOP, E.T., she's beautiful, as IS! PLEASE don't encourage this needless, artificial, elective MUTILATION, young dude*! I feel so sad for that woman, she doesn’t see how pretty she is. Honestly when she was saying how they were uneven and how she couldn’t close her eye anymore, I literally couldn’t see what she was talking about.
she is also able to blink , dry eye ? she can use ointments when she sleeps . she claims her life is ruined, really !! was she planning on being miss universe ? such BS .sounds like she has other psychiatric issues and facial surgery is just an excuse.
I think you guys are forgetting the fact that she has to work of all the debt she has now for the surgeries that didn't even work out. We can say that she doesn't look bad at all and that she is beautiful which I agree with but according to Korean standards she may not. Also if the surgeries were successful and she did believe she became beautiful she would've had a better chance of getting a higher paying job. Korea runs on looks, there are people who are rejected from jobs because they were not attractive enough for their standards. From what she was talking about it may have seem like she was being over dramatic, but think about how she invested so much money into something that didn't happen, and she has to be reminded of it everyday when she looks in the mirror. I think the biggest thing that she is dealing with is regret and how she was lied to by society.
This is what happens when a society values the outer appearance more than the inner. Body dysmorphia is an actual psychiatric disorder: it is the inability to objectively judge one's appearance and feel always something is lacking and in need of improvement. This leads to excessive plastic surgery, depression, anorexia and other disorders. I think that this body dysmorphia has now reached a new level in Korean society. I recently saw a female news anchor on a prominent Korean news outlet - she was an excellent announcer - who clearly had her jaw shaved down to create a pointier chin, had her eyes and nose done, and had her skin bleached/used whitening products. She didn't look Korean at all. She looked spectral and unnatural. It then struck me that she looked like something out of a manga comic book. Totally plastic. What a waste of talent just to look good. And yet that woman felt compelled to make all these changes to her face, to succeed in a man's world. So unfair and needs to change.
How true that is. But when you follow your own path and confidence comes from within, people see the beauty shining through naturally. With age, this idea becomes easier to accept because aging is inevitable. We can't escape it.
Yell Sayson bruh maybe western society shoves the whole “be yourself!” narrative down our throats, but South Korea *definitely* doesn’t. I mean if you watched the video at one point they literally described Korean society and mentality as wanting to follow what other people are doing.
You can train your muscles, eye muscles to correct this. Look at the asian doctor who shows facial exercises for bells palsy. I did these exercises often for two weeks. My face returned to perfect order and symmetry.
@@AngelWingzzz I think the problem may be that the surgeon cut too much of the eyelid and now it is not physically big enough to cover her entire eye when closed. Basically, she may need revision surgery, which would be costly and probably painful, if this is the case.
I didnt even know what she was sad about before she explained it and even afterwards I didnt see it though the part about not being able to close your eyes must be pretty bad to live with
Anesthesia is a serious subject and to properly inform the patient who's never had any anesthesia registered is very important. The doctor talks like it's cup of coffee that she'll be having. These are not doctors, they are behaving like mechanics with absolutely no empathy for the patients.
I was rather concerned about the doctor's very casual manner. He didn't even make eye contact half the time, like Ahn wasn't worth his time. I gave him the benefit of a doubt that it may have been a cultural thing. But, seems like that is how the Grand viewed her, considering they didn't take the time to inform her of her options.
His attitude was very similar to that of doctors I have had consultations with who I was seeing for physical health conditions not cosmetic surgery. The lack of empathy & understanding from doctors affects many patients. I live in the UK & get free healthcare on the NHS & they are billions of pounds in debt so make a lot of decisions based on money, usually giving the cheapest option or telling you to wait & see if the symptom resolves on its own. However if someone is compassionate & kind it does make a huge difference. I know many doctors are uninterested individuals problems & pass off life changing symptoms as nothing. Often when there is something that can be don't to greatly reduce an individual's suffering. Honestly I have often felt that no doctor or professor cares about the quality of my life. Many young people & women get dismissed as being weak when they present with symptoms, it takes years longer for females to receive a diagnosis here than men. My late Grandma missed a step & fell down the stairs, the next day she went to the doctor & he said "women feel more pain" take some paracetamol. A week later she went back saying the extream pain was not getting any better & could she get a scan or something to see if it was broken, the Dr replied it could not be broken because she was able to walk (more acuratly limp) on it. A week after that & she saw her routine diabetic nurse whom she mentioned her painfil leg too, she actually examined it & asked the GP to refer her quickly for an x-ray. As soon as they scanned her leg they could see her home was completely snapped in half! My Grandma was just incredible brave. TL;DR A lot of Doctors & Professors who deal with non cosmetic problems are often uncaring dicks too.
snlb yup agree. If you don’t like your make up, you can wipe it off n restart but if a surgery goes wrong, it’s hard to reverse the effects. it’s prolly as natural as putting on make up in Korea but except you can’t redo it
My father, a South Korean, always told us to look pretty, go become a model, get braces and make sure we don't have acne but oh boy My sister has greasy hair and acne all over her forehead, and she told me that nobody really cares about your appearance and she didn't either. As long as it didn't interfere with her personal life, she can look however she wants. I stopped caring about how dark my skin looks, how big my eyes are and other parts of me I felt ashamed of. I think your face is really what makes you you and you should respect it. I don't think you should change the way you look because even though you think you're ugly or other people tell you that you're ugly, there's definitely something beautiful about your appearance one way or another. You just need time to accept that you are gorgeous in your own way. I know everyone throws this phrase around but I'm serious. Of course... this is just an opinion, not a fact, but I think it's very important that you remind yourself that there's only one face like yours in the world.
Actually, that's not the problem. The problem is society's inability to link all these things together to understand how constantly judging people for how they look and shaming people is hugely detrimental to their society as a whole. Also, Koreans refuse to openly discuss depression, mental illness (they have one of the highest rates of non-treated bipolar disorder because of the social shame attached to mental illness), or suicide. Youth suicide is one of the highest in the world, due to an overly competitive society, rigid attitudes about what it means to be successful, Korean pride and inability to talk openly for fear of "losing face". All these elements are contributing to the inability of Korean society to deal in a more open and positive way with these issues. Korea has a very good medical system, and there are psychiatrists and counselors out there, there is treatment, but you can be ostracized and shamed by your company if they find out you are going for treatment, even for marriage counseling. So it's the social/judgmental attitudes that are the problem here.
Or whoever is involved in influences and media ( the ppl who control them), those are the ones who need it. I can only imagine what it's like being teens out there... 😔. That seems like a way more vulnerable time of being that much more concerned about looks
What's so sad is that no matter how much plastic surgery you have if you don't love yourself you will never be happy. Surgery doesn't automatically grant you self esteem. It comes from the inside!
If you are bullied for your appearance then it can help your self esteem. Bullying can affect a person for their whole life. Appearance matters more than people think. If someone looks different or is below average then their life will be difficult. Since most people are average, people think that unattractive means not putting enough effort. That's not true for everyone. If you look up other Korea plastic surgery videos you can see some people who had deformations that were fixed with surgery. Ones that affect the jaw can affect speech and eating, and also cause chronic pain.
i haven't gotten plastic surgery yet (i am thinking about a nose job though) but there's a difference in my self esteem when i am wearing makeup vs when im not. i feel like if there's something you're really insecure about, if you can hide it, you will automatically feel better about yourself
Its so sad they think they should look at specific standard. Koreans should know that you can be pretty without that v shape face,or doing a double eyelid surgery.
I am S. Korean and I am saddened to see these plastic surgeons use their patients insecurities against them just so they can line their pockets with more money. The surgeries aren't magic wands that instantly transforms their self esteem. Those feelings still exist and can't be cut off.
I feel bad for the lady at 20:12, she genuinely seems so broken, she doesn't even look bad though. Such a shame that she's been brainwashed to think that she can't achieve her dreams and aspirations because of the way she looks.
i thought i feel bad about having my face but then i saw this. that one person is right. i think it was the psychologist . he said what we wanted is to compete with others. we are comparing ourselves with other people, when what we need to do is to love what we actually have. both ladies, an (piano teacher) and the lady who can't close her eyes, are both pretty to begin with
Yes, of course! But I doubt she does -- it's why she wanted the surgery. She wanted the perfect eyes, cheeks, and jawline. Balance is clearly very important to her, in order to achieve this perfection ("...if we try to break that balance, that's when we become ugly"). Now she thinks her eyes are uneven (something I can't see), with sagging on one side of the face and a hint of a double chin. Just saying that I *can* see the slightly droopier cheek. So yeah... please don't get me wrong -- am not validating unrealistic beauty standards! I think we need to consider that, to her, it's also relative to what she looked like before -- she claims that her face was more balanced before. Hence why she's gutted.
Dolores Dean I think she really might have psychological issues. Not saying that her surgery wasn't botched, but taking out that much money in credit card debt to buy plastic surgery isn't typical behavior.
Something they got a bit wrong is that almost all girls get $ from parents to perform the surgery as a high school graduation gift. There are very few exceptions to this. There is a lot of pressure to do these surgeries from the society, including job opportunities that become a lot more likely for girls that have a certain look. The surgery for men is becoming a lot more common too, with many men feeling obligated to look certain way. Korea has a really twisted society that shames people into certain looks and even though there is a lot of pressure from the new generation that the change is needed, clinics like the ones in the report make it practically impossible as the money flow buys the government votes which silences the critics. Fun fact: My dog's vet downstairs here in Seoul has had at least 4 surgeries and I often pity the guy for feeling so insecure, even though his career and personal life are generally good.

