Finally a video with the same faucet I have...that leaks, (hot water) after I replaced the cartridge. I was afraid until this moment that I scratched the barrel, but cold water doesn't leak. So in the next couple of days I will try again to replace that cartridge. Shouldn't leak again if I coat it with silicone glue..right!
I had the same exact problem with a shower valve. Not only did the valve get stuck, but the rubber shredded when I pulled it out too. Again, I bought another off-brand valve and then the water wouldn't shut off. Just as I was ready to give up and call a plumber, your video came up on a search and PRESTO!...the genuine Moen part you recommended using worked flawlessly. Cb even the moen brand , some times gives you problems, i had to go back twice on a moen brand posi temp, rubbers kept falling off of cartridge. awsome job! sir , you learned and you taught us, thanks

So I don’t understand. . If my pull out head on my moen sink faucet is where it’s leaking, I should change the cartridge on the water turn on/off handle?
Great video. I was stuck trying to fix a bathtub with a Danko cartridge 1225 for about an hour, it's so hard to pull out those cartridges, and your video is a great lesson. Trying Moen in my next attempt. For the following question I guess the answer is NO, because of future leakage issues, but Is it ok to sand or drill inside the pipe walls to make fit the cartridge? Please let me know.

Just in case you have trouble getting the cap off the 7590. If it is the Oil Rubbed Bronze 7590 ORB handle, the cap screws (twists) off. No set screw or popping off. We used adjustable wrench and taped the jaws of the wrench to avoid scratching the finish and turned and turned. May take a bit but it will come off. Moen's website does NOT mention this anywhere.
Hey CB, i like the channel and appreciate your informative vids...Just one question.., ALot of your videos show work being done with no dropcloths or anything protecting customers sinks, floors, tubs, etc. Why no blankies or cloths to throw down. ??... Not picking on you, just curious. Im an apprentice up in Ocean county and that is the number one thing we have to do before starting to throw tools around
Chuck, I replaced the same authentic moen 1225 B cartridge. Everything went fine except the hot and cold swap. Tried to reinstall the cartridge multiple times. Still unable to fix the hot and cold side swap. Please suggest a tip
I had the same problem with the hot and cold being swapped. I fixed it by...Pulling the retaining clip and then used the white plastic tool and rotated the cartridge 180 degrees (did NOT have to remove the cartridge) and then I installed the retaining clip and reassembled. Presto bingo, hot is on the left and cold is on the right (single lever faucet). Good luck!
@@russlum3885 Heres a tip Russ there is an 1/8" hole in the outside end of the Moen cartridge for orientation ,,it always should be pointed up, while installing ,,,then you wont have to mess around swapping hot and cold, you'll get it right the first time.
Hey CB great video stinks to admit you make mistakes but it happens and you fix it. I was wondering what grease do you use? Everything went as planned with my replacement. However, I had the same issue with the weight of the handle closing the valve. You said not to forget the friction ring from the old cartridge. What and where is the friction ring. I am using a genuine Moen 1225. Thanks
