Flew the Colimata from London to New York a few weeks ago, thought I knew the aircraft pretty well. I learned many new procedures of the Concorde from this video that I did not know about before. Thank you very much for making this great tutorial! Can’t wait for the autopilot to be fully modeled :)
@Jimmy I think it's mostly due to lack of automation. The 737 is light on automation, but still with only a moderate workload for just 2 crew, whereas a 777 has even fewer buttons and switches to deal with than the 73 due to extensive automation. I used to be quite proficient with the 767 back when the Level-D was still a thing, and it was slick and simple compared to this Concorde business. Really enjoyable and watched each minute. Thank you for taking the time to make such an enjoyable tutorial. So much fun to view - Cheers! Have Colimate made the changes you discussed?
As a long time FSLabs Concorde user, I want so much to love the Colimata in XP, because it is a beautiful plane and the systems seem to be very detailed at least on the surface. But the flight characteristics, especially the excess of thrust, concern me - 3 years after this video was released. The same issues mentioned around the 2:45 mark are still present. The plane has Saturn V rocket engines attached in place of jets. It's very unfortunate. I keep FSLabs Concorde and Prepar3d V3 installed just to be able to keep flying that aircraft, it was so well done.
I know this is late but I thought I would comment and say the gpu umbilical s remind me of a scene from starship troopers where Carmen Ibanez waited till the last minute to disconnect the umbilicals at the beginning of the movie.
This is the best tuturial for Concorde on UA-cam. It has gone from v1.50 to v2.1. Would it be possible to have your perpective on the updates and maybe a demonstration on how it works. Or is it possible that it isn't worth it. I would very much liked to hear your opinion. Guys comment if you feel the same. Cheers
Very very nice video indeed. A few comments: in regards to the model to me it would like the most unacceptable part you mentioned is that the unavailability of the manual fuel transfer to manage the c.g this was clue in the operation of Concorde. The sounds in x plane for me are shockingly bad. You can only hear the fans no roar. A really pitty. Also the fact that there are no smoke effects from the tires at touchdown🤦🏻♂️ I also missed the reverse thrust sound after landing. I enjoyed the video anyway👌🏻👌🏻
Great Tutorial! I have bought the Concorde v.1.50 now but i get problems with the GUI. Everything works fine but if i click the Doors & Ground the GUI Window closed. I cannot connect the plane with the ground power and i dont know what is the problem. I cant see any stairs, vehicles or something. Anybody know what i can do?
Always wanted to go into Vatsim but I usually just stutter and can't tell what they are saying even though I know all the meanings and stuff you needa say lol
This is of great value to us that are new to Concorde and Colimata. Since FXP is up to 1.5 now, is there any chance you can do an updated video with the newer AP modes etc? Loving the content!
Hi Calle, I'm going to wait till the next big Colimata Update that should hopefully be out sometime in the near future then I will do an updated tutorial covering all the changes from when this video was made.
Have you ever flown the Concorde FXP in VR? I do and it is better than track IR and monitor. Also, I fly with sim shaker so I can get the most realistic sensations of flight in such an incredible plane with Virtual reality headsets on. Sim Shaker simulates all movements of the aircraft during flight: flaps, landing gear, landing bumps turbulence etc.

Fantastic video Maverick, thanks a lot. Are you planning on doing a similar video on the new 1.50beta? Quite a lot of differences there I reckon right?

