My RT-AC5300 that I bought this last summer 2018 came with bad antenna connectors on the unit. It took till September to get to the point that it could go in on an RMA. I just got it back this past week and they replaced it with another RT-AC5300. It came out of the box brain dead and finally this morning I had to re-flash the unit using their restore tool to flash it. Then to get it to work on my internet service the ASUS tech on the phone had me plug it into my Netgear router as an Access Point cause he could not get it to see my ISPs Ethernet network cable. But I told him hey my Netgear routers see this Ethernet from my ISPs network switch. Not a good showing for ASUS sending me a brain dead unit and not a good thing having to use a Netgear to get it to work at all. Jimmy, WX9DX
Don't you mean Mega-BITS per second? Communications is ALWAYS measured in megabits/second, as is noted by Mbps. Notice the small "b." This is a rookie mistake people that use computers make when they try to talk about data communications. MBps couldn't be a data-rate, because what makes a byte? 7 bits or 8? Whereas a bit is a bit is a bit. Small b = bits, big B = bytes.
Going to the AC88u wont be a huge upgrade and if you have close to 20 devices connected via wireless it could be considered a downgrade considering the ac3200 is triband. The gt-ac5300 would be a substantial upgrade and is also triband mu-mimo which is a plus, and both the ac88u and 5300 are able to utilize the AiMesh setup giving you seamless internet throughout the house if you connect a mesh access point. You can also look at the Netgear Nighthawk line which is also very good gaming router.
Skunny thanks not interested in Netgear have used it some times back have horrible firmware issues ... Asus ac3200 for me have been rock solid and yeah I have many WiFi devices Will ac5300 be good for gaming also , I have Nvidia shield TV and it has ability to stream games on its geforce network..on a 3200 I constantly get less ping less speed etc even though I have a fibre optics broadband of 100mbps speed..will ac5300 be a big improvement on that ? I don't want to buy ac5300 Rog gaming router as it's very much out of my budget
Sajid A the ac5300 would be an improvement but yes it is very expensive and it all depends on how far the router will be from your gaming stuff and the walls the signal has to go through to get there for speeds. You could also go with the cheaper ac88u with a mesh extender if the router is far from your gaming but you'll end up spending the same as a 5300. You will get better speeds with both. If you don't want to spend the money I would suggest making your main gaming setup a wired connection instead of wireless and you will be guaranteed fast speeds

I think RT5300 is 1.4ghz but GT5300 Rapture is 1.8ghz
