Jack very quickly entered my top 5 distillery list. They just do such an amazing job on every new product
Jack 12 and this are two of the best bottles I have had all year.
Just got a SB Rye, first day was incredible - then quickly went flat the next day to a weird, not good, bubblegum flavor
@@CH-ui7xr wierd!
Well let's get that top 5 from ya!
@@GeauxRilla in no real order, jack, wild turkey, mgp, heaven hill, foursquare
I just got my first bottle for $60 and even though I'm not a rye fan (I like them in cocktails or to try but never found one where I felt I needed a bottle), I'm excited to try these. I'm a big Jack fan and missed the special release rye when it came out and I first started getting into whiskey more seriously, so it became my white whale. Happy to hear that at least some of these give that run for its money!
I've heard other people say not to pay over around $75 unless you absolutely need that specific bottle because Jack's goal is to roll these out so they're like the normal JDSBBP and it's harder to gouge people on the prices.
I agree with you or review. We can get these in Texas where I am pretty easily. 139.3 proof if y’all want one from here.
Help me out my guy… can’t seem to find one here in MD
@@chasemouser7665 our local bourbon group here thought it would come and go but it’s being restocked. Just hold out and it will become a normal that you see daily.
So I've seen a couple of these, both of them were below 130 Proof. I am in Texas. Did they water down the product to sell more? For real how does that work, thanks! We tried one that was 128.8 proof and bottled 9/15/23. Much later than the bottles you had. Why would there be such a variation in the proof between barrels?
I passed on these bottles like a dozen times because I hated Jack Daniels from college. But then I finally got one. It's insane. My bottle tastes exactly like a bananas foster dessert.
I just picked up mine and I sweared to my wife it tasted like banana bread with a huge kick at the end absolutely phenomenal
Mine taste like a Werther's butterscotch candy. Smells like brown sugar and caramel. This is an extraordinary bottle of rye
I love how Jack tests the market through special releases then actually follows up on it and puts out product. 2020 release now we have SiBBP Ryes, twice barreled single malt, now there is a release out I think in duty free of the same thing, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they come out with it across the US when they have more barrels aged.
My SiBBP rye is delicious, mine definitely comes across more as a high rye bourbon. But considering how sweet the bourbon is this just tastes like a more well rounded whiskey.
Can’t wait to grab a SiBBP bourbon and make a little Jack Bourye!
Only thing that would take Eastman from a 9 to a 10 is a humidor
Did a review of my bottle on my channel and it was good but not anything near what the Special release was . Mine was more like your middle bottle . Good but not great . Good to hear that they vary . Cheers Fellas .
I was fortunate enough to get a 137.2. It opened with mint notes combined with a syrupy sweet, rye profile. It changed a lot during the two quick months it survived . It never faded nor lost any flavor. It just kept on flowering into sweet and new flavors. If this can become a shelf staple, then the bar for all Ryes has been lifted. Bravo JD
Just got a 136.2... My new favorite bottle of whiskey I own.
These and a OFBS rye are high on my list. I'd love to see a blind with your favorite of the 3, the LE, and Old Forester barrel strength.
picked up one of these bottled 3.14.2024 and it was still all toasted marshmallows and deliciousness, so keep grabbin em!
Same!
Just picked up the new 2024 heroes collection JD SBBP RYE, and its 134.6 proof and i seen two comments mention the barrel number may be from some of the stuff on/in their coy hill rick. Its 1-13. I think theyre coming from 8 and 13 but idk if ryes are in the same place as the tennessee whiskies are!?!?
EDIT for this comment originally is that its gotta be the best rye ive had, maybe even between a bourbon also!
