Oh, this theme is legendary! The breakdown train wasn't a sentient character, but I think the theme associated with it is one of the most iconic in the show. The mechanical percussion fits absolutely perfectly, and the slow pace and low pitch really captures the seriousness of an accident cleanup situation. Definitely one of your best covers yet, everything about it was just masterful!
The same breakdown train that was in that one episode who is apparently alive in the adventure begins which I find really weirdAnd stupid because why can’t it be just like the model trains
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally do wanna completely obviously admit that the theme of the breakdown train from the popular 100% very much well-known perfectly as Thomas & Friends show's very own complete classic series era certainly happens to be exactly INDEED basically very much considerably 100% legendary as it certainly seemed to be exactly very much considerably heard in different variations in the show's very own complete classic series era for several seasons starting directly in the show's very own complete classic series era's entire 1st season throughout 2 episodes! In fact, the footage in the middle of the screen was basically from the episode titled Thomas Saves the Day when Thomas the Tank Engine rescued James from a serious accident when his wooden brakes caught fire resulting the observation of Thomas the Tank Engine getting his own Branch Line!
I love this version of the song. It often brings to mind a villain/minion with control of time magic, sitting on a pendulum and taunting the heroes stuck in time.
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally do wanna completely obviously admirably agree that the ratchet sounds great with the other percussion instruments as they certainly do perfectly resemble the cranes as they lift James back onto the tracks AFTER a montage of Thomas the Tank Engine teaching the Troublesome Trucks an officially simply important lesson for James off the tracks when his wooden brake blocks suddenly caught fire! In fact, the ratchet actually made it feel like BOTH cranes on the breakdown train certainly seemed to BASICALLY have been brought to life; which certainly did ACTUALLY EVENTUALLY FINALLY happen during the movie titled The Adventure Begins as the pair of cranes were obviously ACTUALLY been very consistently FINALLY given names: Judy and Jerome! In fact, it's completely obviously clear that Thomas surely DIDN'T ACTUALLY leave the Works Unit coach behind unlike back in the show's very own complete model era during the classic series!
This arrangement is SO impressive! It ticks all of my like buttons: - strong rhythm, ominous atmosphere, complex colourings... Very well done, Luke! It also reminded me of a Vivaldi concerto in several places, what with those full strings so very well developed. I liked it really much.
Honestly, the flute bit made me think of the part of Thomas and the Breakdown train when he's moving the trucks away and telling them off before they get to lifting James. Works very nicely.
As Percy's driver said in the episode titled Percy proves a point when Harold the Helicopter made his own official introduction to the show's very own complete 2nd season of the classic series, "Well, I'll be a ding dong dang!" just as Percy the Small Engine's race against Harold the Helicopter started! In other words, I'd especially would BASICALLY ALSO DEFINITELY 100% considerably love to hear their race theme someday!
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally just recently seen the list of character comebacks video showing that the breakdown train had EVENTUALLY become an official character during the show's very own complete switch to the show's CGI animated era during the movie titled The Adventure Begins when the pair of cranes were obviously clear to be ACTUALLY given names: Judy and Jerome
*Extended Breakdown Theme ends* “He tried to move, but he couldn’t. So Thomas helped him back to the Shed.” *Extended Sunset Theme plays (Next Song/Cover?)*
Having been a bit of a mechanic that's had to do multiple engine changes now and using an engine hoist at home or the chain hoist setup at the junkyard, this gets to playing in my head every time. Even start humming it
I've especially loved this version of the breakdown train theme just as much as the extended version, and especially on account of they've used a ratchet to resemble the cranes lifting James back onto the tracks!
I feel like I have to share this. So me, my husband and my son were doing some errands around town and my husband stopped at a store to pick up some stuff. My son and I stayed in the van because Covid. So he's getting bored and grumpy and I pop on your playlist and hook it up to the vans audio. By the time my husband came back, this song gets to the part with the cornets. He begins backing up when he hears the "car horn" cornets and immediately brakes, only realizing a second later it was the song. So... If you're going to listen to the playlist and drive, be warned about the car horns 🤣
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally noticed that 1 of the instruments used for the cover of the theme of the breakdown train featured a Wooden Railway version of the breakdown train; which certainly happens to be exactly just 1 of the pieces of rolling stock by Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway in my collection of different ranges of toys inspired by the famous TV show that'd been based on the Railway Series written by the famous Rev W Awdry who wrote 'em for his son named Christopher who was basically considered to be very Ill straight 'round the age of 3 years old!
