For those wondering... I made the owl sound just using my hands.
It's a trick I learned back when I was a kid 😂
Ik about that!
That's a hand ocarina :)
“Whenever that owl hoots, a mist rolls in...” murmured Edward,
“There’s a legend that when the mist is about, there’s a ghost about too. Take care on the old line, Henry.”
Were you a Boy Scout too?
I was wondoring if you can do the runawai theme
I remember as a very young kid being legitimately disturbed by this episode. I remember having to skip it or just close my eyes when it came next on the vhs. This episode was my first ever horror experience.
Same here brother
I actually loved the sheer suspense it gave me, idk why though.
Well at least I’m not the only one
Bruh me too! This was the only episode I could not watch as a kid, also the theme reminds me of Hitchcock's Psycho.
It terrified me so badly I could only watch ⌚ it during the day 1:03
The spooky episodes of Thomas have the best music imo, “Percy’s Ghostly Trick”, “Duncan Gets Spooked”, and “Haunted Henry” to name a few
They do! Luckily it gives me a few more halloweens of content 😄
Don’t forget Rusty and the Boulder.
Whoever edited that really knows how to.
Near the end, you can slowly see Boulder look at you...
Ofc that’s where we get our scary Thomas tunes
They are the reason why I like this series with a burning passion :D
as well as "Rusty and the Bolder" and "Stepney gets lost"
I don't know how Ghost Train could get more chilling and sinister. But you achieved that my friend.
The transition into the high notes with the train whistle was clean. Super chilling!
Glad to hear Austin!
it gives you that this ghost is taken seriously.
This was so chilling. Absolutely stellar!
Ah thanks Caleb!!
You can say that again
canzoni di thomas and friends the best song james runaway thomas and friends song percy
This
That chello sounds made me shiver with fright every time.
Everyone who loved this show as a kid owes you a great deal... This was amazing. I sounds how this theme FELT to a 5-7 year old
Haha right!? I was so frightened when watching this episode as a kid 😂
DANG. THE WHISTLE AT 0:29 ACTUALLY GAVE ME CHILLS. THAT TIMING OF THE WHISTLE WITH THE SCENE IS PERFECT
Watching this on VHS is one of my earliest memories 👻 Time to relive the terror
Haha me too! Somehow the VHS made it even scarier than seeing it in HD 🎃
Same
@@InstrumentManiac I don't recall being scared of this as a kid. I probably saw this episode when I was 2 because the only way I could watch this episode was on the 10 years of Thomas Tape that I had when I was very young. I guess when this came up, my Mom skipped this episode or had me close my eyes, or go into the kitchen while it was playing on my VHS Player and I didn't see the full episode till I was 5. If I did see this when I was 2, I probably closed my eyes, possibly even cried with tears of fear!
This is a very chilling and eerie theme. Additionally, that one scene of the watermill in the vast darkness, with the moon as its only source of light, where the Ghost Train patrols along the track with those scary cobwebs blowing behind it, has been archived in my memory for years. It gave me quite a scare, yet I couldn't look away.
They did such an excellent job on the filming of this series :)
I absolutely loved this episode as a kid. I had it on a CD, and it along with the episode of Edward managing to make it to the station with broken couplings were my all time favourites. You covered this super well, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
The wooden whistle makes it sound like an actual screaming ghost train
This is the most creative cover you've done! The owl hooting has always been an imprint on the theme in my mind and I love how you incorporated it into the music as well as the train whistles. Well done dude!
Ahh thanks Mainland! It really is one of those iconic themes from the show that is super memorable 👻👻👻
I remember getting chills from this episode solely because of the music. It got me good as a kid, and it still does now~
And on the day of the video my finger plunged into the like button pressing it like a lost soul
This cover was great as always, I loved the spooky instruments and sound effects!!
Haha incredible 😆 thanks for listening doncaster!
@@InstrumentManiac This Would’ve Looked Like a Horror Movie.
When I was younger and heard this opening music, I would hide behind the sofa because I was actually terrified of the opening. Yes I'm a wimp.
Haha me too!
I would shit my pants when i heard this
Me to lol
I’m with u
Join the club, bud. The theme itself gave me nightmares.
To think this exact episode scared me so much as a kid... I blame the music and effects. Truly well done for a kids show!
Same here!
This theme is the definition of sending chills down my spine. Great work!
Wow, thank you!
You should definitely do a fully orchestral version of the "Escape Theme".
November 11th 🙂
Preview here: twitter.com/InstrumentMania
That might be Oliver’s theme
You should do an orchestra version of The Busy Station theme.
Do you remember the station theme in season 1. It played everytime we saw knapford station
The first time I listened to this was with headphones and it sent chills down my spine! Lovely theme!
Ooooo, it makes my wheels wobble to think of it...'Ghost Train/Percy's Ghostly Trick' is easily the pinnacle of spooky or Halloween episodes from the series and your recreation of the iconic theme was scary good!
Agreed, such a good episode! Thanks for the kind words :)
Spoopy! Very fitting for this Halloween season! Hope one day, you'll do the Chinese Dragon theme.
Ah it's on the list! Maybe for a future halloween since it's so... *sp00ky*
and every year from the date of the accident it runs again as a warning to others plunging into the gases shrieking like a lost soul !
tHE ACCIDENT!!!!
One of the best lines in the whole show 😂
Percy what are you talking about??
It’s gap
The Ghost Train! Driver saw it last night.
Where(ask thomas and Toby)
Awesome work! You've really recreated that spooky, eerie atmosphere. Bravo and well done🙂
Thanks for watching KM!
I just found your channel a couple days ago and I love it! I have listened to almost all of your Thomas covers and they're all exquisite. This one is one of my favorites though. You gave an already chilling and memorable theme so much more life and it's incredible. Very good use of atonal chords to create that uneasy feeling. Keep up the good work Luke!
Thanks for such a nice note Kristine, I really appreciate it!
Once again, you've absolutely outdone yourself! This sounds just as terrifying if not more so than the original! Great choice with that wooden toy whistle - it sounded very ghostly 👻 and made it all the more haunting! Can't wait for next year - hopefully with "Duncan Gets Spooked"! Well done!
Thank you!! Haha yeah I'll have to figure out what to plan for next time around 😆
Oh my gosh, this was really good! When I was younger, I used to be terrified of this theme and the episode in general, but now I can really appreciate the effort that went in to it!
One of the best written and filmed episodes out of the whole series!
@@InstrumentManiac Exactly!

