Just finished my bottle....loved it!!
Nice! Wow, this is an old episode :)
Excellent review. I personally love the stuff over a large cube.
Hey Bill. Did a "For Science" pour to finish off a bottle Elija Craig Small Batch. 😎 this weekend 👍
Nice! Usually when I do a for science pour it's the same. Trying to bottle kill
I just cracked a bottle of this tonight and I absolutely love it. It has a great nose and mouth feel. On the nose, I was picking out molasses ( that may have been the orange you mention which might come out with a drip of water) and a grilled BBQ tang.
i had this a while back and its one of my favorite rye's
For sure. Really good Ryes are hard to come by!
What a teaser for second best rye ;) This sounds really good. Once I get through my bourbon stash, rye might be my next supplement to scotch.
Never tried a Rye so I must give it a go. Great review as always. 👍🥃🥃
Thanks David!
I live in a resort town in Florida. I've not yet found any New Riff product in my small town. I look forward to finding any bottle.
Cool review Bill 🥃
Thank you!
Looks like that patron list is getting longer there! I'll be trying the New Riff when I'm in Chicago later this month. Cheers.
It is! Everyone needs more Dic in their life :)
Makes a good old fashioned too.
I bet it would! Especially with that orange note already in the whiskey
Have you done a review and tasting on Pendleton? It is a "go to" of mine due to price and flavor. I looked a your reviews and did not see if you have filmed a review for it. Just wondering your thoughts.
I haven't reveiwed it yet. I've had it a few times. Always at a tasting so it was hard to get a feel for exactly what it was like. Either way, I like the idea of it and I'll probably find my way to reviewing it some day.
can't wait for this to make it's way to Europe
Only had the single barrel bourbon, which is solid
I would like to get a whiskey glass let me know how plz

I LOVE RYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a good one
Care to share what your preferred bitters and vermouth are? I just don’t care for the M&R vermouth. We just got back from a cruise and they made a wonderful manhattan using the JD Rye, bitters, Cinzano vermouth and brown sugar simple syrup. The brown sugar syrup added a nice depth but too sweet. On my second (and third etc) I asked for half serving of the syrup and that was much better. The Jack Daniels RYE was better than I expected, but, for that price I think I can do better.
I agree, the Jack Daniel's Rye was not bad. As far as my preferred bitters and vermouth, I haven't explored much yet. I'm pretty plain with my angostura bitters and whatever wasn't the cheapest vermouth.
Yeah the basic angostura bitters are in my cabinet, also orange. When I do an old fashioned, I do one dash of the orange into my glass then rub it all
Around the inside of the glass and outer rim. It’s a simple hack that goes a long way.
Chad i, we have been very pleased with Dolin for both their dry and sweet / rouge vermouths at about $15 per 750 ml.
Thanks, I've not tried that one, but, for that price I will!
Once again color me jealous! Not available behind the Zion curtain. One to keep in mind next time I escape planet Utah.
I'm surprised they haven't made it up to Utah yet. Heres hoping you escape some day
How does this compare to the Ryes from Catoctin?
They have good stuff but I only just tried their stuff at a tasting recently
Sounds like a bit much cinnamon for my liking, but otherwise sounds great. I'll have to at least give it a try.
