Boy does that box speed up the mudding process .
Im thinking about switching to tapetech boxes
Thanks for the vid. I'm learning a lot from watching you.
Do you start running the box after your angles are totally coated? All my tape is on the whole job. Should I coat my angles or start boxing the flats? Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. So do you coat the flats with the 10" box then coat your angles then finish flats with the 12"? Or do you do both coats on the flats then do the last coat on the angles?
Thanks again. I'm a finish carpenter who has done lots of hand taping but I'm renoing my whole house and learning lots from you about the pro tools I haven't used before. You've been a huge help. Lots of tips and tricks.
For anyone New to Boxing, this is priceless advice. Thanks.
I'm the owner of Hardin Fine Finishes, I finally moved into the 21st century & bought my first flat boxs. I'm having to do what I call back blading it to get it smooth. But even then it has cut my time per seam in half.
What tips can you give for proper operations so I don't have to back blade it to get it smooth.
You kind of have to wipe it. When we coat we have one guy run like hell with the box and a guy with a pan and knife (2" over the size of the box) chasing the box to wipe it smooth and wipe everything together. Even paying 2 guys on each box the savings are phenomenal 👍
Run the joint twice
What do you run your 12” on when you’re skimming your flats on the last time?
All boxes are different, sometimes 2 to 5 depending on the box. Look at the seams and adjust the settings. I have skimmed seams on 5 and butt's on 2.
I don’t think I’ve ever run it on 5. I have a newer Tape Tech. I run the first fill wide open or on 1. But I’m still experimenting with the finish coat. I see some guys run the box on their skim coat and then wipe it down with a 12-14” knife to get a really smooth finish. Have you ever done that? Or recommend that? Thanks again
Love your videos DD. I'm starting to flip houses and some are complete guts. I'm jumping to hardware vs all trowels. Can you do a video breakdown of how you thin all purpose mud for the mud runner, flat box, bazooka, and corner bead hopper? Appreciate it.
I bedcoat with the 10 box wide open, finish coat with the 12 on 2, and skim with the 14 on 4. I run Drywall Master.
I run a 10 or 12 box wide open or 0 and then skim by hand then sand but after it's primed why can I still see the joint ???
@@iamthechosenone10 running too wide and leaving too much mud. Wipe it tighter and you'll leave less hump
Do you ever use power assist boxes?
Do you ever used the platinum box before....
No they look like Colombian boxes but I'm really only familiar with tapetech Ames and drywall Master tools those are the main tools I've used for 40 years
Great video what size box would u recommend for tapered joints fir a first time r ?? Thanks Kevin
10’’ first 2 coats and a 12” for finish

I been doing drywall for 20 yrs. And, for the past year I've been using automatic tools. Bc, my friend quit drywalling and sold me a whole set of auto tools. The 10 inch box leaves thick edges on both sides. My friend told me I could flip the blade over so I did. And, still is leaving edges.
Would you please do a good on changing blades and adjusting screws
The screws on the sides of the blades are adjustable to stop those bad edges, bring it a little higher
change the shoes, get a new blade, adjust the screws so that your fingernail just clicks a little between the shoe and the blade
help because I work tomorrow please
The Drywall Doctor thanks brother what your email