+saurabh chaudhari All cultures have their own beauty standards and aesthetics, it's just Koreans are very strict with their wether or not their job is in an industry where a pretty face is required.
+alif akbar But most drug dealers actually *do* use drugs...that's a bad comparison. Drug dealers didn't go through years and years of medical school to learn the risks of drugs and surgery.
Soon everyone will be pretty, looking like models, and it's not pretty anymore, It will be considered the norm, those who are ugly will stand out and be unique and that will be THE BEAUTIFUL
But their kids will possess the same features their parents did...then if the parents were considered to be ugly then the child will also turn out"ugly". the cycle will keep repeating itself
Everyone tells me I'm fat and ugly but when I talk about cosmetic procedures that would make me feel happier and prettier, everyone lies straight to my face saying "Noooo you'rr beautiful" so I learned to not listen to other people, just myself
not a good idea to tell people what to keep. are pople telling white girls to not diet when they start at age 12 and only stop around the age of 45 when menopause kicks in ? white women are not naturally thin . there is a variety of sizes for a reason. they flat iron their hair for 30 years straight non stop , we know many have curly hair.
Raoh Shiro In South Korea, when you send your resume to employers, you must send it along with a headshot of yourself so they can judge you on whether you are an ideal candidate to hire. I believe South Korea is the only country in the world that demands this.
Adrienne D. I tough that this was the norm. until a few years it was also a necessity in Germany. now you *can* send a headshot since it increases your chances for the job.
As someone with surgery experiences, I can say even if you get anesthesia, your body remembers the surgery. After my surgery I had nightmares for weeks. I didn't have cosmetic surgery btw, I had a tibia plateau break and they reconstructed it. I felt ok before the surgery, exited and a bit nervous, because it was my first one, but not bad. But afterwards I dreamed about how the knife opened my leg and I couldn't do anything about it. So the body itself has memory, the more you harm it, the more it will let you know it, through nightmares, depression and anxieties.
Interesting because as someone who had breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty, I didn’t experience that. I never had nightmares or any regrets.I don’t have any trauma related to my cosmetic surgeries. I’d do my procedures all over again because I believe they improved my life
one of the worst things about this to me is how everyone is aiming towards the same look. personally, i wouldn’t want to look so similar to so many people.
trout picture because its the beauty standard, everybody around me are starting to have the same body type here in the states, mostly done with injections

