when you believe in yourself and let your creativity become tangible, that's when you are a creator and participant in life! this is beautiful! Everything about this makes me miss home.
Clicked on this because I recognised the title from the local author George Lamming. I must say I'm glad to have enjoyed this as much as I've enjoyed his works. Blessings from your cousin in Barbados 🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧🇧
I just discovered you guys a couple of weeks ago. I instantly loved this album. I am from New Orleans; so Jazz is kind of my regional identity. This feels like home to me.
Have mercy, that was PERFECT! This is a performance I'd love to see on the stage at the Grammys! This is my intro to Sons of Kemet, and I am blown away. Makes me get on up n dance along. I'll dance some more later...right now I have to ice my ankles. A sista tore 'em up tryin' to show off, lol. =-P
Hope your ankles recovered to dance some more ;) I only just discovered them, looked up to see if they're touring, found that they were in a couple of months and the venue close by, but they are sold out!
Never heard of this group, but, boy, that was some great dancing. Didn't know they were African dancers---that explains why they're so good, lol. I love jazz, too, so that just cements both of them there for me.
I cannot wait to see you guys in Paris next Feb... I am coming from Zurich with my girlfriend just to see you !!!! Thank you for the amazing music.............
The Smile brought me here. As a Radiohead fan, I naturally became a fan of The Smile as well after Thom York and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead formed a new band called The Smile and included Tom Skinner (one of the drummers from Sons Of Kemet) on the drums. Of course I had to now look up Sons Of Kemet because, living in the US, I have never heard of them before. Long story short, several degrees of separation later...... here I am checking out Sons Of Kemet, and I must say.... I like it a lot. Always been a fan of Contemporary Jazz (like Miles Davis, Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Count Basie, ...etc) but Sons of Kemet are a different brand of Jazz, a brand that I am now definitely have to get more into.
Sorry about my blunt English language, I would like to express how my heart and ears feel when watching all you gave me at once.XXX Deeply Thankyou Masters of sound
I'm from Colombia, South America and there's a genre similar to this which is way more ancient & cultural, it's called "Cumbia". In case anyone wants to listen more music like this ;)
This does NOT sound like Cumbia music. lololol. Cumbia has accordions and vocals and usually a slower beat and it swings way more than this. Sons of Kemet are a Jazz group.
Was priviledged to watch them live in February during the Safaricom International Jazz Festival in Nairobi in Feb. Extremely talented band! I'm a fan for life now.
Its been 6 years and this video is still not at a mill. Some people are truly missing out
... words could not explain how I feel this in my spirit. Not just the music, but also the visual...
Beautiful
Oh my gah me toooooo i thought i was losing my mind😱

...Theon rules..
Work of incredible talent and sheer beauty. The world needs more African artistry.
R J, the world overflows with African artistry.
Agree. From Croatia
Oh wow.... stumbled upon Sons of Kemet by accident today.
What a beautiful accident.
This is amazing music. #PureSoul 🤩🌟
Me, too. Today was a good day. ✨
This title 'In the Castle of my Skin' is derived from a line in a Derek Walcott poem which was used as the title of a novel by George Lamming.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge !
You're a GOAT for this. Many thanks

This looks very much like the pantsula type dance in South Africa. Shout out to the exposure all the way from South Africa
The symbolism in this video is louder than the music. This video is truly a beautiful piece of art.
Excuse me....for my lack of languages your music speaks to me and Thankyou Masters of sound for sharing with us the joy.
Sometimes I wonder what the World would be like if this were the type of song/video to get multi-million views. Beautiful.
Watching this in June 2020 makes me hopeful for a peaceful, unified future
I love to come back to this video every now and again. It's magic.
I don't have enough superlatives for how much I love this. 🔥🔥🔥

One of the greatest dance videos I've ever seen. Totally awesome production from top to bottom. Scorching!