I was lucky enough to get 2 bottles. The one that’s 139.7 I’ve tried and it’s very good. The other one is 142.9 and I haven’t had the chance to crack that open yet. Cheers
I also have a bottle of the 138.2 proof. I freaking love it
If my math is correct that's 69% Nice 😏😏
1-07barrelhouse,bottled 1/5/24,132.8 proof....most excellent my minions...I'm telling ya,top of the pop
🐈Cookie cat🐈
You guys need to do a JD Rye blind taste test with Jason C from Mash and Drum (he's in Ohio).
Have you tried the new Jack Daniels special release twice barrel rye recently released? Phenomenal!
We have, very off profile for Jack and I do enjoy it
Last week at our local store, I picked up an Eagle Rare and a Weller Antique! Lovin' life!
How much did you drop on the Weller?
I was lucky to grab hazmat bottle 141.8 proof which is amazing!!! Bomb of flavors which are coming and coming on pallet. One of the best JD bottle on my bar.
Great video guys which shows how different "same" bottles can be.
I’m drinking my first sample of this right now, and it is really really good. Mine is a store pick from Repetes in Holland, MI.
ALL the JD Ryes are same mash bill, 70% Rye. Wouldn't consider that super low for a TN or KY Rye, when many are 51% Rye.
Would you pay $85 for a barrel pick from warehouse 107? 132 proof.
Ive got aa 136.2 that is incredible... and a 136.0 backup that is the next barrel over (literally side by side barrels) excited for it.
Do you know that from the barrel#s, or are they picks or something like that.
Went out to buy the winning lotto ticket and some Guinness when I spot this JD SBBP Rye…my pantalones could not hide my excitement.
Given the heavy hitting proof point on these - good idea to pour and let it sit for 30 minutes or more?
I just had my first this weekend, along with my first Stagg Jr and GTS. This was for the money amazing, go get yourself one!
Cool experience. It would be nice to know the description date and barrel number of these bottles.
Great video. Maybe a dumb question, but why do different barrels have such different flavor profiles when they have the same product going in?
This is one of the biggest questions in whiskey. Weather and temp where they're aged, different cooperage, all the barrels are built different from one another (different staves used for each barrel, how long each barrel was seasoned before whiskey went into it, etc.
I got a single barrel of Balcones Rye (5.5yr, 134p) and NO JOKE, toffee/ heath bar on the nose.
After seeing this video I might need to pick up one of these JD to see how it compares.
My mouth thanks you, my wallet doesn't.
I’ve got a barrel pick of Balcones that is my current favorite rye that I own, don’t sleep on those picks!
With Jack (Brown Foreman) upping their rye game, is there any indication that Old Forester could be doing the same? Right now, the only options are 100 proof budget and Barrel Strength super hard to find. I would love to see an in between one perhaps even added to the whiskey row series.
I would love a cask strength OF option
@@BourbonJunkies I have a bottle of the Old Forester single barrel, barrel proof Rye and it’s phenomenal. I prefer it over my Jack Daniels single barrel, barrel proof rye. Cheers. 🥃
Saw this the other day for $250.00. I laughed and walked out. Saw the OF sib barrel strength rye in a local restaurant for $100 a pour. Crazy.
I dont get that. Its not even allocated
Had an OF BP Rye 130 proof a couple weeks ago. It was difficult to get past the "youthful and hot" aspect... wasn't impressed.
It's so good it sells out... I've seen it 125-150... is it dumb to pay that? Yes it's not THAT hard to find... but there IS a secondary.
The best from jack came after brown forman took it over.
Very interesting and well done. Hope to get more, I've only found one, but I really like the one I found. Have a Great Day Everyone.
9:01 That's a movie called They Live, Dan
These SBBP ryes are stellar!! Although I’ve tried a couple at this point and only one was sort of close to the LE. LE remains supreme.
I got 5 so far 1 was strawberry rhubarb pie insane
So great and such a reasonable price also. The Senator has been my favorite rye for a long time, but it may get replaced at the top by this.
Found one in Mid Michigan at retail last week. Can't wait to crack it!