I think it's scary to let teens make surgery decisions :/ when I was a teenager I hated so many things about myself and if I had had the money and opportunity I would have probably wanted to go under the knife. Now in my early 20s I've learned to embrace my round face, slightly bumpy nose and uneven jaw. It's okay not to be "perfect" but I didn't feel that way just a few years ago.
exactly..as a 25 year old i have learned to love my imperfections. if i would have been able to change myself as a teen things would have gone bad and out of control.
Sade Metsävirta exactly the same! I was so insecure in my teens and I just hated everything about my face and body. My parents never let me do anything and we didn't have the money anyways. Ironically, now that I have the money and that I can decide for myself I'm glad I don't want to change anymore. Not to mention my beauty ideals changed a LOT and I would have regretted my previous decisions. Trend change, but so does personal taste.
I'd like to add that the self hate was because of kpop. I thought the idols were so pretty and I felt inadequate. ironically again, as an adult I now feel like they all look the same because of surgery and I don't even listen to kpop anymore... Imagine when you decide to change yourself because of a phase. It's guaranteed regret!
I tell myself the same thing. I couldn't care less about what others think of me. However, in reality, I think it's impossible to really not care. Our whole lives revolve around other people and their thoughts.
@@K1ngq4t You're right. In Korea you need to attach a photo with your resume and the job market is so competitive (because everyone is educated) that looks can come to the final decision.
It actually helps a whole lot. Sorry to burst your bubble. I've known women who've done it and the reason it gets addicting is because people treat you extremely differently. Same reason people lose weight and men work out.
Says the girl with tonnes of makeup on. XD Like, i dont get you people. I dont agree with the surgery, but lets be honest for fk sakes. If she has a psychological problem for wanting to be pretty, so do you and me and everyone who wants to look attractive.
Your skin isn't paper DON'T CUT IT Your face isn't a mask DON'T COVER IT Your size isn't a book DONT' JUDGE IT Your life isn't a film SO DON'T END IT ❤❤YOUR beautiful❤❤
Elena Kirova everyone has insecurities and these insecurities will pop up at every stage of life from childhood through adulthood. But there is such a thing as self-confidence. You can boost it by shutting down the negative voices in your head and switching to positive affirmation. You focus on positive thoughts, stop comparing yourself to others (waste of time), take control of your life. Do sports/physical activities that you like, eat right, explore yourself and set realistic expectations. Forget about perfection, focus on your achievements. Surround yourself with supportive/positive people. If you don't feel comfortable in your own skin, if you believe your worth is determined by the size of your cheeks, the shape of your eyes or the lenght of your nose, if you're constantly seeking validation through other people's eyes.... basically if it's only about looks and other people's opinions while you're empty inside, physical enhancement will only cover up your issues not fix them.
Everyone has one or two things they don't like about themselves. But, they also have other part that they do like. Focussed on the one that makes you feels pretty and happy instead. Even if you hate your whole face or body, get a hobby or work on other skills; it'll make you more confident and maybe even bring peace with yourself eventually.
beauty will fade anyway with age a pretty face wont make you less insecure if your selfesteem is based on your looks u will never love yourself no matter how goodlooking u are
That girl who couldn't close one of her eyes completely looked completely normal and quite pretty. I couldn't believe she said she "lost her dreams and hopes because of this experience". I get that she was feeling sad but even at the end of the video you see a girl that had her brain damaged because of a failed surgery. Sometimes people should see their problems for what they actually are and try not to overdramatize the situation they're currently in.
This sentence is a big fat lie!!! I was always the center of envie even if I am pretty average as a person and the evil stares of other women made me always uncomfortable. I’m not lying: (
@@JaiFlame There is nothing in the comments that suggest a lack of compassion, it is stating a fact, and the situation does present itself as such that these people should seek help.
@@yeonjundani They should, but calling them empty is too much. They may lack perspective but I feel that calling them empty is like telling them they are an empty shell rather than people with good and bad points. People who had needed care bc clearly they have some sort of disphoria or pressure they cannot handle. For most in bad cases its done, they know their mistakes, lets not judge them on top of that.
@@JaiFlame Saying empty is not putting judgment on them but rather describing the state of their condition or mentality. It does not mean they are irredeemable or is a flaw in their character. It simply reflects the insecurities some have which can be fulfilled by other means.
As corny as it sounds they need to appreciate and embrace uniqueness because many of them turn out looking alike with similar features after the surgeries. 🤦♂️
The girl, Ahn Min Yung, who who went for a cheekbone reduction surgery was much naturally pretty enough. Just look at how lovely her smile was during interview. If the society goes by appearance only, there's a problem. Perhaps I don't understand bc I ain't a girl.
You only feed society's obsession with superficial beauty further. Ultimately, it shouldn't matter how somebody looks like.. Hence it is not helpful, but unnecessary and counter-productive to compliment someone's appearance prior to plastic surgery.
Pretty interesting that most of the doctors look pretty natural in comparison. Maybe they see the flaws of their society better than the general population.
+Liuhuayue Doctors recognise there are many risks to plastic surgery. Also, most doctors are men and are already high achievers in society (i.e. medical students are guaranteed a job in Korea, interviews are just formalities). No reason for them to do plastic surgery.
the girl who feel like she is disable woman just because her eyes surgery failed, have to realise that she is beautiful, i dont even know about her double chin or about one of her eyelids cannot be closed if she didn't mention it.. she just look normal for me
She shaved off her jaw bone and the excessive fats on her face got nowhere to go... She can simply tone up her body and do more exercises instead of sulking all day, the double chin baby fats will all be gone. Her shrink even told her that it's psychological. I see her blink fine... Just a snowflake
actually you can see the concavity in her mouth where she claims it wasn't stitched up properly. if it's just invaginated mucosa then it's an easy fix and all the surgeons i know would do it for free if they saw that in their post op. the blepharoplasty you can notice a small gap when she tries to close her left eye. if you don't leave enough tissue that can happen when the scar contracts after the initial healing period. that absolutely needs to be revised as you can damage the globe of your eye. i don't know what the story is with her post op and follow up but these things happen and these things can be managed appropriate to the standards of care. i won't comment on the chin as i see nothing wrong with it.
ken bibi she said she couldn’t close one of her eyes, not about blinking. It is a problem when a person is trying to sleep. If you take a look at it again when she tries to close both eyes, you may see the gap on the right. It was the plastic surgeon who denied responsibility and pushed the blame to her, saying it’s her psychology that’s the issue. It’s hurtful to call her a snowflake :(
