@@billstream1974 Did you see part 1 on my channel about the Agoge? It's not a deep dive in any way, but it does show the movie's take on the training. I don't think I know enough about the actual history to really do a deep dive on it that would do it justice. Thanks for watching.
"Μολὼν λαβέ"(molon lave), Leonidas said to the Persians in ancient Greek... Which means "come and get them"... This is a real battle and is written in our history...
Let's not get crazy on the history here. I think you put way to much importance on the little country of Greece and what they did which wasn't much. I think youmight want to stop getting your history from the movies. You know they kind of overexaggerate things. Greece did get it's ass kicked.
What are you talking about? All of western civilization is based on the accomplishments of the ancient Greeks. The Romans were directly and heavily influenced by the Greeks. And, by extension, all of Western civilization. We still use their alphabet today. And our government is based on the Greek and Roman governments. The ancient Greeks excelled at math, philosophy, and laid the foundations of cosmology, medicine, physics, and were amazing architects, and battlefield strategists. It is ridiculous to claim that what they did, "wasn't much". As for you last statement, again, what are you talking about? The Greeks won the Greco-Persian war.
Wtf? Go read some books brother. Learn about the Athenians (Greece before Greece). There’s so much lost from that time because it was so long ago. But the world would be entirely different if the Persians won. Our entire world, numbers, alphabet, government structure etc. would be so different. You can see how Greece (who influenced Rome) is in every fiber of this world to this day.
As a texan we kinda had something similar with the Alamo and our saying was "Come and take it" gotta respect men standing up even when they know they'll all die
Accordingly the first hail of arrows launched by the Persians had little effect on the Spartans. And the line "we will fight in the shade" was actually spoken.
@19:20 I read an article about the 6 week training regime the actors were on. they left their families and went to a bootcamp style training. While if it was used, the spray tan to accentuate the abs...the funny story is when the wives went to pick up their husbands at the airport...they didn't recognize them at first, such was the transformation.
I like how you are not just another clip farmer putting his head in the corner and nodding silently the entire time. You actually add some good historical context to what is going on. Bravo sir.
Thank you for this. I get SO annoyed with being cast into the category of "corner head nodder" and yes, I know exactly the type of videos and creators you are referring to. My idea is to add my reaction and commentary but without constantly interrupting the flow of the video, you interrupt too much, people complain understandably, you say nothing, you're a head nodder ripping off someone else's content. Moreover, the "creators" in question to whom you were referring to tend to just stitch together one reactor's scenes and then the next and over and over again and you get this constant repetition. I did one or two videos like that, but I don't like it. I put in the work to "blend" the reactions as to form a thematic progression of the short story I am focusing on. Nuances sadly lost on some over eager angry keyboard warriors although I do understand some of their irritation and hasty judgment. To all this I add my commentary and analysis and some memes here and there too that may go unnoticed or viewers might just assume it was the original reactors who put it in, but it wasn't. Anyway, thanks for noticing and drawing the distinction. It is really appreciated and means a lot.
Another line that was actually said was the line said by his wife, " only Spartan women give birth to real men." I am not sure who was the one that said it but it is a direct quote. Spartan women who died during child birth and soldiers who died in battle were the only ones to have marked headstones on thier grave.
As a Greek I must say when Persians cane ashore to invade our homeland it was their mistake. Also Spartans had armor and red cloth around them giving them the nickname till nowadays the Red death. Also another fact spartan phalanx march forward with a sound of a flute that's why they are also called Silemt death. As why red cloth because the enemy that had the bad luck to fight against Spartans they wouldn't know if the spartan I wounded or not.
The Persians tell a different story from what is told by Greece and the West. Judging from how de ceit ful the West have proven to be, I take history told by Wes tern historians with a grain of salt

