As a drummer I was never much into drummer’s solo albums. Most of the time they sounded like a drum solo with some chords thrown in for kicks and crashes. Steve Gadd’s bands play real songs with great melodies. He always plays what’s right for the song and let’s the other musicians shine. What a great musician and band leader.
I knew Steve as a school chum; he was always "that nice guy" who let other people shine through. Consider it a privilege to have known him, even a little.
@jeffrey kwon THERE YOU GO JEFFREY SOWING THE SEEDS OF PEACE IN THAT RESPONSE OLD SCHOOL IS GREAT AND THIS NEW SCHOOL GENERATION WILL BECOME OLD ONE DAY AND SO ON
Spinozza is amazing and often overlooked when it comes to list the greatest players ever. What a career! Met him once and spent an evening with him. Lovely and very interesting gentleman. Jimmy Johnson is stunning as always.... and Gadd... the perfect drummer.
What a beautifull human been, all his life dedicated to music, and musicians, I been follow him since the years of Stuff, never put his interes out of control, serve the tempo of the songs at the top level...thanks Maestro Steve Gadd...
First saw Steve in the 70s playing with Mike Mainieri in a small club down in the village (7th Ave South). Then saw him with Fagan & Becker in the early 80s in NorCal...I was taken aback by his efficiency, and the tone depth he got from his kit. Saw him last year in Oakland at Yoshis & he makes the notes come from nowhere. Clearly one of the finest drummers ever. Be like Steve.....you don't need to play so loud!
I could listen to Gadd all day! I so much prefer his groove oriented style over the guys that overplay and use way too much chops....he is, to me, the best all around drummer of the last 30 years.
This brother's been around a long time. Had his ups and downs. All my percussionist buddies at peabody conservatory (late 70's) always looked up to him as uniquely creative in his technique.
Now , that’s a real drummer ..just keeps the rythm going same pace from start to finish and really backs the band up , does what a drummer should .. KEEP TIME .. most drummers nowadays think that TIME is just a magazine .. haha !
"Oh Yeah" by Jan Hammer, is much more interesting stretched into a more harmonically free format like here. It's interesting that from that album he choses Oh Yeah instead of "Magical Dog"
De bons musiciens, c est certain, mais comment qualifier ces compositions ? Je me suis ennuyé à leur écoute....Quant au son de la batterie Yamaha de fabrication Chinoise, il est devenu méconnaissable !
Real nice beat but where's the beef? I don't find much excitement here. Nothing much to get my feet, or hands, or heart or heat going. I love Gadd but I want more Stuff or something live Live at VOCE. I want it to swing hard! I want to hear some Michael Brecker excitement, some real improvisation. This is my definition of soft jazz and I can't call it jazz, not like I've been listening to since 1957. 2 stars.
Check the description for the track listing and personnel.
This is superb. Gadd is a master craftsman. It’s like he can mould water with his hands he is so smooth.

That's what's up!

Working through my second watch if this, still blowing my mind 🙏🤌
People living in the world should be disciplined to listen to this kind of music for the peace of the World. Patience , Communication and Harmony.
@MorbidManMusic
Just my opinion, never mind. I respect your reply.
@jeffrey kwon THERE YOU GO JEFFREY SOWING THE SEEDS OF PEACE IN THAT RESPONSE OLD SCHOOL IS GREAT AND THIS NEW SCHOOL GENERATION WILL BECOME OLD ONE DAY AND SO ON
@job Rothberg Yes!!!! You are the disciple of Gadd.
job Rothberg ARE YOU MEANING WHERE THEY PLAY GADD MARCHING ARMY RUDIMENTS?
@MorbidManMusic As a thought experiment, Imagine an army playing this as they march to war. The idea is comical.
I could listen to Steve just go. Tick tick tick tick pop..... all day.....my favorite player of aninstru, ent
Jimmy Johnson is an awesome cat and great player. I worked for him for several years and kept some of his gear at my work.
Ron Chrisman Great NASCAR driver, as well.
Spinozza is amazing and often overlooked when it comes to list the greatest players ever. What a career! Met him once and spent an evening with him. Lovely and very interesting gentleman. Jimmy Johnson is stunning as always.... and Gadd... the perfect drummer.

One of the best example of smooth Jazz.. Steve Gadd gives the exact rhythm what the melody needs..Not less and not more..

I was in there within that crowd, listening to the magical performances of Dr Steve Gadd and members of his band. What a great gig it was.
tremendo concierto señor gadd , inspiracion de la buena!!
Gadd sort of look like Hal Blaine did in the 1980s...what a drummer, what a nice line up this is, nice show, thanks for uploading

For the magic of Gadd I randomly flicked to 34 mins. Good luck. Superb.
I could listen to Gadd all day! I so much prefer his groove oriented style over the guys that overplay and use way too much chops....he is, to me, the best all around drummer of the last 30 years.
... and he is 74 yrs here!
I wish that Jeff Porcaro still be here. Would have loved to hear what he should sound like.

So Marvelous‼️ Maestro “Steve God ✝️ Bless You 🥁“

MAGNIFIQUE!
Simply GREAT

Reminds me of Steely Dan. Nice!!
Same here! (New Dan) Very smooth. Like it, though!
It’s a new fresh sound for SG band , I like it more than previous bands
Fantastico
David Spinozza !!! awesome
🎶💙🎶💙🎶💙🎶 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Best medicine for ‘Corona Days’...
This Steve Gadd fellow appears to have a pretty good pocket. I think we'll be hearing more from him in the future.
flipping amazing.
That's for sure! Gadd has influenced scads of younger drummers; his influence will continue well into the future.
🤣
Fantastic!
Magic !!!!
Super band !
Very nice
Amazing!
01:18 turns on the snares as a backbeat.
I love this!
I miss Landau though.
Now , that’s a real drummer ..just keeps the rythm going same pace from start to finish and really backs the band up , does what a drummer should .. KEEP TIME .. most drummers nowadays think that TIME is just a magazine .. haha !
Superb!!!
12月観に行きたい。
わい、行くで
Great band! Allthough it´s half the pleasure without Landau and Goldings... they are outstanding!
Wow! Bernard Herrmman intro! :-)
"Oh Yeah" by Jan Hammer, is much more interesting stretched into a more harmonically free format like here. It's interesting that from that album he choses Oh Yeah instead of "Magical Dog"

sleepy
The lighting is horrible.
Music 4 music goes nowhere, that's the problem
Not the same without Michael Landau!!!
I've been a huge fan of Stuff and The Gadd Gang, and quite frankly this is boring to me.
Steve Gadd forgot his precious drumming back to the eighties... Not the same anymore...
The guy's a great drummer but have been doing the same things again and again and again ... is it bad ? is it good ? I don't know... it's boring.
Richard Tee is dead, Cornell Dupree too and the music is not so good at all ...
and Eric Gale.. and Gordon Edwards!
Guitar player is way too tense..................needs to let go of notes and play, you know like entertain.
yeah, he'll never get a good gig, right?
Leslie Robert he sounds great. Listen with your ears and NOT you eyes!
