      yeah jerk. don't use other people as an armrest(object). it's just unkind.

    A few things:
    1 In the initial setup, she should be further away so there is no slack in the cable and her arms are pulled into full extension.
    2 He didn't mention and have her demonstrate full external rotation to hit the rear delts to the max. Hands should retract equal to the shoulders (or even further)
    3 Doing this in a kneeling position is not "beginner" in any sense of the word. I still do them on one knee.
    4 IMO, everyone should do kneeling facepulls. They are magic to the traps and rear delts. Squeeze the traps hard on every rep!

    I'm assuming the high positioning of the pulley alleviates the external rotators, but are the lateral delts still as targeted as with having the pulley at eye or head level and performing more external rotation? I assume not, but am I correct?

      It's not wrong. This variation is for upper back overall. You don't have to overly externally rotate just cuz Jeff caviler says it.