I've especially liked to mention that the scenes in the center of the screen are from the episode Thomas saves the day when Thomas helped on the task of saving James who came off the tracks after his wooden brakes caught fire! That's the actual course of action that rewarded Thomas with his own Branch Line along with 2 coaches named Annie and Clarabel who made a character comeback in Blue Mountain Mystery!
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally saw the list of character comebacks video on UA-cam some time ago, and especially felt surprised when 1 of the character comebacks turned out to be the breakdown train! In fact, it's completely obviously clear that I personally found out that the cranes of the breakdown train were obviously given names in the movie titled The Adventure Begins; which are Judy and Jerome!
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally gotta seriously admit that you certainly know your stuff when it comes to making your own official covers of various themes straight from the popular TV show known as Thomas & Friends excellently! In fact, it's completely obviously clear that I personally love your own cover of the breakdown train as the ratchet resembles the pair of cranes lifting James back onto the tracks! I'm personally quite amazingly outstandingly impressed with your own official cover of the classic series era theme of the breakdown train!
listening to this stuff makes me feel like a child again, had this show on DVD when I was younger, and just this song threw me back 12 years ago where I'd watch them day in and day out
What a wonderful cover! I love how the strings give it a baroque edge, something I'd never considered when listening to the original. And I don't think the cornets sounded too much like a car horn, either. The ratchet was an inspired choice.
I've been looking forward to this. One of my favorite episodes was "Gordon Takes a Dip" because there's a decent section of this theme with no lines spoken after: "That evening, they lifted Gordon and laid a road of sleepers under his wheels to keep him from the mud. Strong ropes were fastened to his back end, and James and Henry, pulling hard, managed to bring him to safety."
You can thank the musical geniuses who composed the music, Mike O’Donnell and Junior Campbell It’s also worth thanking Britt Allcroft as she specifically requested that the music isn’t dumbed down to kids and can be enjoyed by all ages. It was this decision alone that made the music as good as it is
2:33 ongoing goosebumps. I remember how terrified i was as a child when i first saw this episode. Your cover made a 34 year old boy terrified again. Well done, very well done! Please keep up the good work. Really looking forward to your next video.
It went from the Edward & Gordon “Struggle Theme” to an original piece, then to the Down The Mine/A Close Shave “Rescue Theme”, next Pop Goes The Diesel, and the ending.
I love in this episode how thomas pushes a truck into the Crain like I always Imagined the Crain falling over or the Crain swaying about and dropping the truck
I've especially almost forgotten to mention that the season 1 breakdown train theme was also apparently used in the episode where Gordon ran straight into a ditch to simply avoid the task of pulling a goods train, and especially since the theme occurred during the show's montage of Gordon finally getting rescued from the ditch by a pair of tender engines known as James and Henry were mentioned to be helping him, but only James was seen in the episode's montage that took place during nighttime!

I've especially wanted to mention that the breakdown train hadn't been used for such a long time after they've built the Sodor search and Rescue Center! But, not until their chance for the fine pair of cranes finally got a chance to be Really Useful by helping Daisy the diesel railcar! That certainly reminded the Fat Controller how Rocky ain't the only breakdown crane on the North Western Railway, and especially made a proposal for the cranes to stay @ Arlsebrugh goods yard to be on standby in case of an emergency on the west coast of the island!
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally took notice that Thomas left the small works unit coach behind in the show's very own complete model era during the show's very own complete 1st season, but he certainly DIDN'T ACTUALLY leave it behind when he took the crew to the scene of the accident AFTER explaining 'bout James'wooden brake blocks suddenly catching fire while trying really hard to slow him down by trying really hard to couple up behind the brake van!
I've especially wanted to mention that I personally love how the snare drum joins the ratchet in resembling the pair of cranes on the breakdown train as they certainly were ACTUALLY working very hard to lift James back onto the tracks before Thomas helped him back to Tidmouth Sheds in the show's very own complete 1st season of the classic era, but it's completely obviously clear that Thomas took James to the Sodor Steamworks to be repaired in the movie titled The Adventure Begins before returning to Tidmouth Sheds where he'd been proudly rewarded with his own Branch Line that runs from Knapford Station to Ffarquhar Quarry!
