- Animal Crossing has been a big part of our lives lately. Checking in on my island throughout the day and hearing the variations on the theme has made the New Horizons theme even more special to me. Join me in a day in the world of Animal Crossing in this new cover of New Horizons.

I've really enjoyed taking a little time each day to play Animal Crossing. It's like a parallel world I can check in on throughout the day. I've played some AC titles in the past, but nothing really hooked me in like New Horizons has. I've been trying to branch out into some oboe playing these last several months so I was excited to attempt recording it for a cover for the first time. Piecing this cover together was a bit of a challenge, trying to figure out a way to keep a repetitive tune from not being too repetitive. I think the theme itself offers several areas that can be expanded on, something we do see a lot in the hourly music. After quoting some original Animal Crossing theme phrases in here, I felt the legato B section of the original theme would be lovely to visit, inspiring a little bit of original composition to link the ideas together. Also, Raymond was my first camper, so I couldn't resist.
I may write for this instrumentation a bit more. It's nice to have some more highs to balance out writing for only bassoons.

Awww, this is so precious! The way that the arrangement evolves corresponding to what happens on-screen is extremely well-done, and the production sounds fantastic! I'd definitely love to hear you do more with the oboe, uke, and, of course, toodler horn!
Thanks so much Danny! I really like this little ensemble, something that's totally doable for myself but can still fill out the frequencies. I actually have a Fishing Tourney/Timed event cover in the works with this instrumentation.

Thanks! It was interesting to see how things turned out, especially writing with oboe, which I haven't experienced recording myself too much. Some registers of it stuck out more than I expected, others didn't project like I thought. Some harmonies gave a different character than expected too, especially open intervals like 4ths and 5ths in the oboes.
This guy is officially the wind and sax specialist dude you play so many instruments so frequently you are mr talent.

This is one of the greatest videos I’ve ever seen. The arrangement is unbelievably great and then the video is so ridiculously above and beyond and delivers so many laughs and so much complementary visuals! I’m honestly floored here!! Much appreciated! I started learning to cut and color my own hair a year ago, because I always felt weird trying to describe it at hair cutting places, and it was never how I quite imagined it. Learning that has definitely come in handy for the current times

Thank you! So last year sometime a friend gifted an old oboe they used back in high school. It's taking me awhile, and my right hand loves to cramp up while playing it. Also, I do not understand these strange reeds.

ahhhhh i play oboe, and was recently moved to bassoon, since theyre *minorly* related instrument my school will often move clarinets to sax, oboes to bassoon (mind you in the only oboe and bassoon*, and violin to string bass, trumpet to cornet, etc etc

Thanks Medllix! After playing the game for some time at this point, I feel like the phrases in the theme are incomplete sentences, which the hourly music goes into more detail to explain, but also incomplete sentences for you to choose where they go, like a blank island waiting for you to build up!

Dude, congratulations! How's the instrument coming along for you? I found at first getting most of the notes out wasn't terribly difficult, as long as your reed cooperates, but the challenges with so many thumb keys and funky fingerings kept it interesting

@@juancarlosparedesgutierrez5969 Awesome! So I use a couple of programs for things. I write the arrangements in Finale, record audio into Pro Tools, and edit video in Adobe Premiere.
