Just found four hot roller sets in storage. Seriously! One is needed. Keeping two for now and two of the oldest are being donated to some woman who may not be able to afford them and will love getting them. Several curling irons left recently too.
Brilliant - when decluttering and weighing the import of an item, it's often not the usefulness of the item, it's the ILLUSION of what that object will bring us; the hope and depth that object will bring to our lives. Like your example that the frosting tips will bring you dear time with your nieces. Brilliant.
Oh wow, that is so nice of you to say. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support and for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. I appreciate you. :-)
Oh, yes, you just reminded me that I went through all my cookie cutters (I had black plastic bag worth of them!) and passed on all but maybe a dozen of them, my very favorites. It's hard to declutter the 'fantasy self' stuff, but it's such a relief when you do.
Wow this is the first "how to declutter" video I've watched containing info. and presented in a way I could identify with it on a personal level. I could sense the possibility of making progress towards sending all the things I keep that are getting in the way of using the items I genuinely want to use and enjoy! Thank you I will watch other vids of yours soon. PS I took notes on your ideas.
Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm thrilled to hear that this video resonated with you on a personal level! Remember, taking small steps can lead to big changes😉
Great advice. I have many things in the hope category that I can just go ahead and sell. If I decide one day I want to work on that craft, I'll just repurchase what I need.
This is fantastic! I have so many things that I hope to use in my dreams, but reality is I don't use them. Great explanation to understand this, thank you ♥️
Even though I've started my own cleaning business now, I struggle with hanging on to things in my own home. My children and I have been homeless 3 times over the course of 13 years and we lost absolutely everything, each time. So now, we all want to hang on to things even though our life is a lot more secure/stable. It's as though we fear we will be left with nothing again. I'm able to help other people with this but we've yet to work through it completely. I'm just incredibly thankful that we are discovering more about ourselves and are moving in the right direction!
hi Liz, read your comment & praying you find security, strength & hope in Jesus. Definitely understand those fears. I was a single mom with a cleaning business & had to let go of our apartment & a lot of our things. It's so scary to be responsible for children with no other family to help. I will never forget those times, and it does affect us. God bless you & keep you & yours!
After what you've experinced, this is completley understandable. But you should only keep the things that you really need. If you feel like you are starting to get clutter, you might need a clutter corner. Check out this video: Clutter Corner - What is it and Do You Need One? ua-cam.com/video/bt_6AuHlF0s/v-deo.html
Hello Angela, I also made my own cake for my wedding because of the expenses and as I’m listening to you I am knitting crazy but yes that’s what I’m doing. There’s a lot of things I have that I should get rid of to like the cake pans I did give a lot away, I still have a few more to go I traveled far away to get them now they are in the local stores and they’re Wilton pans..💕NonnaGrace 🐓
Hello Nona! Thank you for sharing your wonderful wedding cake and knitting experiences with me. Making your own cake to save on expenses is impressive, and I'm delighted to hear that you're enjoying knitting as well. It's great that you've already given away some cake pans, and if you feel ready, you can consider donating or gifting the rest to fellow baking enthusiasts. Keep doing what you love, and I wish you all the best in your knitting and baking adventures. If you ever have more stories to share or questions to ask, feel free to reach out. Sending you love and warm wishes. 😊🤗
first of all: you're gold! i've been enjoying the last one hour or so sitting in the sunshine, listening to your videos whilst cutting my split ends. very relaxing and i really enjoy your content, your kindness and life experience. this one especially made me think as i hold on to a lot of things with exactly the thought of 'one day i'm gonna do all of this stuff i used to enjoy but right now i'm too depressed or too exhausted'. so maybe i should try to differentiate between false hope and real hope, though first i have to figure out how to do this 😁 hope this makes a little sense... if there are others out there feeling like me, i'd love to hear your thoughts. thank you so much for your videos!
I am so grateful you took the time to leave such a nice compliment. Thank you for sharing your feeling and thoughts on the topic hoarding. Sending you virtual hugs! 🤗

