What a beautiful interview and what an honor to have Sir Elton John say those things about Metallica it's just mind blowing..Metallica is the Crème de la crème , they are brilliant musicians..
One of the things I hate the most is how one part of a fandom thinks that a band is 'only' about the type of music they are making, and nothing else. The plain fact is, all successful musicians are successful because their musical tastes branch out into other areas. Just listen to any famous artist when asked 'who their inspirations were'... you'll see heavy metal musicians paying tribute to The Beatles, or Joni Mitchell, or The Temptations. Kids buy their albums, and dress like they do without realizing that these bands they idolize, grew up idolizing many different forms of music themselves. It's beautiful to see both sides.... Elton getting fired up about the musicianship of a metal band, and tears coming to the eyes of Metallica at being appreciated by such a legend. Music really is transpositional. You can take a song, and recreate it into a different style or genre quite easily. No song is 'only' a rock song, and no artist is 'only' a metal artist. They are creative people who have a wide spectrum of musical interests.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen James Hetfield tear up before, ‘til I saw this clip, the way he places his hand on his forehead hearing Elton John praising their song tells you how much those words meant for him

I loved seeing James' reaction to this. I know he must have been floored to hear one of the best in the business telling him his song is one of the best songs ever. I know I teared up a little hearing that
Im a metalhead for almost 35 years.. but then I realize that a good song is a good song, despite whoever sing it or what genre they are. If we are hypocrate about music.. seriously, you will missing a lot of good moment in life.

I read an article a long time ago about James's favorite songs and was shocked that two of them are by Elton John. To have one of your songwriting heroes give your song the ultimate compliment must be a life changing moment.
Also Dave Mustaine from Megadeth and Kerry King from Slayer are Elton's fans
That moment when you are complimented by music royalty...
Priceless.
Elton John is such a legend; not just a musician, but as a human being overall.
I started listening to Elton John and Metallica before I started to speak. They were my first favourite artists. This is amazing
Very cool especially for you. Rock on.
Elton is actually a talented piano, even if you don't necessarily appreciate his music.
Elton is an absolute legend and to have his approval saying Metallica is one of the greatest bands is amazing. Hetfield's reaction says it all
From fanboying to starstruck to speechless after hearing Elton's compliment... James's reaction is gold, and the compliment is more than well deserved!
Wow he brought James to tears! What a compliment by a legend
Wow I had goosebumbs while Elton John praised Metallica that much. Even more when you see how much it means to James. ❤️
Seeing Metallica’s reaction to Elton John ‘s recognition is so touching and says so good about the band.
What a beautiful interview and what an honor to have Sir Elton John say those things about Metallica it's just mind blowing..Metallica is the Crème de la crème , they are brilliant musicians..
Love it when music artists respect other music artists instead of beefing
Papa Het is simply incredible. He’s the driving force behind everything they do and a staggeringly incredible guitarist.
Agree with every word of that compliment. James' reaction is everything.. 40 years and Metallica is still alive!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen James Hetfield tear up before, ‘til I saw this clip, the way he places his hand on his forehead hearing Elton John praising their song tells you how much those words meant for him
This is why I’m still a Metallica fan!!!
I took my son when he was young, into the pit … every Metallica member gave my son something..Lars walked over and gave him his drum stick 🙏🏼
Kudos to Sir Elton and Miley too 🤘🏽
That's awesome!
That's so crazy thing ever in rock history between sir Elton John and Metallica and of course Miley Cyrus too
They’ve stood the test of time because they’re music is timeless
Im glad they don't forget where they came from, are self deprecating, humble, and appreciative. Probably why they are still around.
What a compliment from Elton John, it deeply touch James, thanks to all these greats artists 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
To see Metallica starstruck is really something. To see James emotional because THE Elton John said he wrote one of the greatest songs of all time is SO great as a long time fan. Metallica has been a major influence on me musically and in life, so to see them getting the recognition they richly deserve, and from one of the legends of popular music no doubt, is a real thrill. LONG LIVE METALLICA!
Here I am, almost 40, still looking at these guys with teenagers’ eyes. They will always be my heroes. God bless Metallica.
Amen
Same. They still impress me all these years later🤘We are Lifers at this point
Yee
I will be 53 in a few weeks and I feel the same way
47 and I feel the same way.
A real gentleman.
No ego
Salute you Elton.
& Salute you Metallica.
James’ Reaction mean a lot to us.!
James' reaction to Elton John's compliments made me tear up. Metallica deserves this kind of praise and I don't think James accepts how great he really is, except maybe in moments like this.
Love Elton, love Metallica. One of the great things about rock is the immense diversity within the genre, from rockabilly, to soft rock to punk, to thrash metal, I love it all.
James’ reaction is just amazing, any Metallica fan that knows where he came from knows that that is probably a huge moment for him (and good for him, he wrote a damn good song 30 years ago and for people to still complement on him for it is a major accomplishment [especially from artists bigger than metallica])
Excuse me, but Elton John is not bigger than Metallica, artistically speaking. They are equally great in two different musical worlds.
It's usually fans of whoever that go around saying this band or this singer suck. It's very rare to hear musicians dissing other musicians. They know the talent and dedication it takes to be a success.
I need to see this whole show.
If you find it can you link it
@@xXxALeXFuTexBaLxXx Haven't found it but here is the song. She does a great job with this song!

"Its very rare to hear musicians dissing other musicians" eminem will prove you wrong lmfao
Seeing James get emotional when Elton John says this is one of the greatest songs ever must hit deep. This is such a personal song to James Hetfield out of EVERYONE on this planet if you really know the origins of this song, and to have one of the greatest musicians and song writers to say that...no matter your age that hits deep in your soul
Way to go, Elton! Kudos to everyone here--Elton, Metallica and Miley! All are great, smart, talented folks!!!
Listening to Elton praise Metallica this way brought tears to my eyes, I really don't know if there is any award a band could ever receive that would be better than those words!
I'm not even that big of a metallica fan and I loved seeing James wiping tears away as he heard a living legend give praise to his song, unable to conceal the emotion.
Looking at Papa Het being completely blown away by that compliment. Beautiful to see. I saw Metallica a few days ago and during nothing else matters I choked up. It’s the most beautiful song James Hetfield has ever written hands down. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I’m crying for James. Elton John is such an influential artist and to have him acknowledge something you’ve written would just knock me out. Beautifully sincere. 😷🤙🏼
This was amazing,James is really moved to tears by an icon praising Metallica's art.
James choking up made me teary eyed. Lars and ia voice breaking a d fighting tears.... That sent the tears pouring. Respect.
james’ reaction was priceless. to write something so beautiful and not even wanting to share it to having elton john call it one of the best songs ever written, is just something special man. james, we love you dude❤️ thank you for saving our lives with your lyrics