Yes! My favorite non-engine theme is here! I was listening to this back in January and I noticed it’s actually a remix of Edward’s theme in a more suspenseful tone. How neat! Edit: It’s not actually remixed of Edward’s theme. Just the same same notes but different tone
Strong cables were fastened to his back end, and James and Henry pulling hard, at last managed to bring Gordon to safety. Late that night Gordon crawled home. A sadder and a wiser engine.

What if the "Big Boy" went to GWR, and derailed, is the Breakdown Train strong enough to lift it 🤔. If not it, he will become a great wonder of the world.
At the beginning it gives a scary impression of something old and clunky, but as the theme goes on it brite's up revealing an useful an helpful machine witch is the break down train itself, great work there Luke; I think the Band wagon at this point is the Band coach.
Absolutely awesome! Yet again, you made this simple theme sound like Mozart. As for requests, I have a non Thomas one that might be worthwhile, "The Little Engine that Could" from 1991. It's a short film and it has a beautiful theme.
This may be my favourite of your recordings of these themes. It amazes me how you take the original and make it better whereas so many people's recordings seem like pale imitations.
Wow! The way you've recreated this theme is superb! It was beautifully put together with the different tones in between. Bravo! It's so joyful to listen to these themes recreated and the videos themselves are wonderful with all the different instruments. I smiled when I saw a glockenspiel (just got to grips on how to pronounce it!). Well done and thank you 🙂
That was great instrument maniac it didn’t really sound exactly like the original version to me but it sounded more like the symphony orchestra/baroque orchestra feel I love the brass sounds the two corners sound basiclly a mix between the horns and corners and a little more alto trombone then tenor trombone and yes the cornet in your videos deserves more screen time along side the other instruments witch are more of the same instruments that you used more often in videos trough out the past years to now! Sounds good I’m loving it. But yeah it does sound almost the same just at a some what slightly similar tempo but Same key but it’s a little bit more orchestral but still an all their both good versions I like em multi instrumental electronic and acoustic type song
Well actually what I meant was it has a little bit different instrumentation’s in it then what the original version has this is like one of Luke’s ways of remastering it in his version of the song I would say I think the original version had a little more of a symphysizer than strings
This sounds like a BBC miniseries theme
I love your videos so fucking much

Henry when the men at Crewe are doing surgery, operating and rebuilding him after his Flying Kipper accident.🚂🔪
I think this may be the best thing I have ever heard
What if the "Big Boy" went to GWR, and derailed, is the Breakdown Train strong enough to lift it 🤔. If not it, he will become a great wonder of the world.
David Mitton's hand gets involved 👀
I’ve been watching this every day for two months it’s so good
At the beginning it gives a scary impression of something old and clunky,but as the theme goes on it brite's up revealing an useful an helpful machine witch is the break down train itself,great work there Luke;
I think the Band wagon at this point is the Band coach.
Thanks Everton - the Bandwagon is growing in numbers by the day!
This was an amazing piece, that flute section kinda has a bit of a Zelda vibe
I like how you inputted the Down the Mine variant at the end.
My favorite theme thnx for doing It 🙂
Absolutely awesome! Yet again, you made this simple theme sound like Mozart.
As for requests, I have a non Thomas one that might be worthwhile, "The Little Engine that Could" from 1991. It's a short film and it has a beautiful theme.
Great suggestion!
@@InstrumentManiac I'll second his suggestion for the theme from the Little Engine that Could movie!
This may be my favourite of your recordings of these themes. It amazes me how you take the original and make it better whereas so many people's recordings seem like pale imitations.
Ah that's so kind of you - thanks Harry!
Well done and thank you 🙂
Thank you so much!
This is the best variant of the breakdown crane theme ever great job keep it up!👍
Thanks, will do!
Dude this one was awesome
Thanks a ton!
Even as an adult, I tend to hum or whistle the breakdown train theme if I’m doing something that needs precision
fully relatable!
@@InstrumentManiac if you want to do something that needs precision, then listen to precision in music form
I think it sounded like it and amazing
Well actually what I meant was it has a little bit different instrumentation’s in it then what the original version has this is like one of Luke’s ways of remastering it in his version of the song I would say I think the original version had a little more of a symphysizer than strings
you should do Duncan Gets Spooked!
Possibly for halloween!
I love the breakdown crane its very cool
Original tune is Such a dubstep track! 20+ years before dubstep was even a thing!
