My Pink Nash Stratocaster And Red Nash Telecaster Guitars - Your Questions Answered - Sound Examples
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 тра 2020
- In todays video I address the questions I get asked all the time about my Pink Stratocaster and my red Telecaster . I am a huge Nah guitars fan and for the money they are pretty tough to beat. What pickups, wood, neck shapes, guitar controls, where I got them, the story behind them and much more.
Also my coffee mug makes it official debut! I'll have a store link to purchase them coming soon!
Finally I got a live streaming rig to start doing live streams. I would have done it sooner but as you can imagine streaming stuff is a little hard to come by these days lol! Let me know what topics you would like covered in the comment section below!

You're like the only dude on the Tube who uses only 2 guitars! Goes to show you don't need a big fancy collection of vintage, custom shop, or boutique guitars to have an awesome sound and serve all your tone needs. Thanks Brett!
You are welcome! I wouldn't mind having one or two more but that being said I am also totally happy with what I got!
I have 3 electric an 1 acoustic. For me the main advantage for multiple guitars is that I can have each one of them tuned differently so that I can play something by Keith Richards in open G and then not have to re-tune to down a half step if I want to attempt to play Hendirx LOL! Or like the crazy tuning like the Smashing Pumpkins use. Basically I am lazy.
Hes “in the tube” look at his shirt!
@@GMan-pi4or you need a robot
We do only have 2 hands ✌
Anyone else at 1:27 screaming "No liquids near the tech!"?
Lol!
Lol, yeah, anxiety city.
15 Minute Guitar no liquids near it??? He dang put it on the damn thing. Next we’ll be watching his video and he’ll place the coffee on the keyboard without batting an eyelid and we’ll all be screaming at the phones, tablets and computers.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😩😩😩like in the movies, slow motion. 🤣🤣🤣
I have had almost every version of Nash Made. They are truley awesome Guitars, especially their Tele's and Strats. The Necks are to die for, and yes a more than half price Fender Custom Shop. Blindfolded you wouldnt notice the difference. And of Course the Lollars are amazing.
Agreed!
Any experience with Nash wayfarer and is 1200$ used cad a good price
NASH, straight up no nonsense straight great guitars at a decent price.
Agree 100%
Chicago Music Exchange, Joel and David will take good care of you and sell you hand picked guitars and amps. I have been dealing with them for years and they always treat you right. Stay safe Papa, you can always fill content with your teaching songs, technique, theory, your filming methods, inserts of your CAGED and other courses, etc. You do have some great interviews with some fantastic artist and I always look forward to your next post. Thanks.
Thank ya sir! Glad you like the content. And yes the CME guys are all great!
My favorite tone of all the youtube cats. Sounds amazing.
Why thanks for that! Just plugged straight in!
Amen!
Yeah man!!
Yes! I have the exact same coffee machine! Going strong for over 10 years now!
Such a good one!!
The Nash S-68HX is about the best left handed Strat you can buy. I did tweak it a little by replacing the Lollars with some vintage correct, late '60's single coils and even got the reverse vintage stagger to make it more authentic Jimi when flipped righty. I also replaced the tremolo springs and now it nails the late '60's big headstock sound.
After watching the rest, yes I replaced the TUSQ nut with bone and replaced the bridge but ended up putting the original Gotoh block back on, but replaced the saddles, base plate and six screws. Also, after years of begging Bill, he finally broke down and sold me just the reverse headstock neck so I could have a replacement and would never have to take the guitar out of service for a refret. Speaking of broken truss rods, I recently had the exact thing happen in my vintage 1964 Tele. The Nash Tele neck must have a vintage correct small OD rod in it that is fairly easy to break if you are not careful. Especially when they rust up some. Luckily, my luthier was able to replace it with another vintage rod from an old Fender bass. Delicate work but you would never know anything was ever done.
Bought my Nash T-63 after watching your videos. Love that guitar!!
Awesome!!
Dude!
Coffee cup on a lap top with a guitar neck and headstock within inches!
What's wrong with this picture?
I was so tense!
😂
Damn just noticed that!! 😬😬😬
Saw that straight away too and was like eek. I have one rule that I live by everyday, no liquids sat on gear of any description, bottle or cup, Period!!
I always use your lessons for my guitar grades and they are so helpful
Awesome! Glad you like them!
thanks for sharing these great stories, one of the best videos I've even seen on a long time!
Wow, thanks man! Glad you liked it!
