Boy that really beats the hell out of doing it by hand
I have a Tapetech mudrunner but having trouble using it .Watching you is inspiring , I am going to put down my angle box and learn to use this tool properly. Thanks .
I’m 19 years old and have a been doing mudding for a year and you’re videos help out a lot !
Happy New Years and thank you for the awesome video
Thanks for helping out. I appreciate your help.
Another great idea, thanks for sharing doc.
thanks for showing this tool. I'll let you know how I make out with mine, picking it up tomorrow. Won't be using it until Monday though. Been using a angle box or tubes for over 20 years.
I love my mudrunner! Its been worth every penny it cost. I can run all my ceiling crown angles in a typical house ,in less than 30 minutes. It would take over an hour and a half to two hours to run them by hand.
I will have to try one of those tools, I currently use a mudtube and chase with a bonehead. barely touch my angle box anymore just too much work.
Great work
I haven't personally used one myself, I've only seen you use one, but it looks effortless, I've never been able to push an angle box with out sweating up a storm, lol.
I'd like to get one some day. They look pretty sweet tho!
Thanks
can i use a colombia comound tube with proper heads the same way?
Hey brother, I have a question unrelated to this video. Is it ok to stomp a ceiling with lightweight material? Thank you!
What would make the tape rip when you glaze with a 2.5 in Head
Mud runner looks like a straight up production tool .
Very good
I want the same t-shirt. 😁
Hey bud thanks I’m using a buddies mud runner tomorrow and never ran one. I taped and glazed using my mud tube and he offered to let me use his mud runner to finish it. I’m eventually buying a mud shot from Level5tools but I’m looking forward to using this tho. By the way did you meet Richard eishfeller from trimtex or advanced drywall? I think you did! I’ve watched your videos for years. I enjoy your vids sir
Yes I met him at the Ames store in warrenville Illinois
Are you in Illinois looked like if you were in the carol stream area
The mud runner looks sweet in all my years I’ve never had my muddy little hands on one definitely need to try one out maybe I could purchase a used one what company produces yours ? Thanks doc.
Tapetech
We run a MudShot. No twisting the handle, just push the head into the angle and it pumps the mud. Love your videos 👍
I really want to try the mudshot
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 it takes a bit of getting used to like any new automatic tool. I've used both. I prefer the mudshot for two reasons; the mud comes out automatically when (and only when) the head is pressed into the angle, and there are only two moving parts, the plunger and the release valve.
This maybe a dumb question but why is the mud cream colored?
I just bought a compound tube. How different are they? And do they work when the corners are not square? Because in my experience they never are, not perfect anyway.
I have never used a compound tube so I'll ask the same question to anyone who is reading this who has
A closeup after the taping run would be great. Papa Greg here🎥👍😎👊
This! You never see closeups of the finished mud application on any channel it seems, and I end up wondering if I'm spending too long trying to smooth it out. :D
Great to know I will keep that in mind from now on thank you.
How big of a deal is it to get some mud on the gold handle? Keep in mind I keep mine practically spotless but I’m curious
It's not a big deal. You can submerge the entire mudrunner, and it will be fine.
Hi Sr. I like all your videos but I am using the mud runner but I try to looking for extensions because most the times I have too doit on stills do you know anything about it!!!! Any way you do a great job I try to be like you thank for all your tips
Call Ames in warrenville they can get you the extension you need. Talk to Balinda tell her I sent you
I keep hearing you say skim angles, this is what I do .I embed the wet tape with a 2 inch flusher and allows it to completely dry then I run my angle box with a 3 inch tapetech head like you are using and I am done. Are you saying that you put a skim coat on this dried coat again ?
No you're doing it exactly like I would do it
I run mine for the first time tomoro I’ll let you know how it goes!
You said you have tried no pock…have you tried it with your all purpose taping mud? It keeps it really wet and oily when you get back to wiping the tape or squaring the corners
A good friend of mine. (In fact, his brother worked for me. ) worked for USG and would take samples of the wall where we would have problems. If they found any foreign particles, they would not have to warranty their product. They paid me to re-skim two houses because of their mud. If I had added no pocks it would of been my problem.
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 I ran the mud runner today I felt like a cub again lol. But got a whole house 21 roll house pumped in 4.5 hrs. It’s hard to clean those up on the job with no hose. I wasn’t able to get to the bottom of the white piece at the end of inside part of the tube where the head goes.
Another great video. I want to invest in these and try them but unfortunately I just don't have enough work to justify buying them. I hope I get to be able to eventually though. Also where's the camera man?