This sounds like I would here this in a horror movie Thomas & Friends

This piece is so much more better than horror movie soundtracks today
Wow this theme sounds even spookier than the real version of this song and yes I’m still working on my part for the engine roll call and I’m gonna try to getting done before Halloween this year in two days or less! And if not then maybe on the next collaboration video you’ll do on your channel if their is a next time. But main that ghost train theme you just played gave me the chills that’s up for ratings now good stuff good job with the double bass part how clever of you to tune it down a notch.
*"And every year on the date of the accident, it runs again as a warning to others. PLUNGING into the gap!!! SHRIEKING like a lost soul!!!"*
What a great rendition of this motif. I'm definately getting notes of the "Psycho" score, especially in the screeching strings...!
Ahh great to hear, that's what I was going for!
The scariest piece of music I've ever heard just for its simplicity, the violins always remind me of the shower theme from Psycho, and the build up really drives home a foreboding tone, this music was in my nightmares as a child
Glad to hear it brought those visceral emotions!
@@InstrumentManiac So you're glad to hear this piece of music made me suffer? 😂
@@InstrumentManiac But no I'm kidding, great job pal
This was so chilling. Absolutely stellar

Thanks Thomas!
It was a cold dark night on the Iron Goat Trail in Washington State’s Cascade Range. 2 figures walked along the old railway pass holding lanterns. They came across an abandoned snowshed that was built in 1911. One year before that, a tragedy unfolded. It started on the 22nd of February 1910. Engine 25 was pulling a passenger train west from Spokane to Seattle. The train stopped alongside another train in the small town of Wellington, which no longer exists, during a snowstorm. The other train was a mail train pulled by Engine 27, also heading west to Seattle. Both trains were buried in deep snow. Some of the passengers and crew left the train to find help as the snowdrifts proved too tough for the snow plows. The rest (and majority) stayed behind in the train cars entertaining themselves by any means they could. After 6 days, a thunderstorm came in and it started to rain buckets. The passengers and crew thought the snow would clear and they would reach Seattle. However, this was something more dangerous: in the early morning hours of March 1st, a huge wall of snow, ice, trees and rocks came sliding down the mountain, slamming into the trains and pushing the people onboard right over a cliff towards the Tye River far below. The next day, rescue teams arrived and dug 23 living people out of the wreckage from the avalanche, but 96 poor souls were lost that night. It took until July to recover all of the dead bodies and not every corpse could be identified. But it is said that at night (and especially in Late February and Early March), a ghostly train races westward hovering over the hiking trail that was once covered by railroad tracks. Sometimes you can hear a ghostly bell or whistle and smell burning coal. Others have heard ghostly screaming and the sound of an avalanche when none is happening or seen shadows darting through the trees. The two figures walked to the Snow shed and placed a wreath made out of purple and black roses with a ribbon on it that said:
In Memory of the Victims of the Wellington Avalanche of 1910.
Then, they left the abandoned snow shed behind along with the spirits that roam the forest
Those strings make all the difference in how chaotically fast this takes shape from being eerie to downright creepy after the buildup. Loving the replication of the chuffing sound via sandblocks, wouldn't have the same feel without it.
Strings are the true horror soundtracks dream! Thanks for watching Toad 😄
This so beautifully haunting
This alone will give you nightmares 😱😱😱
Dare I say, “killer” work!
Yup, that’s Timothy’s theme right there.
Who's Timothy?
@@stephenbyrne2170 A fan made Ghost train based on a Thomas and Friends creepypasta named the untold story of Timothy.
This is so creepy and chilling!! Feels just like childhood, great job!
Holy smokes, they where you performed this themes is completely terrifying and sensed shivers down my spine, that shows how amazing you made this
Chills. Legit chills. Probably doesn't help that this episode gave me nightmares as a child
I got chills listening to this.

