Are you a hoarder or do you have hoarding tendencies? Here are tips and strategies to unpack the reasons why you may be keeping things that no longer serve you. ua-cam.com/play/PLh1fKdNH3piRf92YFtLwvJdbtWFkeReoC.html
I've been taking a box to Goodwill once a week for quite a while and finally I can see if the difference in my house and I can see empty spaces. I love the concept of feeling like your blessing others. I am going into a house today to clean that has a lot of clutter and I am going to plant the seed that donating could be a blessing to others.👍🎉
Yes, there are so many people still in need. And if our lives have been blessed in a way that provides us surplus - passing it on is the way to keep the wheel of blessings flowing. Be a miracle today! Great philosophy. Thanks for sharing this. 🙏
I think it’s important to remember that not only does it take a village to raise a child, but it takes a village to be a human! We always need each other to get to the top! We just take turns helping each other up- hopefully anyway 🤪💜
This is a great project! “Do not wait; the time will never be ‘’just right.” Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” ~ Napoleon Hill
My Mountain is Mt. Everest!! I have several scary rooms. I have been tackling a little at a time but still have a ways to go. Your series is helping inspire me!!
You are amazing! I feel so much better. You have equipped me to kill the monsters lurking in the dark corners that I was afraid to face. I am now armed with knowledge, hope, courage and determination disguised as spray bottles, sponges and brushes and rags! Thank you Angela!
Another excellent video!! We recently found a company that will come to your home and take anything and everything. They do all the sorting and donating to the proper places. It was a small price to pay for all that help! Our puppy gates got donated back to the rescue where we adopted our puppy! We have never done garage sales because we remember when everything we had came from thrift stores. Be blessed and be a blessing I always say! 😊❤❤❤
What a great idea. I didn't realize that the puppy gates could be donated back to the rescue. What a fantastic idea. Also thanks for the tips about the donation services. We are putting together a resource page like that now so others can utilize these services. Thanks for sharing this. I am proud of you. ❤❤❤
@@AskAngelaBrown Yes! Check with the rescue first for instructions! The donation companies don't always accept everything, but we found a local one that accepted the good, bad, and the ugly all together. They will even clean closets and garages for you. These tasks get overwhelming for people and it is sometimes worth the money to get the job done. We are also proud of you for starting this group. So many of us struggle with this! I hope people find it liberating! ❤
Angela, I love your energy!! I have been listening to your "hoarding" UA-cam videos while cleaning out our master bedroom closet. Thank you for giving me the motivation to FINALLY tackle this job! I stopped putting things in there for lack of room and instead was piling stuff in our bedroom. But then it was too hard to clean the bedroom and made more work for me. Thanks to your motivation, I am bagging up the stuff on the closet floor and donating it to GoodWill. I am not a hoarder, but over the years I have accumulated too much stuff. I was surprised to see all that I had in that closet. I am just clearing out the floor today, lugging the bag of stuff to our front porch, and vacuuming the area. I will be more motivated to start on all the clothes packed on the racks and up on the shelves, once I can actually walk in there!
I am so glad the strategies are working for you. I’m so proud of all you’ve accomplished. Keep up the good work and let me know what other decluttering projects you tackle : )
Wow! You really have the skill to encourage!! I was wrap in your words, feeling your ideas!!! Thats a thing!!! And your point of view its great for people, so positive and reassuring. I wish I found you before, I used to have my scary closets but I was feeling so angry about it I had to made something and I did. It took me two years. But I did it furious and sad because was unsure and had no method. Later I realized stuff was controlling me and not the way around. And that thought helped me a lot. But like said, wish to find you earlier!
Thanks for the 'scary room' title. I had dubbed my clutter room as my faux attic since I don't have attic storage. Now, it is my 'scary faux attic' and will be my first scary spot to tackle. I say first because I have a few scary corners in other rooms.