Just wanted to make it clear to anyone that doesn’t know. Kings would join in most battles some directly some staying out of the fight but on the battlefield. We hold our presidents and politicians to a minimum standard compared to our ancestors. Our leaders used to lead us into battle now they send us to die while they get rich off our backs.
True, I think the idea of the King leading the charge fell out of use because the Kings kept dying especially as ranged weapons became more and more accurate. One main difference about today's politicians is that, unlike the Kings of old, these people are elected by us. They say in a true democracy you always get the leader you deserve, because the majority voted for him/her. If this is true and we still have crappy leaders, is that not a reflection upon us as well?
@ agreed.. if there was only one thing I could change about our government. It would be if our politicians want to send us to war they have to go with us. I served from 2001-2013 as a marine infantryman I was all in on the wars. But my wife wasn’t so I got out. After getting out and slowly learning about the real driving force behind the wars it made sick. It was all about $ fukin dick Cheney the vp also the head of Halliburton. So we should not judge the Spartans too harshly, the ancient Greeks did a lot for the world we have today. My next video will be on Troy (Some of the ancestors of the Romans). Stay tuned.

Some people will talk at the tv, but mostly they are playing up for the camera. It's part of the job and what most viewers expect. I see it as exaggerated or amplified reactions, but not fake.
Oh dont forget ...in the Bible ( The Book of Esther )... Xerxes is mentioned as a good and kindly King...but history shows...eh ...not so much...though its a good story and even has a fairly decent movie of it...but as a completely non religious person its another sign its just a book of fiction like any other so called holy text...
I think the phrase: "One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" could be applied here with some modification. Xerxes was a good and kindly king in the minds of his subjects and wife perhaps. So, "One man's good and kindly king is another man's tyrant" would be the modified version. They wrote it from their own perspective. I think Eshter was married to Xerxes or his father or something.
The Persians back then was not near as "racist" as the Athenians. The people of Persia where able to have whatever religion they wanted. The Persians didn't look anything like these guys, because they wherent Muslims at all, because the Religion/Cult of Islam didn't exist in 480 bc when all this happened. The Persians where way more "open" than we in the west... I know that this will not sit well in western eyes, because we want them to be the villains every time. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦💪🇫🇮🙏
i find it hillarious that someone is doing a reaction to this and correcting the movie. this film isnt a documentary, its made for entertainment so the historical accuracy doesnt have to be in point..
Yes, I understand it's just a movie based on a graphic novel, sort of based on something that happened more than 2500 years ago and not historically accurate. Wasn't trashing the movie in any way, shape or form either. LOVE THE MOVIE , in case I need to make it painfully obvious to some. Thank you for your insights.

Do people today really talk at their TVs and get this excited and easily amused? Or are these people just playing it up for the camera?
When real men existed.
If.
Here comes the armchair historians...oh wait, too late
lol
You don’t get movies like this because of the woke feminist bs

Prosthetic sales boom in Persia after this little skirmish!
🤣🤣🤣
The Persians back then was not near as "racist" as the Athenians. The people of Persia where able to have whatever religion they wanted.
The Persians didn't look anything like these guys, because they wherent Muslims at all, because the Religion/Cult of Islam didn't exist in 480 bc when all this happened.
The Persians where way more "open" than we in the west... I know that this will not sit well in western eyes, because we want them to be the villains every time.
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦💪🇫🇮🙏
Asia is funny as he'll in this reaction
I love the way she laughs and she also has some good zingers.
i find it hillarious that someone is doing a reaction to this and correcting the movie. this film isnt a documentary, its made for entertainment so the historical accuracy doesnt have to be in point..
🤪THAT'S CRAZY!
Three Hundred Vs
One Million....!
¡Of Course, THEY ALL Die & In a GLORIOUS DEATH!

All these men was founded by AI, so their muscles was made by computers for the first time in History
I heard they went on a training camp
Not so, these actors went to boot camp for at least 12 week of training, so much so, that when they returned from the training many of their partners didn't recognise them, they were so ripped 🤣🤣🤣