This is perfect HORROR movie music! : D

You KNOW its conveyed its intent too well if even the guy PLAYING ends up making himself spooked.
seriously, look at his expressions: This tune is TERRIFYING, and HES playing it!
That was metal as Hell!
Absolutely loved this it was so so beautiful
I am 28, and after all this time this episode still gives me the creeps. Well Done!
This was so awesomely spooky! The opening bars with the cellos and the creepy sound effects sent chills down my spine, as did the ending with the double bass. Yeah, your rendition of the theme is intense to say the least!
Still get the chills. Great job.
I like the touch with the whistle
Thank you very much!
@@InstrumentManiac no problem
That was very good, definitely gave me chills!
You've took it to the whole new level!
This episode scared the hell out of me when I was first seen it at 3 years old. Almost 13 years later, I'm close to 16 and this soundtrack still gives me the creeps.
0:17 looks like somebody is breaking a wood door or something like that and the ghost train whistle is one off the best parts
That's just me pulling the bow along the violin strings slowly! Strings make some cool and weird sounds haha
it dont look wierd look nice for a ghost train song
Spine-tingling. I love this creepy theme tune from Ghost Train.
absolutely epic, I'm at a loss for words.
😊
"And every year, on the date of the accident, it runs again as a warning to others, plunging into the gap, shrieking like a lost soul!"
Chills on the spine. And I like it use this for Halloween
im sooooooooooooooooo excited
That last bit I felt in my core. Well done
Ooh spine chilling
I came onto UA-cam saw this and made the same sound that I make when I barely avoid falling down the stairs.
😂😂😂
And every year on the date of the acidant it runs again as a warning. Plunging into the gap. Shrieking like a lost soul!
Percy what are you talking about?
Doing my rounds listening to all your works again and this is by far one of my most favorite pieces. The tone that is set and the overall vibe is amazing. Truly visceral and palpable terror and wonderfully unnerving. This would not at all be out of place in a classic horror film like Halloween or When a Stranger Calls. Please keep up the brilliant work!
My goosebumps exploded love the terrifying buildup
DUDE YES! This has got to be one of THE BEST you will post on youtube! CAN'T WAIT!!!
Hope you like it!
Man, I remember this episode gave me friggin' nightmares as a bab. It's *amazing* how much work the music puts into the atmosphere and emotion in this show!
Loved it in the 80s and it still sending chills through me 😁👍 and I loved it
Plus I love the depth of it too it just rumbles through you for sure
Walking along an old railroad in the woods on a warm misty night, you suddenly feel a chill - as if the seasons changed in a blink. Then you hear a faint steam whistle in the distance; you think your ears are playing tricks on you at first. But then you hear it again, and looking to the sound you think you see a small light of... a headlamp? Then you remember the line has been abandoned for decades: permanently closed after a horrific train crash, the engine's boiler having exploded after the train derailed, killing many people... and then you hear the whistle again, louder, stronger, more frequent, and getting closer, as the ground starts to rumble! Looking to the light again, you see it... the shadowy silhouette of a disfigured locomotive, barreling towards you at full speed
0:30 *"GET OFF THE TRACKS!!!"*
Nice addition with the wistel
this is the best one by far
😊😊😊
I’m listening to this in bed, in the dark, with my headphones in, and am now sufficiently shook. That was so good!!
Thanks Isaac!
This episode surpassed kid show vibes at the time. It was enjoyable, had great plot, but most importantly, had actual scary music.
Really well done. Classic thomas is best thomas