Lollars are sick! Almost bought a Nash Strat for the pickups alone, but didn’t want to sell my Fender Strat...dropped the Dirty Blondes in it and I’ll never part with it now !
Way to go!
I’ve got that same Nash Tele in red. You’re right. It is an amazing guitar.
For sure!
Dude, you're so freaking awesome, everyday I watch something of your channel, you're an excellent guitar teacher.
Thanks man! Glad to hear you like the vids!
I loved the overview, many questions answered :) And several unexpected surprises! Thanks for sharing a peek into your 1 and 2 with us
Sure thing! Thanks so much for watching!
Always the same guitars from your 1st video on youtube. You have a great sound ,you also have a great coffee machine but you need a stainless steel pot to make the milk foam (I'm the bar manager in France) thanks for the video, See you soon.Merci pour ta video toujours interessante .
Thanks! I have a stainless steel pot but it was in the dishwasher lol! I figured you were in that biz. I can tell, spent half my life doing that as well! Best people skills training ever!!
Your laugh always gives off good vibes. There is something magical about the way you play. It's hypnotic. Titanic tone as well. I always keep coming back. Come to Papa. You all.
Thank ya! Glad you like the vids!
Man I been WAITING for this video since I came across your channel when I started playing guitar 18 months ago!! LOVE YOUR CHANNEL -Stache!!! “YEAH”
Thank ya! Glad you are digging' the channel!
So true. The fender design with the volume knob is horrendous. Really bad location. Wish Fender and these builders would fix the design.
Haha, maybe some day!
Brett, just came across this video and I myself have a T52 and T63 Telecaster.....love, love, love these guitars. Great Tone, playability...You have a great channel, keep up the great work!!
Thanks Michael! Yeah they are fantastic guitars!
@@BrettPapa Hey Brett, Just bought my first Nash Stratocaster T63....Guitar Heaven. Playability and tone outstanding. 3 tone color. Hope all is well.
Cheers from NY! Totally enjoyed the vid today Brett, love your channel bro! :)
Thanks man! Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
A Nash T-63 is just gorgeous, sonically and physically.
They are such great guitars! Tough to beat for the money.
My ‘95 American Standard Strat has a Hotrail in the bridge and I went master volume and tone too. Made such a huge difference getting rid of that volume knob. I have large hands and would always hit it. It’s also my first electric I bought it new as a kid. Keeper!
Awesome!
I'm finding myself gassing for a relic Telecaster. Definitely will check one soon, and luckily a local store is a dealer.
Sanded necks.... I have a Kotzen Telecaster, and anyone who has played one knows they have that MIJ perfection, but the deep U neck with prominent shoulders is a bit much, even for those who love fat necks. So i used a cabinet scraper to shave off the shoulders and wet oil sanded with 400, 600, 800, 1200. I can't get over how amazing it feels now. No finish but feels finished. Zen neck hack!
Oh yeah, no finish is the best!!
When you have only one or two guitars, you get known by those guitars... look at SRV... he only played a few...you get to really know those guitars and can extract the tone from them more easily.
Yeah for sure.
I have a Nash S-63 HSS. The best guitar I’ve ever played.
Yep I love my Nash guitars. They are fantastic!
Awesome stuff 🔥. For future videos...I personally love seeing collaborations. I watch you, Marty, Lindsay (on Marty's channel) & Carl Brown. Music connects us & different approaches are sonic medicine. How about some of the names you mentioned in this vid? Your old Italian mentor, some other Nashville session guitarists...
You're the dude Brett 👊. Thanks for sharing your talents 🤘🎸
Thanks man! Lots of colab stuff in the works! More coming soon!
Tele and a les paul or 335. that's the perfect combo.
Yeah for sure!
So does Nash make their own guitars from selecting the wood, cutting, building, etc. or do they just get pre-made neck and bodies from USACG or Warmoth and paint, relic and assemble them?
I am not sure how they do it now. Back in the day I think they were parts guitars.
Honestly, I love real stories from players. He talks like BB King, Billy Gibbons, and Buddy Guy with these great rambles!
Thanks!
Just bought an S-63 (Reverb) 3-tone burst. So jazzed to get it.
Have an Eric Johnson Strat-(for sale) but just never got along with it.
Awesome! You won't regret it!
You're a legend Brett! Always wondered what that tele was... the colour makes me want to refin my sunburst. That milk streaming was bloody brutal though lol. I look foward to your series on latte art.
Haha! Thanks for checking it out!
