I've always loved Steve Gadd's drumming. This is no exception. And Landau is, in my opinion, at his best. Everyone in this band are phenomenal musicians. Such nuance and taste. Thank you for posting.

I first saw this band in 2017 in Cheltenham at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and then again in 2018 at Ronnie Scott’s, with the same lineup both times but with Kevin Hays on Electric Piano instead of Larry Goldings, I also had the honour and privilege to meet and talk with Steve Gadd after the gig in Cheltenham,a true gentleman and an absolute musical legend, hero, and influence of mine😁👍
Thanks for the solo... you friggin killed everyone on the block... Steve!!! Walter B has gotta b smilin...Fagen, too!!!!! Ain't but one Steely Dan, yet you jumped the fence...and ran hard✌️💥🎶😎👍
What a band! Golding's solo on The Windup and Landau's solo on Duke's Anthem (which is really a beautiful piece by itself)! Jesus! Interplay between these guys is amazing.
My ears are wide open listening to this excellent groove. Steve been drumming for awhile I remember gadd fusion days excellent glad to see he's doing it 😁
The same group of musicians went on tour behind James Taylor if I am not mistaken, but with Mr. Johnson as Music Director rather than Mr. Gadd. Here, they really shine !
Steve Gadd is my idol. I aim for drummer by listening to his drums and respecting him even if I become a professional. His play at the heyday was wonderful, but I love his play now. Thank you for uploading.
@@herrbonk3635 1000% agree. When you get the chance listen to his work with the rest of the band on James Taylor's album Before This World. His approach to the drums is truly inspirational.

Those drums just sound incredible! I love how the snare is sensitive, and has a nice tight, concise sound but still breathes. The toms have a sweet attack, and gorgeous "swell" and resonance. I might want more articulation, personally only because I have coated Ambassadors on my drums currently, and they're too "pretty" for the music I'm doing with them. I may move to a C.S. Black Dot, Emperor, or PinStripe. Probably not the PinStripe though. They're more beefy than I want to go with my general purpose kit where I'm playing everything from jazz to metal. But the clarity of tone, and sensitivity may keep me with the Ambassadors. I found a set of Aquarian Classic Clear w/ Power Dots in my closet. I didn't even remember that I had them. I'm going to pull off the new Ambassadors I put on last week to get through those Aquarians. I spent the money, I'm going to use them!
So intersting... clearly classic american country western influences. Not a genre typical to getting mixed into the Jazz fusion. Talk about stacked lineup! Looks like Jimmy using those alembic basses like Stanley Clarke
All of Steve Gadd's bands have had some country or folk and soul influences back to the days of Cornell Dupree, Richard Tee and Eric Gale. His style is really suited to those styles.

Master musicians. A Sunday morning treat, or whatever day or night I’m listening to it 👍🏼
Gadd is the embodiment of a drum machine with surplus groove . He keeps the band tight timing wise and groovewise.
It's Day 2 in Hospital. Doctors can't really find what's wrong with me. But I know God Still Love Me 🙏🙏🙏🙏
i am a big S.G. fan , but this line up, pffff, when you play for the music with hearth and soul, saw them in Budapest, unforgettable
Only 100 comments.. Thats Krazy...This music takes me away..Thanks from Denver NC

Understated playing always gets the best results…truly using their ears to create and not out to impress….works every time!
This is the best thing on UA-cam !!
It is the great pleasure to feel the breath of this groove machine...
The same group of musicians went on tour behind James Taylor if I am not mistaken, but with Mr. Johnson as Music Director rather than Mr. Gadd. Here, they really shine !
Yes, saw JT last night at Tanglewood, and this band was with him. I didn't realize who was backing him. Phenomenal.

Gadd must have a click implanted. It's uncanny how perfect this man's timing is.

I’m pretty sure it was Stanley Clarke and jimmy johnson that launched the alembic line