@@kenbibi7631 It wasn't her shrink. The doctor who performed the surgery told her to see a psychologist for her eye because he doesn't want to admit to wrongdoing. It's likely that during the hack job they did on her, they damaged the muscle or nerve, which is why she can't close the lid completely for longer periods of time.
RIGHT about SCARFACE MOVIE. Why would a knowledgeable plastic surgeon do it. Obviously they know how bad the after effect will be. If someone tells you are ugly tell them the worst thing about them. Fight for yourself you are beautiful !
I was born and raised in Korea and people are judged harshly on their appearance. I have a darker skin than most Koreans, longer face, and full lips and boy, was I called horse faced when growing up! Now they all want the longer face. The piano teacher wants the surgery because her face is considered ‘wide’ so that’s why. It’s insane.
true. even japanese they're so judgmental to physical looks...they're going to do anything for a pretty girl and handsome boy but if you're ugly you won't even land some jobs.
The doctor who was operating seemed so disconnected. It was scary, his attitude, like he didn't care much for his patients. But that could be just how he was. It gave me bad vibes none the less.
I thought the same, he didn't even look at the girl in the eye. It seemed like he just wanted to finish the conversation asap. There's no way I'd trust such a rude doctor.
Sounds like the doctors in ISEC (international specialist eye centre) here in Malaysia. They just keep typing away on their computer whilst talking to you. And gets mad if you ask the same question a second time.
the last comment though, " when we are born, I think our eyes nose and lips are already balanced. And I think if we try to break that balance, that's when we become ugly ". moment to reflect ...
I will say something extremely dumb and insensitive here, but the ladies going under the knife look all pretty beautiful to me. It is a pity they feel compelled to get a procedure done to them.
I don't think your comment is dumb. If anything, no offense to any certain people, but I appreciate natural beauty over tempered beauty. I live in a country where there are plenty of Korean and their culture is highly regarded in this society, and many people ask me if I see Korean girls attractive or do I think their ladies are beautiful, and I always have this pre-assumption and stereotype if they are then they must have undergone plastic surgery and not the real them, and by that alone I've already lost interest. Can't help it. Again no offense to anyone, it's just my personal opinion.
To the girl that she think her eyes are not similar , I wanna say that your face to me and 99/99% of people is completely normal and also really really beautiful don't judge yourself. The doctor had probably messed up whith some nerves that you can't close your eyes completely but your face beauty is more than normal. Just keep going through what happened. You are beautiful to anyone's standard.
The woman that wants to reduce her cheeckbones should seriously reconsider her decision. Having cheeckbones is a beautifull bonestructure. It is a shame she doenst see her natural beauty.
the devils games ...all so people would do things that show they are ungrateful the way God made them ..medical reasons is ok but not because of what they fancy ...
imraan julius I have a deviated septum. Broke my nose 2 times. My sinus doc tells me I could get insurance to do the surgery because I can barely breath in or out of my right nostril. So I did some research, in a tristate area meaning I could travel to 3 different states. So many reviews of failed nose surgeries for deviated septum. One after another. There are only 2 doctors I trust to do the surgical procedure. They are in California. Which would be to much to fly stay and have the surgery. I like my nose it needs no change. I just need to breath right. Seems like the doctors even when told I just want to breath no changes the take to much out and they don’t support what they take out and their noses concave or become severely impaired and un- able to breath. So I’ll stick to not having the surgery. There isn’t a doctor I trust at all in my surrounding areas. No way!
In my country it's absolutely acceptable to be Imperfect and bad looking too. No one has judged me or any other person I guess just by looking them. When it comes to job, the most beautiful things to watch are skills and qualifications. Thank God 🙏
It's becoming a society where they all look identical. There's no distinguishing characteristics, nothing that makes them unique anymore. They're all becoming clones....the same nose, the same v shaped face, the same eyes and lips. Natural is beautiful, but more so, who you are on the inside is vastly more important than being "beautiful." I'd love to see a day where a man or woman can look into the mirror and say, "I just love myself. I'm perfect the way I am."
Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "Number 12 Looks Just Like You" where everyone gets to choose a plastic surgery makeover from a catalog on their 18th birthday. Basically, nobody is considered beautiful unless they've had a complete physical transformation, but everyone ends up becoming clones of each other. It's a sad episode (then again, most TZ episodes are) and eerily similar to the current obsession with beauty.
On the other side, many men aren’t willing to marry women who don’t look that well, which severely impacts the already declining birth rates. I’m sure looks don’t determine everything, but with the advent of the internet and female models becoming more and more popular, who would go out of their way for what seems to be an average person? Im not saying that it’s right, but I’m just stating that certain traits are more desirable due to evolution giving us set preferences.
This indeed is very sad, seeing beautiful people with beautiful features feeling like they need to be molded into the same cast in order to look up to the "standard". What is the standard anyways?! Who decides this? Why try to make everyone look the same? They are beautiful the way they are.
A famous quote: "If you live for others acceptance, you'll die from their rejection."
Angela Reuss Very good quote
love this.
its a great quote, but i think you need to realize the social pressures they undergo in the country. Live there for a week or two it doesn't affect you, but stay there for a few months and you'll soon be looking in the mirror debating if you should.
kiM_bAb I am from New Zealand I think that these people a beautiful the way they are , But I know what human nature is too , thankyou for your reply 😀
If your desire is to be more beautiful, then you'll forever think that you're ugly.
Werr spoken, rike a trrrrrrue ashan.
Benedict L Nah, I'm not Asian. I'm 1hunnid% black like Rachel Dolezal.
Jinarchy Werr spoken, rike a trrrueee brack perrrson.
As they said in the video, many employers look at appearance and more often than not, they have to send in a headshot with their resume, so they have to be attractive in order to even function and be a part of society :/
I believe, that when they say, "If your desire is to be more beautiful, then you'll forever think that you're ugly" means that if you want to become beautiful, your idea of "beautiful" may not even be achievable in real life.
Arjeta Kolar I'm finna cry
I wish there wasn't any beauty standard at all. It is a cancerous concept that has brought misery to humanity. People need to look beyond outer appearances and learn to love people as they are.
FARIKA LINES Beauty standards only exist to peddle products. It's all one massive scam. You need to wear specific clothes to be fashionable. You're told you're ugly if you don't use makeup and shave. It goes on and on. Always ask who's profiting from all this. Hint: it's not you or your wallet, it's the companies that provide the things you're told you need.