@Patrick McDonough what happen?
he was always taking selfies
Hey Ray, I saw a vid with Ames rep putting on corner bead with mudrunner and external corner applicator.......seems like it would be pretty fast and wouldn't have to drag hopper around and bend over......have you used your mudrunner to do corner bead?........seems faster but idk
I have the tool drags and is very messy
put the hopper on a bench and dont bend over
Makes sense.....
It looks like where corners meet, it was missing mud. How dip you get mud in there? Maybe I am mistaken
You still have to pick the corner by hand
After make the angles, wipe it required? as flat boxes? happy new year
Only the corner where the three angles meet
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 Ok, Thank you!. I forgot ask you...if angles need 2 coat? Or just 1 its enough?
Can you use the regular plus 3 in a flat box or is the pigmented plus 3 different.
Yes they are the same
Thanks
How do you feel about the spring assist box?
They look great have not tried one yet
Would be neat if you reviewed them.
I'll ask
Yo doc please help. Do u have to sand your level 4 job before u do your level 5 when u have to level 5 your ceilings
dust off I don't like sanding
Thank u i dont like sanding either but my boss decide to get a bright idea an send me two amateur an now im fucking sanding ugh lol but anyways i figure it out after my first ceiling it was so ruff im have to leave milledge on anyways my day suck. I havent sand in two years since i been following you
Love this tool. but make sure to put it to the side properly when not in use. Mine got knocked over by the clean up guy and if you think this tool cost a petty penny, wait till you have to buy an replacement tube...
I have been a pro taper for 21 years this year and ALWAYS put my machines FLAT on the floor when not in use and for cleanup guys ? I never let them in my space while working ( safety ).
Have you tried Dewalt mudshot yet?
Not yet really want to though
Same here .
What kind of mud are you using
Pigmented plus 3
Why is your compound yellow?
It's pigmented +3
It looks alot easier to use....some just can't adjust to something different....spend a lil time getting the feel for different tools....you want to work twice as hard because you won't spend the time to get used to different tool be my guest.....i do most all trades so I have to get used to different tools constantly....whatever is faster and easier wins everytime....if it takes more time in beginning to save hours down the road so be it
What kind of mud are you using?
He uses USG All purpose for taping (pre mixed) and USG Plus 3 tinted (non premixed mud) I'm pretty sure.
there both premixed
Its a machine screw....if you get threading correct it won't matter ...6/32 or 8/32 or ?....they all work same....the size and thread is all that matters and sure most are same in those auto tools
No not really I have a cabinet with 100-200 different screws just for the tapping tools.
Mine has been sitting in a corner for years. It doesn’t push the mud out fast enough. I can run circles around it with my angle box. There must be something wrong with my mudrunner.
There must be I skim angles with half the effort
THE DRYWALL DOCTOR I’m gonna send it in and see what’s up. Yours was working way too good to not give it another shot. Thanks for the vids. I’m a 20 year pro, you’re the real deal.
where can ibuy it
Al's taping tools, AMES, a lot of places. Tell them THE DRYWALL DOCTOR sent you.
They are pretty hard at first right ?
You have to get the mud consistency right and then no really easy
You should get a tall boy pump👍🏿
tyson marquette My thoughts exactly surprised he doesn’t have easier on the back for sure
Tall boys are nice but all you need is a bench. I use one of my work bench’s or painter scaffolding and attach a
c-clamp to the bench and pump, where you would put your foot, and it eliminates bending over. It’s such a great trick I can’t believe I never see anyone else using a similar method
The metaltech Painter scaffolding is great on a bigger job. You can put your pump at almost any height to make it very comfortable and you can load several premixed buckets as it can carry a large load. And all yours tools and just roll it along with you as needed
If you don’t have the rubber piece on the handle you definitely want will hate your mud runner.
Have you tried new dewalt "mudshot" mudrunner ?
No but I looked it up and it looks awesome.
Can u repeat in french please ? 👍👍
Subtitles?
So why are you saying skimming angles.
Because when I'm putting the second coat on with a 3-inch head and the mud Runner that is skimming the angles I'm not putting any more mud on after that
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 Thanks
dewalt mudshot far superior
I would love to try that!!
It takes years off my life when I use that. Makes a huge mess and I literally want to smash it with a sledge hammer. I should sell it but im too tenacious
It put years onto my life.
@@THEDRYWALLDOCTOR1 i guess if I just typed and used it every day I would get it down to a T. But im a carpenter by trade. Somedays im framing, or hanging cabinets. With that said I love my boxes. Just hate that mud runner.
Taped not typed
Another Mud runner video??? 😂😂😂
When are you gona retire buddy you looking tired
He's still faster than some of the young folks I worked with. And I like watching his videos so hopefully he continues for a while...
Do not retire your used to moving I tried it for two years it was boring I’m back at 67 although I don’t do production work for a slave outfit
