The beach test was kind of funny to me. I worked on shrimp trawlers in the 70s and we pulled up a flashlight that had barnacles growing on it. It was a green military light and it still worked. Turned it on and it lit up but was dim. Cleaned it up and worked like new. This was just south of Ponce Inlet about 70 feet deep. The lens was scratched up pretty bad from rolling around on the bottom and being pulled up in our net couldn't have been easy on it. Just some rambling.
Could always just throw it in a Magpul Light mount for 30 bucks. I run one of my old Fenix lights in one and it works just fine. It comes in left or right pic rail attachment, but I just run it on the top rail and it drapes canted on the opposite side of the designed orientation almost like cloud defensive OWL but i'm using the tail-cap to actuate. But if you did that with the Sig it would put it in the $150ish total price point.
I went coyote hunting with a buddy a couple weekends ago and we pulled out our flashlights to try and find a coyote that we had put on the ground. His light was INSANE compared to mine. You should look into the Nitecore EDC27 and do a review on it. Its $90, 3000 lumens, and it impressed me so much I bought one for myself. It turned night into day and reached 200 yards out easily.
Olights give you more lumens for cheaper, but you really need candela. The cloud mch is the best balance of candela/lumen. 80k candela and 1200 lumens. Best hunting light on the market. People will say modlite are better but the white light doesn't cut through fog/moisture as well as the more balanced color of the CD
I only use SF and Streamlight, but this is the first light from another brand that has gotten my attention. I actually like that its high-only. I don't use my EDC for anything administrative, and if I need a low/diffuse beam, I just point the light at my shirt and let it reflect off.
Yeah it would make a good defensive light, but my EDC light flexes as a daily light for multiple uses, so it’s not great for other uses. Good to have other options tho
Yes, the single output level is nice...kinda retro in a way. And seriously, two is one and one is none. This is a common phrase over on CPF but it really should be taken to heart by anyone who carries concealed or carries for work. Heck just in general around the house type stuff. I have one 18350 sized light that outputs around 500 lumens. It has one mode, on or off. I also carry an Olight Warrior mini 3 right along with it. The Olight is my "administrative res-err..lighting tasks" light. Sometimes I even carry an additional AA sized or keyfob type light for movie theaters although the Warrior mini has a moonlight mode.
You could just carry a keychain light, then you have your phone, and additionally you can carry something like the Goonbeam EDC V1/V2/v3 and program it to your preferences (everything from a lightsaber to an EDC task light). I would love to have the Surefire EDC 1 DFT Turbo, but I'm not in the postion to spend that much.
I agree, I'd love to see an weapon mounted version, however it'd be pretty directly competing with the new Streamlight HLX Pro, which has a solid track record and comes with basically every accessory you need.
@@Mrgunsngear most people want to know the MSRP before they commit to a 16 minute review. I watched a couple minutes and you had not mentioned the MSRP, so I googled it.
I run the Fenix PD36r Pro for work, my opinion one of the better options. The 5 options of brightness from moonlight mode to turbo maxing at 2800 with a good focused beam. Definitely works well for waking up homeless trespassers.
The scalloped bezel on lights are ok. I doubt that if you absolutely had to strike someone that they would care if it was scalloped or smooth, a full power strike to the head or face is going to smash something. Just a guess, I've never had to do it.
I only use Olight and just purchased the Warrior X4 which is an awesome light but as has been said the Sig has my attention. I’d like to see a comparison between those two. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your reviews. Thanks much!
I don't *only* use Olight, but they make some damn good lights. I'm a really big fan of Thrunite as well. As for Olight, It may seem kind of gimmicky but, I really like the Odin and Odin Minis in my rifles. I like that it has mlok or Pic mounting option, sits pretty low profile and has a nice pressure pad, while being able to quickly take the light off and use it as a hand light.
Here's the thing about Olight, I've had to send in Olights for repair. Their customer service is very good, you will here that from lots of Olight guys. I have three times as many Streamlights as Olights. I have no idea what Streamlights customer service is like, because I've never needed it. Take that for what it's worth.
I know it is expensive, but if you can get one or if you already have one, I would be interested in your opinion on the CMMG Dissent in the 7.62x39.
