  • As a Black, working- class gay man, cultural critic Michael Arceneaux has encountered many barriers in life, and is an expert at using humor to highlight important - though sometimes uncomfortable - subjects. Now the bestselling author is out with a new collection of essays, I Finally Bought Some Jordans, reflecting on his journey overcoming societal barriers -- from debt to heteronormativity. Arceneaux speaks about it all with Michel Martin.

Love Love Love Michael Arceneaux pinpointing that we should focus on POLICY or token politics. Every point Michael raised was SPOT on. I hope he does super well in his book sales.

That's supposed to be a compliment? No - not really. The subliminal messaging is clearly and insidiously something else, entirely. [But my sense is...that WAS the whole point.] I

Wow he makes a lot of sense- he gets it …. Never bought Jordon because he never really did anything massively for black Americans- where is his boys club / girl club / why didn’t he speak at black high schools after he retired - just think about the outcome if he told kids to do their homework and stay out of trouble. where is his underprivileged centers to help poor kids ….. mostly poor people buy his sneakers which made them very popular to everyone. These people are low information and get high of Jordon’s sportsmanship. Where is Jordon’s gratitude? Anyway , I’m sure he’s helped some people but we should all know vital things he’s done for communities that buy his shoes.

That's not because you want shoes it's because you want to make a statement with what you buy. Normal people don't care.