Very clever analogy! I have recently purged my house donating boxes upon boxes of stuff and furniture. I wish I had at least taken pics of the boxes before they left the house. However, I must say that every morning that I wake up and every evening I come home from work, I’m rewarded for my efforts by my clean, uncluttered house!!! I even ENJOY cleaning now because it’s so easy!
I love this story. If every time you walk into your home you get this overwhelming feeling of "OH WOW!" And it's a good "Oh Wow" it brings a feeling of joy, peace, and personal achievement. Hats off and high five for a job well done. I'm so proud of you. 👏👏👏
What a great idea, Angela. I have been donating for at least seven years now and I have donated at least 60% of my belongings. I wish I had had a group like this. I had so many of those loads of stuff and had many of those receipts. Kudos to you, Angela, for encouraging others and all you share on your videos.
Stuff is a tough one because it's not like an alcoholic avoiding bars or the wine aisle at the grocery store. Stuff is needed in our homes and will always be needed. The secret is not "swearing off" stuff, or stores but learning to create a healthy balance with the stuff we have so that every item we have is consciously in our homes and lives for a reason that supports us.
Angela, you are just awesome! You come up with such great analogies in all your videos. At the moment I have a scary house and difficult for me to tackle it. I think it is my mental state too which makes it difficult for me to continue getting rid of stuff. I have sold quite a bit on eBay but there are some items that I hold on to. We are going to have a city-wide garage sale in September and I will leave all the things outside my garage for people to take. I hope that will help me get rid of most of the stuff.
Hi Esther, do you know about the following services that offer free pick up? You can call and set your items outside your door. Some will take them right out of your storage unit. You will have to decide in advance which items to keep and which ones they can take. That way they are not waiting on you to decide. I am not far off decluttered now, my top idea of this month is be careful to maintain what you have done, while carrying on with the decluttering. we needed to buy a fold up guest bed, we had talked about it before but now have to do it for house repairs, so something had to be done to maintain what i had done in that room, so a quite big table was chosen to go, as it was being used as a tabletop only, so the fold up bed has a headboard top that can be used as the same, so that is going there with a tablecloth on, i got from someone else the idea of choosing as many things as you can that have a dual purpose, so that is a tabletop and a spare bed.
@@AskAngelaBrown I absolutely love your channel and the content you post. You make a lot a lot sense to your business model approaches. Enjoy your day.
I think that is a great idea.i try to reuse items which are not up to par to donate takes a bit longer to get rid of the pile and some stores here have become super super picky what they accept but I will donate online.
LOL. Shhh, don't tell but most EVERYBODY has a scary room or a storage unit, or a closet packed with goodies and they have no idea what's actually in there. We are all in this together. :-)
“That’s the scary room!” … I once told the plumber “don’t go in this room is haunted!”, he really thought I meant it and almost refused to unclog the bathroom sink! It was the spare room that was used as our dump zone.
U inspired me to clean out my closet. I c on utube that people take everything out first. Does that make sense? Or to work section by section or category like shoes and handbags. Thanks
Hi Sandra, whatever works best for you. I'm a "take one type of item out" at a time. This way I can quickly sort, scale down and organize what is left of one item. The rest of my closet is still intact and I haven't made a mess. You have to do what works with your personality. If I made a big pile, I would just overwhelm myself. LOL. :-)
Thanks Angie. I love your idea. I hate a mess in my bedroom. Your idea mote time efficient. Going back and forth is crazy. I feel touching 1 item at a time and making donation throw away. Works for my personality
Literally on today's to do list: delete data on old iMac computer for recycling...Apple will offer rebates on the return of working electronics, take bags of confidential papers to secure shredding service (I don't want to burn up my little home office shredder), and boxing up donations for delivery tomorrow morning. Whew. Decluttering is a daunting process...So I ask myself, How do you eat an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time. 😉
Hi Beth, I love this idea. When will it be? Have you done yard sales before? It sounds like a great way to move the good items you are no longer using to a new home and make a bit of money in the process. Keep me posted I'm here rooting for you. 👏👏👏
@@AskAngelaBrown I have never done a yard sale so it's intimidating to me.