Bought the Civa INS NAV SYSTEM , unfortunately it goes blank after entering the 9 waypoints . What am I doing wrong? Also how do you get all the noises in the cockpit eg: seatbelts.
I just installed the Concorde Heritage avionics package, The problem I have is, that my nr 3 engine won`t go past 5%N2. It goes up to 5 and back to 0. The bleed valves and cross breed vales are open.
What would happen if another player joined at same time as you in another Concorde, would he be allocated a different call sign? You can't have 2 Speedbird 1s surely?
Really nice video - is there anyway I can get the compass to show my INS route? Its pointing at my VOR and I can't figure out how to change it. Thanks!
Very cool video. How complete is the Colimata Concorde in terms of system depth? Last time I checked (a few months ago) it was missing a significant number of features...
Hi Chuck! It still has a way to go, I talk about the missing features and compromises that have to be made for the time being in the video. At a guess I would say she is about 70-75% of the way complete, the team have given a very rough estimate of 2 years to complete to a release level stage.
Great tutorial - clear and precise. I flew the Koch/Altitude and SSTSIM a lot in FS2004, although not the FSLabs version - how would you say the Colimata compares?
Hi, the FS9 SSTSIM is the aircraft I learned Concorde in. The Xplane model compares very well, its not as far a step up from the SSTSIM to FSLABS is just yet however it will be once its finished. There is no ability to move the fuel around in the XP aircraft right now so thats one less job to worry about, but all in all like I mention in the video you can still get the Concorde experience, you just have to make some compromises along the way. Not having MAX Climb/IAS Hold is a deal breaker for lots of people tho, which I fully understand. But it looks great and flys great, I love it :)
Excellent thanks. Yes that was some nice hand flying out of Heathrow, glad to hear she flies nicely. Growing up I loved watching her base training at Prestwick so would be nice to have Concorde in X-Plane. Not having IAS hold would be a bit of an annoyance, but workable. I’ve got the Philipp CIVA but compared to the Simufly unit it’s nowhere near as detailed - how well does the built in unit work?
Hey, Mav- are you going to do an updated V2 flight like this? I’ve been using these videos a bunch to get me going, but v2 has some differences. Standing by.
My word this video is amazing so far, now correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't LHR GND cleared you to your NAT entry point then tell you to contact Shanwick for oceanic clearance and then they will give you clearance over the Atlantic to JFK and you give them your heathrow departure time?
@@GreenJetsam IRL, planes who are further west than 2 degrees and 30 minutes west (primarily UK and Ireland) should obtain oceanic clearance from the ground, as they are closer than the ordinary 30 minute boundary for oceanic clearance requests. This is difficult to simulate on VATSIM, as most flights don't have an accurate slot time, which is how you would calculate this. If you want to, then yes you can request that on the ground, proven that either CZXQ_FSS or EGGX_FSS is online (one position covers both unless spesifically specified). :)
Are they really going to put a real concorde into complete air status? The engineers Ricky bastin and the pros of teams, I bet they could put it into flight status no problem, even seeing her taxi under her own power would be heaven.........can u let us know what's going on plz!!!!!!! Cheers.....
Glad you've pointed out those overpowered engines, it's so easy to bust 250 knots at higher weights. Have to get be reheat out well before the real noise abaintment procedure. Those textures from X-Plane org by any chance?
@@104thMaverick To come clean I created them but wasn't too sure they were mine since there's a few repaints about. Happy to see them being used Haven't really flown the colimata much since making the repaint to be honest but looking forward to watching this for some tips.
Hey thanks for the hard work, you've done an amazing job with it, its the only livery I fly! I've added the download link to the video description, thanks again!
How would you calculate when you passed your last waypoint for position checks and find out the Sierra Mike things and whatnot. Are those VOR’s or something. I was lost there.
I cover this in detail in my Concorde tutorial mate, we take our position report from our Inertial Navigation System. You can learn more about it here - ua-cam.com/video/wmHR3VlK34E/v-deo.html
@@104thMaverick I can understand that. I fixed my joystick and tried to fly dcs again after 4 months but my ram is lacking (if not the computer) to keep up... Not sure how x plane will handle multiplayer either... but it's nice to fly peacefully
I tried to perform a couple of ILS approaches with this bird, and once localizer established I press GLIDE and it keeps blinking rather than lighting the small light under the button that indicates the system is armed. You mentioned no Autoland function, does this include no GLIDE function as well?
Correct, there is no ILS mode or Glide function right now, best thing to do is fly it manually. It will make you a much better pilot in all the aircraft you fly and will give you a lot of confidence to fly Concorde. Autopilot is for losers ;)
@@104thMaverick Well, I still need to learn how to proper land this bird. I started with initial contact on the tail wheel and now I'm at the tailwheel and main gear stage. Getting closer. Thanks for the quick answer!
hey, i know this video is quite old now, but pleaaase i need your help. Can you post or share me a link of the checklist youre using? I dont have the colimata concorde so no access to the build in one. Thank you!
When you do a DME update, are the co ordinates of the DME then stored in the selected waypoint slot? So do you need to chose a slot that's not being used?
No, when you enter into DME update mode it frees up 9 waypoints for use aside from NAV mode. So as long as you properly enter DME update mode it won’t affect your NAV waypoints

My word this video is amazing so far, now correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't LHR GND cleared you to your NAT entry point then tell you to contact Shanwick for oceanic clearance and then they will give you clearance over the Atlantic to JFK and you give them your heathrow departure time?
It works like that IRL sir but normally never on VATSIM, the Oceanic guys are not online 24/7 like they are IRL.
@@104thMaverick If Oceanic is online when you log on are we able to do it like real life even if they log off before we get there?
Yes sir I use the fantastic repaint available here - forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/52747-colimata-concorde-ba-union-flag/
@@104thMaverick To come clean I created them but wasn't too sure they were mine since there's a few repaints about. Happy to see them being used
Haven't really flown the colimata much since making the repaint to be honest but looking forward to watching this for some tips.
Hey thanks for the hard work, you've done an amazing job with it, its the only livery I fly! I've added the download link to the video description, thanks again!
Is it normal that the INS navigation is a bit offset from the route? Or can I correct that somehow?
How would you calculate when you passed your last waypoint for position checks and find out the Sierra Mike things and whatnot. Are those VOR’s or something. I was lost there.
I cover this in detail in my Concorde tutorial mate, we take our position report from our Inertial Navigation System. You can learn more about it here - ua-cam.com/video/wmHR3VlK34E/v-deo.html
Hi Mav! I should like to know what program do you use to save your X-Plane Colimata Concorde video.Thx in advance.
I use shadow play by Nvidia
You take a break from the fighters for the liners? Nice flight and a mythical aircraft
Yes mate, a little sick of DCS at the moment, I'll go back to it at some point soon but for now Im enjoying the friendly skies.
@@104thMaverick I can understand that. I fixed my joystick and tried to fly dcs again after 4 months but my ram is lacking (if not the computer) to keep up...
Not sure how x plane will handle multiplayer either... but it's nice to fly peacefully
and I hear tonight a AF257 with a very scottish voice when me the french (mermoz) is flying under an Irish flag :)
45:33 which button have you pushed?
How might I align the INS without the payware mod?
Thank you!
I bought the real Concorde checklist from eBay. Just search “Concorde Checklist” on eBay and you’ll find it friend.
@104th_Maverick what client do you use for vatsim? can't find concorde in xpilot
I use xpilot with the code CONC
Will the INS systems be the same as the payware. (as in I don't have the payware, and when I select INS in flight, It doesent do anything)
Yes, once the aircraft is finished the INS will be just like the add on payware one.
@@104thMaverick Thanks! I'm currently doing my first transatlantic flight in this plane, your Concorde videos helped a lot.