It's sad that one of the main themes of this video is, "Everyone does it now, so it must be safe and I should do it".
Earthling1984 The everyone is doing it is the biggest argument out there.
Very superficial Society
Though America is no stranger to this level of superficiality, I feel this particular situation is infinitely more disturbing with these blatant prevailing gray areas allowing for dangerously half-assed work. It's shameful that these staff can look each other in the eye before each operation and pretend that they aren't playing with the lives of the desperately insecure for a living. Medical procedure is no game and it certainly shouldn't be endorsed as such. I don't understand how their government can be so complacent.
MONEY !
Earthling1984 That's the theme, but I think the video is trying to show that is actually NOT something that should be taken lightly.
Here's the thing, that girl who had a botched surgery? I still find her pretty. She's still pretty. I hope she sees this.

Imagine being always judged for your looks 🤮
This is how I felt in Thailand. The women judge you on what you wear and look like. It was not obvious at first, but towards the end, you can see women staring at you up and down. It was hideous. Asia is so superficial.
Usually we don't exactly tell people to shoot up heroin and risk all their life and money for it. It seems that South Korea is trying to emphasize and encourage getting surgery and risk their life and money for it.
Exposing Liars Not whole Asia just south East Asia...

The uneven eye girl that said she "didn't want more money, I wanted to be pretty" oh I want to hug her
T J she's so cute
misha I might be rude, but I'm saying this she went under the knife she should expect this, plus her problem is not that big, I barely noticed her eyes, humans are living with diseases, lost limbs, Burns, disabilities at least she should be thankful it didn't went as bad as causing her blindness or paralysis, I think going back to where she did her jaw to fix it will do good and she could live and accept her eyes, Koreans should get real these r nothing
Then go ahead and hug her LOL
Eunice Agyeiwaa yes the country's standards are high, but look at her !! she is already pretty who said she can't fit?, and I don't think her sadness is only because of the the culture, she obviously got obsessed with looking perfect, and you can't simply say that what she's feeling is the same as what disabled people are feeling, it's so different, their greatest issue is NOT not being able to fit in , but the change in their way of living like not being able to do things they could do or other people can do, and yes people will always want to fit in and feel the same so they won't be left all alone, but there will always be people who are different from the others which will leave them ashamed of themselves and sad, sadly we can't change how the world always worked so the only thing we can do is encourage them
Was anybody else totally grossed out by the sounds of the surgical tools hitting flesh at the beginning?