Always like your tone and feel, Brett! Pinky is my favorite guitar of yours. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Love that guitar! So good!
Just checked out the prices of those beautiful Nash guitars and discovered your wife really loves you, you lucky man.
Lol! It's old they were cheaper then but yes she does love me haha! The red one was a gift from my old boss I guess I'm a lucky guy!

Thanks man! Thanks for being one of them!
Not seeing that fridge close all the way has me concerned. 🤣
Haha! I am good about that but not when trying to do a bunch of video clips fast haha!
love your channel, love my Nash T2HB (tele with lollar's p90 and hbucker)
What!?! He makes one like that!?! I'm in lol!
You know you’re filthy rich when making coffee is a process you can afford to take the time to make 😂. Should go without saying, but it’s bizarro world now, but in my world saying someone is doing well isn’t an insult so don’t take it that way I’m just joking. But I’ve commented so many times on that damn red tele and haven’t had the chance to get a Nash, so I grabbed a Fiesta Red 60’s Vintera II Telecaster and put the vintage/special set in it. It’s freaking GLORIOUS! I’ve become a Tele guy the last 5 years or so and I can’t get enough. Really wish I hadn’t rewatched this (I wanted to see your saddles, and I have more questions 😂 are those brass wrapped in steel or is that just how they tarnished??) because I just got a Gretsch Electeomatic Jet 2 P90 single cut and love the pickups after a bunch of adjusting, but now you have the Lollar’s calling me again 😂
I got a good gig that is for sure! Teles are the best! Sounds like you got a good thing going as well!
@@BrettPapa no, I just have poor spending habits and don’t mind Ramen 😂. I’m glad you took that as a joke, sometimes my sarcasm makes me look like an asshole lol. BUT, I am happy with the Vintera II with the Lollar pickups (vintage and special like the Nash guitars) and those pickups make really good guitar freaking glorious! I think you’re the first I ever heard about them from, and now you have me looking at their damn p90’s for my other guitar, the Electromatic Jet 2. The pickups will cost more than the guitar, but damn it’s a great guitar so why the hell not, I don’t have no stinking keeds 😂
Your tone always sound killer
Thanks!
Those guitars are georgeous man, they have all the mojo you can have, love your content btw!
Thanks for checking out the vids!
My 1974 les paul custom not only has no clear coat but the neck is sanded thin. No collector value but I have never played les paul nicer.
Yeah I love no finish on the back of necks too. Makes them feel so much better.
Yeah I’m totally gonna steal your volume tone setup on my strat. The volume knob is totally in my way for palm muting.
Do it!
Coconut milk latte. nice 👍 love the guitars too!
Thanks!
Can you provide the info for the guitar tech that installed your humbucker and removed the tone pot? Thank you!
No he is kinda a private guy. But I am sure any good tech can do it.
Love seeing that pink strat! It looks like you have the bridge decked. Are you running with 4 or 5 springs?
Also, when you use the trem, do you encounter that typical strat problem of the strings coming up a little sharp after diving/using the trem?
I think I only have 2 springs in there. I have that bridge on the deck. I need to float one of my Strats though because I love that sound.
I live out in LA and Mesa boogie Hollywood is the only place that I've seen that is an actual Nash dealer and they actually spec out the guitars themselves and their amazing! unfortunately I can't afford one... lol
Haha! I hear that. They are worth saving your money to get one!
Really great fun video Brett thanks for sharing this information!
I would like to know more about your recording setup and like why not just record live with camera mic!
Sure thing! Yeah I may do a whole studio tour soon!
I'm just here because I think Brett Papa is frickin' awesome and I think that shell pink Nash Strat is absolutely frickin' awesome, too. ;)
Haha, thanks!
@@BrettPapa In all seriousness, I do love that Nash. Great tone and great look. Hey, coming up on 200k!
Hey Brett, whats the difference between having the Humbucker on an Angle compared to straight ?
You know I am not sure but it makes a difference lol!
Nice coaster for your coffee! Livin on the edge
Always lol!
Magical coffee machine 💚💚💚
For sure!
Why were there grains of coffee in your espresso? Did you add something to it before adding the steamed milk?
P.S. I just bought a Nash s63 and I LOVE it! 😂
Cinnamon probably lol. Nash guitars are amazing!!
Thank you your posting .your pink guitar sounds really best
Thanks!
Is that strat neck fender usa. You didn't say
hi, on the beautiful strat: volume pot 500k? tone pot 250k? thanks. greetings from Italy
Great question! Not sure. I'll ask my guy and find out.