I snagged a 139.3-proof bottle this weekend. It burns so bad it hurts to drink lol
I'd put that over ice at minimum
@@sn1000k I only drink stuff meat but there’s a good chance that will have to change with this bottle.
Great review gents. I’ve tried 3 of the new single barrels and one new store pick Sib rye compared to two different 2020 LE bottles the store pick beat the one 2020 LE bottle but the other LE bottle beat all. The store pick beat all shelfers. Either way JD is killing it and some of these shelfers and more of the store picks will beat the 2020 LEs no reason to buy those on secondary anymore
That's sort of a spoiler
@@stephenhumma4772 I figured most people realized lol
Hi, I'm from Italy. I'm not sure if this Jack Daniel's will be brought to Europe. Would you get it for $200? Thanks
Just after Christmas break, the boys came to work and picked a barrel nonpareil. .2400128,masterpiece...like a honeycomb from the farm
are they more expensive in different states? i found mine for msrp of 60.00 at a liquor store and my back up for 54.00 at a gas station/liquor store in michigan
Does anyone know where I can buy from an internet sales website? Its now October and still hard to find anywhere near MSRP......Cheers!
Ok managed to snag one at a BevMo for $75 and gotta ask. This or your Mythology Rye pick? Both 13x proof rye. Both fantastic. Which is better?
I got 2 and they are both amazing. thanks for all y'all do!
Wow you guys got some high proofers. I found 2 of these recently, 126 and 130 proof.
Maybe stop putting so much old #7 out and pump out more of this other stuff please and thank you. Because for as big as jack is I can never find any of there special stuff here in CA
My ABC got some back in stock finally. 130.2 proof for $64.99. I love the SBBP, so I’m hoping the rye is just as good/better.
I know this has nothing to do with this video so I apologize in advance, but curious about your guys' thoughts about Molson Coors buying Blue Run? Podcast topic maybe?
Just impossible to find in NJ. Found it in one store for $200. Not paying that for a $70 bottle. People are just greedy.
I live in a control state and they’re 65.99 here. Got lucky and found one a few months ago. Haven’t cracked it yet but I am STOKED
jack daniels has been hitting it out of the park lately. They must be pissed they aren't viewed as a top tear brand
My pop is bringing a haul back from the JD distillery for me. One of the, the anejo finished and the pecan finished.
Okay no bullshit, no homo, when shawn gave that look at the camera after "I knew this day would come". I swear it was like he looked directly into my brain and was like "stop. just stop" like we had the same thought.
I didn’t realize you guys didn’t have that yet. I picked these up in Chicago about 2-3 months ago and sent one to SLB Drinks for their review and gave one to Mike @ A&B. I travel every week and I’m always shopping, y’all should hit me up and I can let you know when I come across stuff you want. I’m at Mike’s pretty much every Friday night.
Found 3 on the shelf yesterday randomly. Grabbed 2 for $65 each.
JD SBBP & JD SBBP Rye are both $69.99 in Virginia 🤘🏻
I’ve got a black tuxedo cat, name is Winny, and he is extremely sassy too. Most vocal cat I’ve ever known, with a huge personality!!
I am really enjoying it. It’s only been last year I really have started to enjoy single Barrel Jack stuff. It might be a Tennessee thing but it’s got that grape note I get off Dickel 8 but in a good way with this. Get a sweet slight banana syrup nuttiness and then that baking spice toasted brown sugar I get from older MGP/ KY ryes. I’m really digging it. Deff does not drink like a 127 proof drinks more like a 105-110
So funny there are like 15 bottles of Blue Run on the shelf behind and they goin nutzo over JD Rye
The 2020 Special Release is the best whiskey that I've had, PERIOD! Rye is my jam! Wish I could get my hands on some of these new ones.
New special release this year twice barreled rye at 100 proof only 1 guy I seen had it in Gatlinburg TN
Just saw this in Oregon. Y'all talking it up so much I'll have to grab one.😂 myself.
