    Excellent video how to run your 10" box. This is the way I was taught to do it. After doing drywall for 40 plus years, I did retire. Using a box for your bed coat, I always went over the joints twice. I've worked with others that wiped down the bed coat with a knife. I, personally, was a waste of time. Let the tools do the work. I'm so thankful & grateful that I run across this video to show others how to operate tools being more efficent. Thx, Phil Anderson-Evansville, Indiana

    Little tip i always hit the receps with a sanding pole before i circle or run tools by them. That will knock the fuzzies off and reduce the garbage in your mud. Just dont go too crazy and burn the paper on the board.

    • @bobbysmith3051
      @bobbysmith3051 3 місяці тому

      It really all depends on the consistency of your mud. The give and take is more water in your mud will make running boxes much easier because less pushing but can run out if it gets too watery. It is pretty easy to keep a good consistency though and is very clean for the most part. Definitely keep some plastic or a scrap piece of drywall under the pump.

      Every box works different. And will change as the blades wear in. Check the fill every time you use the box with a straight 12" blade square to the walls. The blade should just barely make a contact line in the fill mud to where after shrinking it is flat. First coat shrinks more than second coat. Very important that you get the joints dead flat.

    So I bought that level 5 kit 10 12 pump stick. Like I said before I've been doing it for 30 plus bro. Am I just weak or what? I tried to make it work today. I gave up and busted the knife and pan out. I'm strictly a hand finisher from the get-go. They gave me a 42 stick extendable. Should I get a shorty? I'm 6'5. I should have leverage I guess there goes $1,000 for nothing

      Hey dude! Don't feel discouraged. It doesn't happen overnight. I dont know if you watched the whole video series we did on how to run flat boxes or if you just watched one video.
      We did a 6-part video series on how to run flat boxes.
      Search through this playlist and start with the first video titled "Beginners guide to running Flat Boxes" and then continue watching the rest.
      If you still need help, feel free to send me an email at Brian@drywallnation.com, and I'd be more than happy to spend some time with you troubleshooting whatever problems you may be having. But generally speaking, our videos are pretty thorough and should cover just about everything.

      I personally feel Level5 compares very closely to Columbia. Wasnt always the case but in recent years Level5 has really stepped up their game! Many finishers I know prefer Level5 to Columbia. There's pros and cons to every company and tool but Level 5 manufactures top quality products. They also offer a 7 year hassle free warranty and have excellent customer service.

      @@FabianLopez-om6tw You know how many time I've heard "I've been doing it for 20, 30, 40 years!"
      Years of experience mean nothing if you suck! Haha. Not saying that you do. I'm sure you do great work, but you obviously don't know how to use automatic taping tools or you wouldn't have a predisposition to thinking they "bow" or crown all your joints. If they do, then you're not using them properly. We talk about how to crown your joints in this video series.
      Also, we use trim-tex buttboard so there's no need to stagger. It's a floating recessed buttjoint. It's structurally superior and flatter.