I watched your Video hosting Pete Thorn. Awesome! You looked totally giddy. Looking forward to the day you break down and show up with a Suhr Standard Pro guitar.
Haha maybe some day. I'd take one of their 68 heads for sure!!
I am with you on the no finish on the neck and lighter strings. I can’t believe I played heavy strings for so many years. Kept me from playing to my potential
Yep for sure. Why fight it.
Are you using 10’s now?
Any recommendations would be helpful, thanks papa!!
Mesa Boogie in Hollywood has a good quiver of Nash guitars. Along with some killer Amps.🤘🏾🎸🔥
Yep for sure!
Always , always enjoy your videos . Cant go wrong with Ford Thurston or Gutherie Trapp in my opinion . Actually I really enjoy just learning stuff from you ! Thx
Thanks! They are both coming in soon!
Papastache!!! This is a bit off-topic. I have been a fan since the beginning of the lockdown. I really enjoy watching your show. I've played since I was a kid but took a very long hyades. About 20 years... LOL... But I've learned some songs on youtube. I live in Puerto Rico. I grew up in LA. It's a bit tuff right now to get lessons and sometimes while on youtube a get a bit overwhelmed. I am willing to pay for lessons. What the best way for me to learn. I really am starting to like a lot of bluegrass stuff and country swing like Jimmy Bryant. I don't think there is a lot of teachers out here in PR who are into that style. PLEASE ADVISE!!! Thank you again for your shows there really cool and informative.
Guthrie Trapp has an Artist Works course that is great if you like that sort of a style.
@@BrettPapa AWESOME!! THANKS!!!
Killer Vintage in St. Louis stocks Nash tele’s and strats. I have 5 and am going to Stratocasters anonymous every week. Bill’s a cool dude too. Love your channel
Awesome! I've heard that is a great store. Thanks for checking out the videos!
I have a Friedman vintage T and its got P90’s. It is my favorite guitar I have ever owned. You make me want a Nash strat really bad, but I do feel like a traitor to Friedman because they make a strat too lol.
Both are great. I played a Friedman Tele with a tele pickup in the bridge and a P90 in the neck a while back at a NAMM so and it was hands down one of the best tele's I have ever heard or played. Grover makes fantastic guitars!
Carter Vintage in Nashville also has super selection of Nash S models and T models.
Yes its true they do have some good ones!
Always love hearing about special guitars. Derek Wells and Guthrie Trapp would always be great to have on.
Will do! Haven't talked to Derek in a bit but it gives me a reason to call him lol!
Just thought of another great one to have on. Tom Bukovac.
Agreed!
GT and all you cats are super people
Thanks! More coming soon!
Hay Papa, I love to hear you play man! Some live shredding would be killer.
Thanks! Livestreams coming soon! Maybe there will be some shredding lol!
Setting the Coffee on the laptop?!?!? lol
Living on the edge lol!
Dude! I'm coming to your place for coffee!
Haha! Sounds good!
Good morning Brett just wondering if you were familar with the Nash Wayfarer?
No not at the moment. What is it?
I'm an old guy at this point in my life and I don't mean to make a silly/stupid comment, but I'm going for it anyway. I doubt if Papastache/Bret smokes, or even drinks a beer, but because of his infectious laugh and cool vibe, I can easily see him being with me and the boys back in the day getting high on some Columbian (not coffee) and other things. That's all.
Haha!
@@BrettPapa Thanks Bret. My comment was only meant as a compliment. As for me, I gave that stuff up a long, long time ago. I believe in God. That, music and playing my guitar is all I need. If I can't play guitar, I'm ready to go.
Sounds great 👍🏻
Thanks!
Lots of Nash Guitars on Reverb. I've owned two. Down to one now. They also put "Nash Guitars" on their headstocks now.
Yep. I saw that.
All these years watching your videos I just thought your Strat was white but dirty after years of playing. Also CME is my favorite guitar shop hands down and I only live 35 miles away so I am blessed and cursed.
Haha that is a blessing and a curse!
Good stuff man, enjoyed it!!
Awesome! Thanks!
Hey Bret I love your channel. Always great content. I would love if you make more lessons of licks with more backing tracks. And also the mug should say in one side "Yeahahaha" and the other side welcome welcome welcome! :)
Ahhh, both great ideas.