Just picked up 2 bottles of a Total Wine pick…55 bucks a piece. 66.55% ABV. It’s phenomenal! Thanks for the review.
Jealous. Still haven’t seen it searching (a little) in 4 states on vacation. Still hoping.
It sounds like the JD single barrel proof rye seems to have greater variability in nose and palate than does the bourbon (when I finished this sentence, Dan was saying nearly the exact same thing! 😂) As long as it’s good, who cares?! Lol! 🎉
I have a 137.7....Jack Daniel's don't miss!!!
I saw 5 at my local liquor store. Bought 1, loved it, went back to buy more after about a week, and they were all gone.
Hottest one I've seen so far is the 133.0 that I got...and it turned real banana-y. 🤢
To answer your question "I hope that is coming through?" The answer is yes! Meeeeooooww 🤣
So what you are saying is that every bottle (unless they are from same barrel) are going to be different…
Still waiting to get my hands on one.
Yes
I got a JDSBBP Rye for Father's Day that's 140.9 Proof for $55. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm really excited to. I also got a store pick The Senator Rye that's fantastic.
How does this compare to the Barrel King bottle I just bought ? lol
I had this at PITP bottle share. I liked it even though I'm not a big fan of Rye.
Love the JD rye SiB! Fantastic pour! I do get a bit of dill on this one…
I got 138.2. It’s a beast. Paid $80, I think. Excited to see it evolve as I drink it down.
I got a 134.2 from last year December.
When are you going to talk about your Barrel King release.?
I can't wait until these hit here. I'ma buy all the different barrels I find.
I have 133.3 proof bottled 9-16-23 so good.
Bought one for 80 bucks. Not mad about it all.
I have been looking for these is south east indiana and cannot find one!!!
I got a bottle 2 weeks ago. I am not a true rye fan. But this stuff is awesome. I think I'm going to get a bunker bottle or two of these. They are that good.
Just like Stagg, I am going to grab one everytime
I was never a JD fan until the select series came out!
@Dan & @ Sean, look into the future. Do you think 1-3 years from now, the flavor/age on these might drift & we will look back on 2023 JDBPR from this time as special bottles?
Maybe, but they're laying down 2000 barrels a day so they've got a lot of whiskey to choose from
They are $62 in South Carolina 😂
I hate these videos because they sound like the perfect gateway from bourbon into rye... and they're impossible to find for less than 2x msrp...
These are becoming very common in a lot of areas for retail which is great news
Just scored the last one today. I live in Pa , outside Philadelphia (delco) and the bourbon in Pa sucks ! You can get any good bourbons here .... I might have to move ! Can't wait to open it.
PA ia s a sad state for a bourbon (or rye) lover. Sux I live here too and got into bourbons and ryes...
We haven't gotten them yet in the hills of East Tennessee!
I have yet to find these anywhere near me in Texas.
Just started on my whiskey journey after drinking beer for the longest. I found a pack of JD family line that had single barrel select. I tried some of it, and it's smooth, but all I could smell and taste was the alcohol. How can I tell what the notes of it is with smell and taste? Or does that come with drinking it for some time?
It comes with time and experiences. I personally have a weak pallet and can only taste three general profiles and not the specific flavor. For example, I can taste baking spices in whiskies but cannot tell you which ones.
I have the 137-2 proof, and it is awesome! The “Old No. 7” is killing their reputation! I know it’s most of their revenue, but they do know what they’re doing at JD!
Their reputation seems pretty stellar these days
I have 2 of them. 133 proof and 132 proof
I need this one. Not in MN yet. Keep it up boys.
Cat came through. Love it.
I picked up a bottle ($70) this week and now I’m suuuuper excited to try it!
I've had 3 bottles of JD SiBBP Rye. Do yourself a favor and add a cap full of water to a 1.5 oz pour. 1st time ever that I've actually liked the watered version of any whiskey more than the full strength.
