    Apart of heating, another possible method is to measure voltage drops across the traces.
    When there are many caps on a rail the voltage drop on its say GND end in respect of the source GND will a tad higher than adjacent caps. The power source is better set in constant current mode for this method.

    Hi Jason, how many no fix repair per 100 phones you have? I have just broke up iphone SE and i am dissapointed. I repaired no touch, but after while no touch preblem began again, when i do the same repair again, mobile won t boot, and short was somewhere in CPU. Do you think it can be caused by static electricity or something else? Btw the short draws something around 0.5 A. Thanks for respond, love your videos :)

    i know exactly how you feel Jason..being in this business 17 years...i still have a good fix ratio but i7 are shit....just found out sth,...i removed the epoxy glue from between the BB and CPU and the funny thing is...if you put your tweezers on the edge of the CPU you can actually see it bouncing up and down which must put extreme pressure on the surrounding few rows on both IC's, its literally like an edge where the mainboard is most likely to bent,right between the 2 chips so i suppose thats where most of the problems will be

    I replaced my battery and earpeice on an iPhone 7. Used hair dryer to loosen glue moving around the phone as not to heat one spot up too much. I used ifixit tutorials to do the replacement. Put phone back together. The earpeice sounds better and the battery is good now, but now the home button doesn't work. Turned phone off and on several times. Did I kill my home button? Is there a way to get a screen with original home button and swap them out or is the home button programed to motherboard?

    • @ststele
      @ststele  5 років тому

      This is most likely a tear in the home button flex cable that goes from the screen assembly to the phone. Very common. It would be fixable by replacing the screen assembly. I have seen many home button issues but this one hasn’t ever been removed from the screen so the button has a good chance of not being the problem.

    HI Jason,have you seen Iphone 7 bootlooping(faster than usual) , SW passes and its not the AUDIO IC fix? i have 4 of them in the last week and its pretty killing me as i cant get my head around the fact SW passes which means all the voltages are there but still boot loops. SO i am guessing some data line is gone but cant find which one.All of them were dropped

    Is it not worth it to reball CPU? Or the CPU is fried?

    • @SeekSeekerMaster
      @SeekSeekerMaster 5 років тому

      @Carrot Cruncher My question is more of if The CPU can be reballed in this case or is it toast?

    • @UnyieldingVigor
      @UnyieldingVigor 5 років тому +2

      @Nikola Malic, reballing/reflowing is very useful in cases where the balls are the issue. For example meson and cumulus touch IC'S are usually the balls, rather than the chips itself from what ive seen, SMC's on macs are commonly the balls, BGA LPDDR ram is commonly the balls rather than the chips, sometimes on PCH or CPU on any machine its the balls, it can happen from repeated heated/cooling over time, flexion and expansion, excacerbated by improper pcb thickness and cooling, drops, or liquid damage, corrosion or oxidation, etc. Also some manufactures, if you have a sketchy one, use poor BGA rework stations when placing these chips that dont actually get things to the proper temperature/time recommended by the manufacture of that part.... which can cause issues with the balls later on in some point in time, although dont get me wrong the silicone in the chips do definately fail in a lot of cases, that is very common as well, but thats not always the case. sometimes its just a ball and a proper reflow or reball with heatgun/bga rework station will be affective in those cases. but its important to understand which is the issue, so you can go about repairing it correctly and affectively.

    • @SeekSeekerMaster
      @SeekSeekerMaster 5 років тому

      @Nikola Malic So much Hate, BTW Reball works for Touch IC 6 plus And most Audio IC in 7s, Baseband on 6 and more. My question still not answered, if its toast or not?
