The future seems to be geared towards self directed learning, I mean if Google are doing it, surely others will follow soon, great video Alex
I definitely agree - Google has a way of entering a market and changing things up so we will see how this changes things!
Thank God... and Google! I spent my whole life hearing people calling me weirdo because I used to skip classes to learn on my own. XD
Google courses are horrible. They just reading text
Do we get the certificate by completing all courses by monthly subscription and passing the assessment? Or do we have to pay separate fee for the final project/assessment inorder to obtain the certificate (that's sharable on linkedin)? If so, how much?
Please clarify. Thanks.

Definitely agree!
I want to start this course as well! Excited!!
Hi , is it available in the UK tho ?
Started this program 3 hours ago. About to finish the 1st course. Going to try and get this cert done in less than a month lol.
@@GoldPeakLLC holy smokes! Ambitious lol
Hold on 240 after only 6 months compared to going to a university or community college that's a steal!
I’m 30 years old and I’m a school maths teacher. I’ve started this course 3 days ago and it’s amazing. I hope it will help me to start a new career in the future!!!
That's great! Good luck!
Hello.....I have a question. Do I have access to the course after completion?
Any updates? have you finished? got a job as da?
Can this course be an added advantage of I'm applying for MS in big data analytics?
Hi. Yes, I’ve finished this course. I think this course alone is not gonna be enough to start working as a data analyst. I’m starting a new job in September not as a data analyst but I will be working with data. This training really helped me at the interview. I’m planning to take more data analyst courses in the future.
Alex , I mean it when I say that - there isn’t any better data analyst on UA-cam than you . The way you explain things , they surely leave an impact . More success to you mate !!
Thank you so much for saying that - so glad you're enjoying the channel!
I for one am elated that the course is in R. R is great and this will increase usage in the data community for the better.
Wow what a phenomenal video! Stumbled across this while researching the topic. Great overview of this certificate. I do think that google certs are changing the game and they are only going to get better as network effects start to build.
Can't wait to start! Alex, I need to put in words how happy I am since I found your channel. I was quite lost but now I'm in peace. I wanna work with data and your videos are helping me a lot.
So glad to hear that Beatriz!

Hey, It's been 6 months, how did everything go with the course?
I absolutely loved this course. I am 2 months in and almost finished. I’ve just started the 8th module today, Complete a Case Study. It’s a bit overwhelming and there’s not much guidance as to how to best utilize the skills I’ve learned so far. I suppose that’s part of the “self-learning” aspect of the program though. I’m very glad I found your channel, I have a feeling It will soon become one of my favorites.
Were you able to find a job after course completion?
I find it scared self learning because I become demoralised when I hit a block and I can't get a quick solution or explanation especially during tasks.
I am doing the program right now. Love the 1st course. It gives enough background of what Data Analytics is and the overall picture of it. I am glad they didn't go straight into technical content.
Just finished the first course in about 3 days and am so pumped to keep going! I was studying computer programming and decided analysis and analytics are muuuuch more exciting for me. I love all the quizzes and tests it gives you to make sure you’re paying attention and understanding the data
Hey Kelli nice one....how did it go...3 days is fast...
That was just course one… it went really smoothly! Still currently on course two I took a little bit of time with family
Congrats gal....keep grinding it’s going 2 💰 💰 ...
Did you get a certificate for the first course, or you need to finish all 8 of them to get a certificate?
What SQL language is taught? MySQL, T-SQL, PostgreSQL?
There’s a test-out feature at the end of the first module that lets you fast track your way through some of the content. This might help some folks save even more money if you’re already familiar with data analysis from other learning/job experience.
I didn’t know - that’s super cool! May take that myself 😁
Cool! Thanks for sharing
Do you know if every test cost extra or is it included on the 39$ per month? I can not find that info.
@@alvxd2264 it’s all included in the subscription price.

I think this is a really good one! But we will have to wait and see if it gets that popular haha 😁
I have been waiting for this course. Your video is really helpful for a fresh MSIS graduate like me navigating towards Data Analysis. It would be really helpful if you talk about the data retrieval process using SQL in the industry.