Cheekbone reduction surgery!? Most people would kill to have prominent cheekbones. Her face is so perfect already aaaaaaugh. D:
u cant cut down bone with exercising u egg. Some ppl will always have a round face no matter how much exercise they do
animal kindness Don't hate on women. We're only doing what men want, because it's our fate.
I know. She’s soooo pretty. I can’t believe she wants to change anything.
"Let's be honest, everyone likes pretty girls." It hurts me a lot to say this but it's true and it's sad :(

@thatasiangirl 0_0 there's difference in liking a person and a pretty face you fool
Before, I was always been fascinated of how the koreans looked like. Doll like eyes pointed nose and cute face I thought that they really looked liked that because of their race but after knowing it's all because of plastic surgery I now don't get fascinated by their looks.
Most of the ones who got plastic surgery only do hair and skin care, nearly 70%.
Phillip kim it's the government's fault, the fact you have to include a photo with your documents is crazy like that's supposed to be AFTER u accept you

there's nothing wrong with having a picture. it gives the interviewer an impression of the candidate. Not all jobs and companies requires a KPOP idol lookalike however basic grooming is a must. I did the same thing when selecting staff for my company.
Too much social pressure on appearance.
Calvin Wong yea. even when going on a job interview needs to be beautiful. what's wrong with their society?
Calvin Wong they are also required to provide a photo ID with their resumes.
In most Asian countries and not only in East Asia, photos are required. Age is also asked during interviews because there is an age limit in Asian countries when applying for a job.
I think every country has that issue. The standards of beauty tend to be so narrow. In North America it's being no larger than a size 2!!
Calvin Wong I know right. the korean beauty standard is tough! also, the woman in the video is already pretty!

Yup she is still pretty. But maybe because she doesnt get what she wants, so her self esteemn is down.
Many people would love to look as "bad" as her!
The woman who is getting her cheekbones shaved down is beautiful. Her full cheeks are part of what adds to her physical beauty. Very sad. :-/

Everyone judges everyone, its in our human nature. Thats why we teach children to not pay attention to what others say about them so they dont get mentally destroyed

determine the outcome for one's life in terms of employment and relationship opportunities. Say if you had a physical
deformity wouldn't you wish to correct it too.

Is it so bad there ? Europe has it also but it looks that there is much more pressure to be "beautiful"
This girl wants her cheekbones shaved down and I work in a clinic where people pay thousands for cheek filler! Grass always seems greener on the other side. Sad documentary.
it's just another world with another surgery.
Her cheekbones are fine, that's right, but what she really needs is jaw line slime down to look more like those K pop stars
@@etang88888 STOP, E.T., she's beautiful, as IS! PLEASE don't encourage this needless, artificial, elective MUTILATION, young dude*! Look how many of those naturally beautiful, yet, overwhelming, seriously, surgically altered, successful, young K-pop stars & actors commit suicide, nonetheless‼️😢 *Edit*~PS: I can't see so well ( old, tired, lol) & your pic is very small on my phone, & all I could see was a sweet, smiling face with a cute, hip, short hairstyle, so if you're a "chick," sorry, baby, no offense intended, you're beautiful, either way! ☺️👍
What a magical fillers cost thousands?!
So unfair and needs to change.
not being able to close her eyes is a medical issue not a cosmetic issue. she needs treatment so she can sleep fine.
YOu could tell when you can't close your eye. It would be irritating when you're trying to nap or something if a little bit of light can get in
Society: Be yourself
Society: Hmm not like that.
Lol... so, true. Your damed if you do and feel damed if you don't.. sad really.
Yep...so forget society:)
How true that is.
But when you follow your own path and confidence comes from within, people see the beauty shining through naturally. With age, this idea becomes easier to accept because aging is inevitable. We can't escape it.
Don't think Korean society tells you to be yourself.
Yell Sayson bruh maybe western society shoves the whole “be yourself!” narrative down our throats, but South Korea *definitely* doesn’t. I mean if you watched the video at one point they literally described Korean society and mentality as wanting to follow what other people are doing.
The lady with the botched surgery...I would never notice. You look lovely, please take care and get on with your life.
Hey! How are you?
You can train your muscles, eye muscles to correct this. Look at the asian doctor who shows facial exercises for bells palsy. I did these exercises often for two weeks. My face returned to perfect order and symmetry.
@@AngelWingzzz I think the problem may be that the surgeon cut too much of the eyelid and now it is not physically big enough to cover her entire eye when closed. Basically, she may need revision surgery, which would be costly and probably painful, if this is the case.
She looks lovely.
I didnt even know what she was sad about before she explained it and even afterwards I didnt see it though the part about not being able to close your eyes must be pretty bad to live with
The Korean beauty standard is crazy. Women's pics in ads., they look the same. Same face line and same facial feature. Gosh! so creepy!

My thoughts exactly
You

the paychecks.
@cahillerin,yobazların ve kaşarların korkulu rüyası I noticed that as well!
Seoul should be named the Land of Insecurities.
More like South Korea as a whole

It's also one of the most judgmental societies on Earth. It should also be called Fantastic Plastic Machine.
That one guy that said it's like makeup... not at all. Surgery is permanent and you can't undo it if you don't like your results
+sheneverlookedback he meant that in South-Korea so many people do it that it's almost as normal as makeup.
snlb yup agree. If you don’t like your make up, you can wipe it off n restart but if a surgery goes wrong, it’s hard to reverse the effects. it’s prolly as natural as putting on make up in Korea but except you can’t redo it
My father, a South Korean, always told us to look pretty, go become a model, get braces and make sure we don't have acne but oh boy
My sister has greasy hair and acne all over her forehead, and she told me that nobody really cares about your appearance and she didn't either.
Oh boy I'm preachy today :D juuuust preachy
BlueSword too true, it is sad how much people hate how they look for looking normal, then they are loved for looking fake.

