He should do an entire theory on what happened to little Lads mom, because as he says "mommy made me do the little lad dance, now mommy's gone."
Well The mother could’ve died in a tragic accident like. Cancer, Ran over by a truck, shooting, car crash..or maybe odd ways like, Get abducted by a flying pig, Flying to heaven, Vanished depends really^^

Starburst needs to bring berries and creams back, they would make a lot of money off of it.
The “herding cats” commercial was funny because it took a saying, “like herding cats,” to its literal conclusion. And because anyone who’s spent time around a cat knows the idea is absurd.
It wasn’t just weird for the sake of weirdness.
They also did the Japanese girl hacking car manufacturing, running of the squirrels, and building airplanes in the sky.
Exactly right.
All three of my cats float around me and my lady consantly lol. Herding cats is easy

I can't believe Justin "Hoops" McElroy will forever be known as the necromancer that brought back the Little Lad. Incredible.

Matt: "14 years after the characters debut.."
Me: *mid-age existential dread sets in*
Is willy wonka's candy forest room actually possible to create, a question that will forever haunt me
Genius
It is but it would go bad in like 3 day
Technically yes. But it would be extremely expensive and hard, and probably not entirely accurate especially in what it’s made of. Not only would it be extremely hard and expense a lot of it would go bad before the rest could be finished. It would also be made but not editable, again expense but plausible. But if you really want to know look into the chocolate river scene from the Willy wonka movie!
I’m pretty they made that a real thing Houston
Chocolate would be a problem because it would have to be warm for the river but cold for every thing else
That RC Cola commercial was definitely bizarre, but I also thought it was really cool and super creative!
People can say what they want about weird ads, but Old Spice commercials are masterpieces
With the amount of people who like “retro” stuff, how much attention you think a company would get if they aired an old commercial?
A lot of money I'd say nostalgia sells
In the Netherlands. An insurance company made very popular commercials with the slogan "Even Apeldoorn bellen". They haven't done so in a long time, but now I got one of their ads out of nowwhere with the same formule. Like the picked it up again after 10 years.
For a lot of Dutch people on UA-cam, it will be nostalgia when they get this new ad.
There are companies that still run their old commercials from the 90's around the winter holidays, and they seem to do real well off the nostalgia of it all. Puffs tissues and Campbell's soup are two examples off the top of my head. M&Ms kinda does it sometimes as well.
@@TiBunCosplay oh thank you for informing me of that. Had no clue. Again tyvm 😄
Cadbury does this every year around Easter, and Hershey's kisses have the same "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" commercial every year around that time of year.
I remember my aunt singing berries and cream all the time. She would dance, and sing it, and she taught me when it first came out as a commercial

When you mentioned "for better or worse" the Quiznos dead rats instantly came to mind. It was the main reason I've never ever tried eating at a Quiznos. There is such a thing as bad publicity.
They really should have used the dead rats to represent their competitors. Would have at least damaged the whole market sector instead of just their own.

"NO ONE EVER PAYS ME IN GUM." Except when me and my sister quote it we say Trident Layers instead of gum, so the marketing worked. You know what this finally explains to me, a European, why US commercials are so bizarre. We just have really boring regular ads over here where they tell you how amazing their product is so seeing US ads always made me think that everyone in marketing team was just high all the time.
Sometimes it seems like it, right?? But, the US isn't Japanese level weird yet.
Coming from germany and has lived in america for moth my life this is accurate
Have you seen Japanese commercials? American commercials have nothing on them
The US market is also much more susceptible to ads. The USA even has their pledge of allegiance officially starting as an ad Champaign from a flag vendor
I mean you're mostly likely not wrong.
puppy monkey baby was EVERYTHING
the trolli ads are a great example, never heard of it before but it stuck with me because of the beautifully eerie stop motion animation ads
Here's a weird one: Guy - "I've got Skittles-pox" - Girl - *eats one of the many Skittles dotting his face* "Is it contagious?" *immediately now has Skittles-pox* - Guy - "No I don't think so"
IKR it's so weird.
Ugh, I’ve seen that one soooo many times!
I love how the answer to people avoiding having to see ads is to shove ads in their faces in a different way. Totally not annoying and definitely not borderline invasive with how they completely ignore the lack of consent.
I remember the berries and crème coming back. Everyone was dancing and learning the song in my school. Some of the advertisements are hilarious
I love how he says that advertisements are everywhere but there aren't any on this video when I watched it.
My mom would always say "move over bacon" whenever she needed us to scooch over a bit. I never really thought much of it, also bacon kinda sounded like a pet name in the context. But it turns out that's a quote from an add for a product that didn't last very long. And the idea that the quote far outlived a product that I'm sure my parents never bought is crazy to think about! 😄

You mentioned that the increase in total commercial exposure drives advertisers to be more creative, but there's also the fact (as you mentioned at the end) that more people _skip_ ads, avoid them, or don't watch them. This even more so would drive advertisers to become meme-worthy, so it gets back around to the people who don't watch them _and_ gets those people to watch them _as the entertainment_ rather than a distraction.
Ad companies are already attempting to jump in the meme market. So far, none of it seems to work because it is inorganic. Most people in general are tired of ads anyway, so making it a meme won't send sales skyrocketing.
True the only ads I’ve watched all the way through are ones I’ve found funny

Update 10/2: starburst has made a promotional TikTok incorporating berries and cream but it’s a little late and the trend is basically over
Technically, it's probably the same if you take into account how many people used the internet for recreational purposes back then.
Also, need to remove x100 views for people that actually were interested back then and people "interested" in this now because it's popular and they're riding on the hype train.
@@SpecialProjectY yeah sure but one single tiktok last week by starburst would've been pretty cool.

The amount of people blatantly stealing people creative content or refrying decades old memes while pretending it's their own is a common habit.

@@SpecialProjectY that doesn’t disprove the marketability Starburst could find with this trend.

Almost didn't click on this because of the Little Lad in the thumbnail.
I was a sophomore in high school when those ads came out. My AP English teacher was obsessed with it. We had his class first thing in the morning and he would make us watch the commercials DAILY. Even when the Little Lad put out a video teaching you how to do the Little Lad Dance. We saw every version of the Berries and Cream Starburst commercials.
I have not let that man live it down. Over the years, every high schooler (or their parents) I've run across that had his class I've told them to ask him about the Little Lad. To the point that he knows where I work, who I know, and who to avoid.

Food theory: are skittles all the same flavor (or taste, whichever word technically excludes smell). I think smell should be a crucial part, but some people say that it shouldn’t be included if the chemical makeup of the skittle is the same and the only difference is the smell
I also commented about Skittles only smelling different, not tasting different 👍
It appears the only thing that tastes different is the outside bit and it just mixes together with the inside when you chew it.
what i think they taste different im eating some rn!
@@pupstarco Hold your nose and try one at a time all the way as you chew and swallow.
I think smell is an integral part of what we call taste in ordinary language, like if someone loses there sense of smell (hopefully temporarily) they will complain that food tastes different or even has lost flavour. The only way that taste only means what your taste buds on your tongue detect is if we are being technical and trying to define exact sensory pathways, rather than experience.
Note visual presentation probably changes our taste experience, I would not be surprised if skittles deliver a different experience depending on whether you are tasting them while looking at them versus wearing a blindfold etc.