Just dropped my s63 off to have a JB’jr put in the bridge- got Lollars in there now, but that bridge p/u is just a little too ‘grading and bright to my ear- looking for a little fully sound-🤞🏼
Also doing the repositioning of the volume too- master vol and tone - 2 knobs get that top one out of the way
‘fuller’
Hi. I bought a Nash S63 based on your Video and it’s wonderful. Did your guitar tech route the body to fit the humbucker in? It’s at a slight angle and I have never seen that on a Nash. Thanks and have a great 2021!
Awesome!! Yeah a buddy of mine routed it out for me. It is at the angle that the single coil is on. We just plopped the hum bucker down and traced around it. I didn't want to cut out any more wood to make it straight. I have considered having Nash make a bunch of them for me because I have had so many people request them. Have a great 2021 as well! Thanks for watching!
Cool vid Papa! Your style, playing and teaching are inspiring. Thanks for sharing. Thank fcuk you play the gat better than you make coffee - bro!
Lol!
I was wondering when you were going to do some live streaming , bout time
Took forever to get a streaming box!!
Guitar Sofa in Hong Kong is a Nash dealer. I played it there
I will not rest until there is a Les Paul in your hands!!!!
I am open to gifts!
I just got G&L classic Bluesboy. LOVE it... blow fender away ! have ya ever rode one of those ?
Yeah they make great stuff!
Trapp is stupid good. Just another level cat. I took a lesson with him and he blew them doors off.
For sure!!
Love my old Nash tele
I currently have a 72 squier vmdeluxe and love blues and rock and roll so where would it be best to place a p90 and what brand or type would you recommend
amazing tone, great work
Nash guitars are great. I’m playing a Kelton Swade tele I think it has vintage dimarzios in it. Very similar sounding to the Nash tele, but with a maple neck.
Awesome! I love Dimarzio's. They are my favorite pickups other than Lollar's.
I hear you loud and clear about that Strat volume knob placement ... it couldn't be worse. But I've used that to motivate me to float my picking hand more and it's paying really fast. So maybe it's ok there after all? I checked CME after you gassed me for another Tele. The necks are all 0.83" which is too skinny. Do you have to custom order to get a vintage neck with Nash?
Hmmm thats a good way to look at it. I would call CME and see if they can order you one that way.
Hey! That’s a very nice strat! I noticed in some new vids you got a switch installed in that empty hole of ex volume knob. May I know please what does it do? Is it a kill switch or on/off switch or Gilmour mod or something else? Thank you!
Thanks! No I just hate where the volume knobs are on Strats so I just move it. Not much of a tone knob guy so I don't mind just having one.
Love your videos and content papa. Would you recommend Nash over a Fender Custom Shop? I live in England and desperate to try one out, thinking of taking the plunge anyway without being able to try before I buy
Yeah especially for the cost. Don't get me wrong custom shop stuff is great especially these days but you are gonna pay big. Nash guitars are very consistent and play great and are a great bang for the buck option.
I want to keep one of my widerange pickups and replace the other with a p90
enjoy the videos very much. just jumped on yearly subscription and highly recommend to others. curious what electric guitar you recommend for someone that has played mostly acoustic and now learning scales, improvising, etc. Strat. Tele. Les Paul. I have an older 335 now and looking for something that sounds great with different kinds of music. blues, rock, mainly. I looked at Nash a bit after watching this. volume knob. heyhey.. thanks Brett.
Awesome! Thanks for the support! I'd say a Tele or a Strat. Nash guitars are never a bad way to go!
BwaaaaHaaaaa!!!! Damnit STACHE... Friggin hilarious man “Forgot a word...”
Haha!
Great video man, very interesting to hear about your guitars man, very good stories. I did not know you had changed the bridge pickup in your Strat, dude the Tele is awesome too, which model is it? Is it the T57 or the 63? I am totally digging that guitar, and also my favorite Tele I have ever heard was a P90 Tele into a Tophat Emplexador, WHOA!!!
Thanks! It's a 60's tele. That sounds like an awesome rig!
I also tend to play lead and rhythm so not for sure what will give it that growl
Dude, your guitars and tones are amazing ! Yes, I'd like a vid on the amps and settings :) also other guitars.
When I showed your tone to a buddy he said: Heavy strings and high action,....LOL turned out the oposite.
Greets from Holland !!
Thanks! Vid on the amps is coming soon! Thanks for watching!
Really dislike the Nash relicking. Glad to see they came to their senses and now offer a barely damaged guitar.
Haha! Not for everyone. I usually just buy guitars for the sound. If its beat up I don't mind I'll worry about it less that way lol!