Koreans need to invest in Psychologists and mental health institutions. Sad documentary
Hector Lalalala this is true... mental health is one of the most taboo and not-talked about things over there
Actually, that's not the problem.
Stfu
Very true. Only 2 per cent of the budget used for health is used for mental health facilities and other mental health related things. That's crazy...
Or whoever is involved in influences and media ( the ppl who control them), those are the ones who need it. I can only imagine what it's like being teens out there... 😔. That seems like a way more vulnerable time of being that much more concerned about looks

@@Risperanto no there was nothing wrong. The doc said correctly that she need psychological help.
What's so sad is that no matter how much plastic surgery you have if you don't love yourself you will never be happy. Surgery doesn't automatically grant you self esteem. It comes from the inside!
exactly.
Karen Dowling this win!

And it is indeed.
True. Specially judge by appearence.....and it makes people depress about themselves. That's too sad to me but it's the real truth in korea
Yep it is.
All societies are.
Beauty is distinctive, if everyone looks identical it will lose it’s meaning.
I totally agree
Double eye lid surgery is nothing but for looks like more American
Its so sad they think they should look at specific standard. Koreans should know that you can be pretty without that v shape face,or doing a double eyelid surgery.
I don't think double eyelid surgery even looks good on people
Beauty is objective, maybe it could become distinctive in our far future, if everyone would look the same.
I am S. Korean and I am saddened to see these plastic surgeons use their patients insecurities against them just so they can line their pockets with more money. The surgeries aren't magic wands that instantly transforms their self esteem. Those feelings still exist and can't be cut off.
Alex Jensen You meant korean? right? i mean north and south are genetically the same.

Indeed it is social engineering brainwashed
The piano teacher is already beautiful. It's so sad that society is telling her that she's somehow not. 😔
I feel bad for the lady at 20:12, she genuinely seems so broken, she doesn't even look bad though. Such a shame that she's been brainwashed to think that she can't achieve her dreams and aspirations because of the way she looks.
IamBob right ~ that was so heartbreaking and painful to watch..I feel so bad for her
What if she was an actress?
i thought i feel bad about having my face but then i saw this. that one person is right. i think it was the psychologist . he said what we wanted is to compete with others. we are comparing ourselves with other people, when what we need to do is to love what we actually have. both ladies, an (piano teacher) and the lady who can't close her eyes, are both pretty to begin with
that girl with the so called "unveven eyes" looks pretty...? Like if I honestly can't tell anything that looks bad about her.
Dolores Dean
I thought she looked completely normal
Her right cheek is droopier if you look properly. But it's so slight that most people won't notice or care, really.
She needs help ... there are people with REAL disabilities.
@Joselene Lu even 5% is a huge no. Covid cases didn't reached 5% n its everywhere

Because they know the risks and they know that's not necessary. They've already gotten ahead because of their careers.
Nabi Sonyeo exactly!
because the dealers dont do drugs
+alif akbar But most drug dealers actually *do* use drugs...that's a bad comparison. Drug dealers didn't go through years and years of medical school to learn the risks of drugs and surgery.
In the US as well. Most plastic surgeons are men, and being male isn't associated with getting plastic surgery.
Everybody doing it except the doctors

When everybody's beautiful no one will be.
Soon everyone will be pretty, looking like models, and it's not pretty anymore, It will be considered the norm, those who are ugly will stand out and be unique and that will be THE BEAUTIFUL

because korean expectation is higher. So foreigners don't see anything wrong but in their own sphere it is. Tragic

If you're asian and have natural monolids keep them that way it makes you unique and you're beautiful , don't let anyone bring your self esteem down.
not a good idea to tell people what to keep. are pople telling white girls to not diet when they start at age 12 and only stop around the age of 45 when menopause kicks in ? white women are not naturally thin . there is a variety of sizes for a reason. they flat iron their hair for 30 years straight non stop , we know many have curly hair.

Raoh Shiro It's not even the job, it's the society.
Raoh Shiro In South Korea, when you send your resume to employers, you must send it along with a headshot of yourself so they can judge you on whether you are an ideal candidate to hire.

Adrienne D. Japan and China too I guess.
Adrienne D. I tough that this was the norm. until a few years it was also a necessity in Germany. now you *can* send a headshot since it increases your chances for the job.
pei It's only your imagination.
I'm a Japanese woman.
Japanese people don't get plastic surgery to get a job.
Valid point
@Critec Ah yes, because a tibia reconstruction is cosmetic. Dumbass.
Interesting because as someone who had breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty, I didn’t experience that. I never had nightmares or any regrets.I don’t have any trauma related to my cosmetic surgeries. I’d do my procedures all over again because I believe they improved my life

Flower Power 18 and over.
exactly..as a 25 year old i have learned to love my imperfections. if i would have been able to change myself as a teen things would have gone bad and out of control.

My remedy: I learned not to care for other's opinion.
I tell myself the same thing. I couldn't care less about what others think of me. However, in reality, I think it's impossible to really not care. Our whole lives revolve around other people and their thoughts.

Learn to love yourself! if they don't like you SCREW THEM!
ryancute22 you've obviously never had insecurities about your appearance before
insecurities can't be helped. But for me, loving yourself is better despite of being physically imperfect.