Great message! "Spark joy" works for me but I can see how someone with mild- to moderate hoarding issues would struggle to differentiate "sparks joy" and "I'm afraid to give this thing up because of the hope of what it represents". Throwing out all that crochet material is an admission that I'll never complete the many projects in my head. Ms. Brown is not a hoarder and even she has to take these steps mindfully. I can't imagine how hard this would be for people who are not instinctively tidy.
The photo of the guys with the VHS tapes made me laugh out loud! It made me realize that I need to donate the CD’s that I’ve been holding on to now that my music is streaming and I don’t even have a CD player. 😆
Many of us do this and then the things sit there for weeks, months and sometimes years without being used. If you don't think or find and immediate use, then to the donation pile it goes. Thanks for watching!
Oh dear! Half, if not more, of my stuff represents hope. I want to learn so many different crafts - crochet, sewing, painting - and I have lots of materials and tools, but I don't find the time to relax because I have so much clutter to deal with. I don't want to let go of this stuff because I think that a creative outlet will make me feel more calm and happy. I can't decide on one because decision making is not my forte, right now. So, I've just bought a new box unit and a desk to house this stuff, and I'm not looking to buy more. I'm putting them up tomorrow and hoping they will help. 🤞
Really good advice and relatable examples. I have got into the trap of trying to be resourceful, but the clutter and mess leaves me feeling disorganized and drained. Part of me thinks I'm saving things from landfill and I'll use them at some point (which does happen from time to time) but I wonder if I'm also not utilsing the items that are useful to me as fully because they get lost or damaged owing to the mess that surrounds them.
This is a good point. If you can trim down some of the clutter then you may find the useful items. I appreciate you reaching out. Keep me posted on how the decluttering is going. 👍
ikr the "joy sparking" thing was always terrible advice, because it's the whole reason people end up with out of control hoards in the first place. All the crap they have is held onto purely for emotional reasons and not because they are needed!
ahaha yes the cake thing, I had several different types of cake tins and stuff for cake decorating etc. yet we never eat cake lol we prefer savoury food

This playlist is a lifesaver. I’ve got my earbuds in listening to it while I’m cleaning and it is helping so much to help keep me motivated.❤️
This is one of, if not THE most real video I've ever seen on the subject.
Thank you so much for your feedback, I appreciate it!
Yes that is what I was trying to say.

I love that you decluttering for yourself and you helping others by donating things you don't use! That's so nice. 🙂

We hang onto things that represent a life we no longer live or no longer lived. Without asking “ is it a life I even want now?” Great video
Thanks so much Kurt!
I won't look at the picture of the stuff either! LOL. Thank you, Angela. You are such a sane, down to earth, and clear voice.
You are so welcome! Glad this video was helpful

Hahaha, hoarding for hope! I’m learning how to keep the memories and ditch the stuff. Thank you!
That's great! You are already steps ahead of the game. Kudos to you!!🙌
These are wonderful stories that you share. Thank you so much for letting us into a bit of your life.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful! Thank you! I also have a shuttle that I hold on to.

I think you missed your calling as a shrink! Thank-you!
But in a way, you're actually doing it. Organization is about the mind, isn't it?
Maybe I did! If I ever change careers I have something to look into. Thanks for watching!
I agree. This really helped.

Thanks ! Another great video...that decision stuff hard, because i like finding uses for things!

@@AskAngelaBrown new concept for me...
What an excellent example and explanation. Thank you
Glad you think so. Thank you so much, I appreciate it!

You can do it, I have faith in you.
Thanks for helping me "encreep" upon my boxes of stuff i don't need :D
Tom, Thanks for watching the show. Keep me posted on what you end up doing with the stuff in the boxes.

Yes, holding onto items purely for emotional reasons can definitely lead to clutter
Its hard to let go of your dreams...
That is true. But you can keep your dreams and still change your relationship with stuff.
ahaha yes the cake thing, I had several different types of cake tins and stuff for cake decorating etc. yet we never eat cake lol we prefer savoury food
I hear you!😄
Utilitarian items don't usually spark joy, example is my muck boots.
👍
I don’t even eat cake! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank for watching!
That was the saddest cleaning video I've ever seen! You made me cry. 😭😢
Sorry for that! But thank y o so much for watching the video!