I took this course and completed it within 4 weeks (Dec-Jan) which is an absolute steal, having to pay for just a month. The course is very beginner friendly and I like that Google put a lot of effort in teaching the non technical aspect of data analytics also which will come in handy in landing a job and on the job as well. Thanks Alex for all you do.
Good luck. I finished that course about a month ago but the market is so flooded with people looking for jobs.... It's been tough. I haven't found anything yet. I don't know anyone either so having a friend to help hasn't been an option.
You completed the full course and the capstone project in four weeks? Great but that suggests you are not a beginner but have prior training.
@@jrodriguezquiros I am an absolute beginner. I am a masters student so I took the course during my holiday period. That means I had ample time on my hands to go 6-8 hours a day. Some people have busy schedule so of course it’d take them longer.
@@candacedillon97 Hi Candace, sorry to hear that. Have you tried freelance projects, personal projects using public data? Also, try to work on making connections on Twitter and LinkedIn, like talk about your projects, join tech conversations and you’ll be able to meet people already working and you never know who might have an opportunity for you. You can’t make it being in silo in tech industry, visibility matters so use your social media platforms to get yourself noticed and connect with people. Good luck
@@abdullahimusa7417 great to read that! How was your experience with the capstone case study? I am currently in that part, with case study 1 on Cyclistic bike share. It’s been quite a challenge given the datasets are very large. In the discussion forum there’s a lot of people complaining because of the dataset sizes do not allow them to use Excel or even BigQuery despite there are specific questions in the roadmap guide related to using those tools. I have opted for using R for the whole case study. Please share your experience. Thanks!
Thanks for the review and I agree-this course looks pretty awesome. My one caveat is it seems a bit much to expect a beginner with no experience to learn R, SQL and Tableau AND do all that's necessary to complete the course in under 6 months. Google may put universities out of business with these courses. Higher education needs a shake up. This could be it.
Actually, I was a beginner when I started this course. I knew a little about spread sheets but I learned that in high school. I have been trucking for 14 years since then though. The course was quite easy but there's no way I'll land a job in this field. It's saturated with applicants and a Google certificate isn't enough. Maybe if you know someone and they can help you get a job, it might be enough but for someone like me, you'll never get hired. Don't get your hopes up like I did.
@@candacedillon97 you are right and wrong - This cert is to prove to you, the learner , that you can become a Data analyst. You don’t need to enroll in an expensive university to try out a new career field anymore . If you went through this cert , and passed , then you should 100% get your degree in data analytics
I'm super excited to get Alex's take on the course when he's done ...
I was very on the fence about taking this course. This video and looking at the syllabus really convinced me. Thank you Alex!
Thanks Alex. I got to know this course thanks to your recommendation in another video. It seems to be a well-structured course and doesn't require any specific IT or math background knowledge. One thing I would recommend is that you can actually audit the course, do the ungraded quizzes, then pay to complete the graded assignments. You can do this to study for as long as you want and pay very little as well. I personally prefer to go through and digest every small details so completing this course in 6 months seems like a good option for me. Trying to complete it quickly can be counter productive.
Could you please tell me how you can audit the course ?
@@mr.frenchii8973 Hi. I'm sorry I didn't get notification for your comment. When you go to a course, click the Enroll for free button. It will ask you if you want a 7-day trial but look at the bottom of that window instead and you'll find the option to "Audit the course." It's really small but it should be there.
Remember you can only audit a course and not the entire program. For example, in the Google DA certificate, if you enroll for the certificate, you won't find the audit option. You need to go to the specific course, for example "Foundations: Data, data, everywhere", then enroll into that course to have the audit option available.
Thanks for the great video. Coupled with all the amazing comments I've been reading, this has helped me decide to take the path towards something new. Which I've been struggling with as a 39 yr old. Appreciate you. Cheers.

A portfolio, even an academic one, would show that you are familiar with certain tools. Employers care more about tools than methodology. Methodology is also important but tools come first.
Best of luck to you. I hope the job market is better.
Also look into going organizations. Networking will land you job faster than others.
@@suprcompsci I saw somewhere that mis has become the basic business management degree of the 21st century but also are a master in mis is the combination of the mba and the Ms in computer science so idk what to beleive. I do know based on job applications very few jobs put mis in degree requirements. most people want computer science or "equivalent" which means engineering or math. and for business roles they just want finance economics or accounting degrees not mis.
i just finished the whole courses. it's a great program for people starting out in the field. as a beginner like myself, to finish it in 15 days is quite exhausting. but it was great experience. there are very valuable resources for jobseekers at the end.

Completion in 15 days!! You must be good! That gives me hope in being able to finish it before the end of July. I'm currently in the third course and plan to spend 20 or more hours a week on this course until completion.