Sometimes people should see their problems for what they actually are and try not to overdramatize the situation they're currently in.
What a sad documentary.
Fox lol. Its sound like beauty outside. Evil inside.
Nah
@@buddyman8474 hahahha agree
I feel so bad for the girl who's surgeon messed up her eyes, but she is still so cuteeee!!!
"lets be honest everyone like pretty girls" that harsh reality
She ignored the fact that she was already pretty, though.
True
Oh come on everybody is pretty but society have this kind of judgement that finally make themselves feels ugly.
De Nox Dblong everyone must be white then
totally true but not the heart🤔
"let's be honest, everyone likes pretty girls."
But.... but.... you are pretty O_o
She's wrong. People like the prettier and prettiest girls.
Tiamat Aberash
Its not always..why not donald triumphs wife is beautiful...
World has balance even in love
This sentence is a big fat lie!!!
I was always the center of envie even if I am pretty average as a person and the evil stares of other women made me always uncomfortable. I’m not lying: (
She is. But Korean society won't let her see that
but maybe if she remove her makeup
All these women are beautiful and don’t need the surgeries. Wish they could see what I see!
K
I know, i wish i was that pretty. its a waste of their youth.
@Shabbir Hossain Yea Shabbir i agree.

Actually, this obsession is a reflection of an emptiness in their souls.
It's a reflection of the influence of American culture.
And your lack of compassion is evidence of your lack of a soul.
Karylle Mendez i don't even know what the girl was thinking. she's already pretty
The girl, Ahn Min Yung, who who went for a cheekbone reduction surgery was much naturally pretty enough. Just look at how lovely her smile was during interview. If the society goes by appearance only, there's a problem. Perhaps I don't understand bc I ain't a girl.
I'm a girl and I think she looks very pretty and sweet. Taking a look at her I'd never think that she's one that needs PS. Sad.
indeed she's pretty for me
You only feed society's obsession with superficial beauty further.
+memphis3106 kinda reminds me of the saying "Drug dealers don't try their stuff"
yes!!
pretty sure all their wives have gone under the knife.
Liuhuayue They have money and perhaps healthy social lives and mental states
I am beautifully and wonderfully made by God..no surgery needed...🤗
man i'm glad i live in Argentina in my ranch wiht my two dogs and my quiet life outside of all these "new world" problem's.
Me and my wife are actually planning a vacation to Argentina...it looks so beautiful. I don't speak Spanish but she does, she's Mexican.
Man, you're living the good life. Enjoy it bud, you only live once. :)
I LOVE GIRLS LIKE THAT
Can i come live with you?
Sounds like an awesome life. It's my goal to live in the country side.
the girl who feel like she is disable woman just because her eyes surgery failed, have to realise that she is beautiful, i dont even know about her double chin or about one of her eyelids cannot be closed if she didn't mention it.. she just look normal for me
She shaved off her jaw bone and the excessive fats on her face got nowhere to go...
@@kenbibi7631 Well, easy to call someone else a snowflake when you haven't gone through what they experienced.
Should have asked the surgeons if they would consider plastic surgeries themselves
These people do the surgery for success in life. Why would someone who is already there have a surgery?
It's like asking, drug seller to take drugs, don't you think?
I think it would be really interesting to see their point of view as surgeons because obviously they haven't done it.
You never paid attention to the movie Scarface... rule number one... You never use your own supply.
He probably was a nice guy in the beginning. But after a while, and countless surgeries later, he's mostly disgusted with all these women?
Why didn't I think of that!
Ananya Lal I agree he didn’t even look concerned
I agree ur comment isn't dumb
How is your comment dumb. If anything, it's the truth 😉
ainhoa aparicio
I don't think your comment is dumb. If anything, no offense to any certain people, but I appreciate natural beauty over tempered beauty. I live in a country where there are plenty of Korean and their culture is highly regarded in this society, and many people ask me if I see Korean girls attractive or do I think their ladies are beautiful, and I always have this pre-assumption and stereotype if they are then they must have undergone plastic surgery and not the real them, and by that alone I've already lost interest. Can't help it. Again no offense to anyone, it's just my personal opinion.
ainhoa aparicio that woman that was not happy about her slimmer face is one ungrateful beeotch.
She's obviously dysmorphic.
The woman that wants to reduce her cheeckbones should seriously reconsider her decision. Having cheeckbones is a beautifull bonestructure. It is a shame she doenst see her natural beauty.
Jesus Christ that first girl is so pretty! Why would anyone want their cheekbones cut!?
the devils games ...all so people would do things that show they are ungrateful the way God made them ..medical reasons is ok but not because of what they fancy ...
It's a cultural thing. Americans prefer high cheekbones. Asians do not.
Vanessa Benefico she was!!! Such a beauty!!! So sad.
imraan julius I have a deviated septum. No way!
And she didn't even like it in the end lol
After living 10 yrs in USA, I went to my home country and shocked that all girls are identical.Hands up power of beauty supplies from Korea.
In my country it's absolutely acceptable to be Imperfect and bad looking too.
No one has judged me or any other person I guess just by looking them.
When it comes to job, the most beautiful things to watch are skills and qualifications.
Thank God 🙏
What a shame, because when that girl laughed I thought her personality and beauty came forward. She didn't need it!
There was seriously nothing wrong with the woman who got her cheekbones "done". It's insane how much plastic surgery is marketed in Korea.
Harry Fishnuts You sound ugly both inside and outside. No wonder you’re so bitter.
Easy to say when you're pretty.
Yeah, I rarely can distinguished actor/actress/singer from South Korea... They all look the same...
This indeed is very sad, seeing beautiful people with beautiful features feeling like they need to be molded into the same cast in order to look up to the "standard". What is the standard anyways?! Who decides this? Why try to make everyone look the same? They are beautiful the way they are.
