As a Kentuckian, I love the idea of the Curse of the Colonel in Japan of all places. KFC is legit more popular in Japan than in my home state of Kentucky.

I went to a pizza hut in Macau and it was so upscale in there it was wild! Proper tables, leather chairs, proper table cloth, proper cutlery, waiters, etc

I kept expecting him to bring up the rumors circulating around that the colonel actually hated what KFC wound up becoming - this would support the idea that he would give good luck to the team for throwing his statue in the river, a way of separating him from the company that would go on to make food he considered to be sub-par.
Actually, if he was able to inflict a curse on anyone, it seems like he'd be more likely to curse the restaurants themselves than an underdog baseball team. He'd be like a Ghost Chef Ramsay, the only way to appease his curse would be to cook the food right lol

The fast food in Japan is legit, often better than the OG western version. My personal theory is they just put more care into the preparation.
Well idk in Japan but in Europe a lot of things are illegal to put in the fast food. So I guess something similar in Japan and yeah they also put more attention. I was never in the west or Japan so I'm not sure.

Honestly, I’d like to think that Sanders would love that he has statues up in front of his restaurants, and is dressed up. I imagine he would love that people see him as a Santa figure, that’s touched the hearts, and fed the mouths, of millions. I dunno, I imagine that as much as he is a hardass, he is a softie about the public, especially the children who love his costumes and statues. Idea: the annual Mini Colonel celebration. Have kids and sports fans make little Colonel statues, to show their glee about their favorite sports teams, and rebuke the superstition of curses, as well as making it a symbol of perseverance. I doubt Colonel Sanders, a man who fought tooth and nail to get where he was, would believe in curses or higher powers taking you down. Not saying make a Kentucky Fried Cult, but I imagine kids being able to make a little statue, put him in any costumes they want, to support their favorite sports teams? It might make a good morale boost.

Ironically, I've been to many Japanese Baseball games while I was in Tokyo and the team I watched and follow to this day are actually the Yomiuri Giants! Because they're based in Tokyo and the stadium was easy to get to, it made watching them easy.

My great grandparents met the Colonel when he was still alive and they lived in KY. One of the original sites off the highway, I think, where he would visit from time to time to make sure everything was going well and everyone was being treated well. They spoke with him and said he was nothing but nice, although it's fairly common knowledge to those that worked with him that he was a very passionate man and would get quite heated when people didn't take his food seriously.
My grandma worked in a hospital that he frequented later in life. Same here, never a negative word about the man.
