Replaced my cartridge on my Moen kitchen faucet but couldn’t figure out why my handle was so loose until I watched this video. Thanks fixed my problem!!
How to align the cartridge for the correct temp and reattach the handle and “it’s cap” were exactly what I needed!! Wish I had found you first! Lol thank you!
This was really helpful for me. My faucet has been leaking for 5 years, and I finally got it fixed. Yes!
Nice job - thank you!
Excellent video, helped me change my Moen cartridge, thanks!
This is my Exact faucet! Your video is amazing... as well as your tool!
Thank you for the tips! This was the exact information on the exact faucet I was looking for. It helped me take it apart and put it all back together again. Here's what I would like to share. Taking the cartridge out was the worst cartridge I ever had to take out. I was at a point of being on top of the sink, squatted and pulling upwards with a vise grip. Nothing! I didn't have time to look for your tool nor the time to order it so I went out to the hardware to find a quick puller which helped me but still it was hard getting the last Ince out. I strong armed the rest. This cartridge was in this casing for who knows how long? Years! It was a struggle but I finally got it out. What I found was the two black plastic pieces at the bottom of the old cartridge came off and that's probably what jammed it all up. The nut was black, not shinning like in your video and so I knew the mineral build-up was old. This time I soaked the loose parts in vinegar for a few hours. Cleaned it all up nicely. In the shaft of the casing I did have to take a tool and a rag to clean it out as I could feel mineral all over the walls. The new cartridge pretty much slipped right in and it was smooth from there on. Thanks again!
Great job - I appreciate the comments.
Great video! The cartridge was a bit tough to get out. Your instructions were perfect.
Saved my butt! Thanks a lot
That is my exact model faucet as well! I know from the plastic cap over the cartridge that the Model Name is "Chateau". I cannot, however find the Model Number, even on Moen's web-site. By any chance, do you remember the Model Number of that faucet? I strongly feel that the model has been "discontinued"! After all, it was purchased over 50 years ago. NOT critical, they are sending the cartridge, anyway!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! That was a perfect instruction. I could not find the extration tool for my drill but HD did have one that was used with a wrench. It all worked perfectly! Thank you again! Too bad my GF is in China visiting her parents, she would be SO proud of me (even though I cheated using the video, though I did tell her I did) !! 😁❤
Great video! Super helpful!
Change title to How to fix OLD Moen kitchen faucets and you may get more hits. Been searching for days for a video with this type of tap, this is the only one I found. The tool you have is more for Plumbers I think, you should market it commercially. Either way, I probably wouldn't have tried fixing this without your video and the way they installed it in my condo in 1995 makes it near impossible to change to a new one.
Thanks for all the information
Job went faster.
Thank you for this!!
Thanks a lot the job went very well with your help made up a puller with a three-quarter inch socket large washer with a small hole
A great step-by-step instruction for repairing a kitchen faucet. Cartridge replaced. You.👍👍👍. Sub.
Thanks - I appreciate your comment!
Moen usually provides a little packet of silicone grease to lube all of the rubber parts on the new cartridge to make it last longer and operate more smoothly. I didn't see this in your video.
Yes, it helps to lube the new cartridge when putting it back in.
great video. which cartridge remover should i use? i have a slow leak that pools with water coming up from the cartridge. will be able to fix and remove without a special cartridge removal tool?
Do you know the model number for the kitchen faucet you are working on here? I need to buy replacement parts. Help!
THYANK YOU GREAT VIDEO .
Great video Brandon. I happen to have that exact Moen faucet and also need the 1225 cartridge. Just wondering if you happen to have the faucet model. It doesn't appear anywhere on the faucet itself that I can see. I'm also having a lot of difficulty turning the retainer collar counterclockwise with channel locks to remove it so I can change the cartridge. Any ideas on how I can get if off without breaking the faucet stem?
It's just an old Moen Chateau - not sure which model...
Thanks
I have a similar Moen kitchen faucet (with the flat handle) but in my case the spout arm is very hard to rotate. It likely has a build up from over the years. How does that come off so one can clean it, change the o-ring(s) and re-lubricate? Do you have a video on that by chance ?
Hello Brandon
Great video.
What’s the name of the cartridge removal tool you used?
I would love to buy me one.
I make it myself. I call it the Lakeview Cartridge Puller. You can purchase it directly from my website.
www.lakeviewpuller.com
Just subscribed, your instruction were clearand professionally communicated. You save me a lot of bucks.
That sink was exactly the one I have, except mine is twin basins.
There is a slight sometime leak where the spout pivots. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you
That's probably the O-rings. I've heard that Moen also gives O-ring kits for free to the first owner, but either way, you can probably find it at Home Depot or a plumbing supply store. On most of these simple single handle fixtures, the spout can be pulled up once the ring that holds the cartridge is removed.
Thats crazy that Moen would produce faucet cartridge that would require invention to replace parts. How did you know it was Moen on old faucet?
Have to rebuild my moen single handle kitchen faucet. From the base up. Where does the retainer clip go back on?
If you watch this video at bout 3:20 you will see where I remove the clip from the faucet. Yours should be the same. Good luck!!
Hi Brandon, I just moved and have this style of faucet at my new place. The handle can spin 180 degrees and doesn't stop at a max hot and cold position. Is this normal for this style of faucet?
No, there is a small plastic piece that is broken or worn out on yours. Just take a picture of your faucet and go to your local plumbing supply house and they can sell you an inexpensive rebuild kit for it.
@@brandonseamons9642 Thanks so much! So is it a piece on the outside of the cartride? Because I replaced the cartridge, and it is still spinning.
Yes, it is a plastic stop that limits the handle from spinning around. It is separate from the cartridge.
@@brandonseamons9642 Thanks so much for your fast reply!
Hi. The plastic bit that the lever fits into cracked. Do I need to shut off the valves of I'm only replacing the plastic and lever? I ask cause the valves are frozen and may turn into a very expressive fix if I break those trying to shut them. (Done this before)
No, you can replace that plastic part with the water on. But if you try to pull the cartridge, you'll need to shut it off. Good luck.
Thanks! I didn't think so but had to check.
The screw on the black part on mine don’t come out and now it’s stripped I don’t know what to do cause it’s cracked and it don’t go down I have to push it from the back down what do I do
i could not get the cartridge out, but somehow, just taking everything apart up to that point, cleaning everything and reassembling managed to stop my drip, dang that cartridge seems impossible to get out
Thank you so much, Very helpful, Please I have a question: the faucet I
have is very similar to the one shown in the video. At the back of the
faucet head the reference is M7800, the difference is that it has a
spray hose, it's discontinued. do you know a cartridge reference
that matches the M7800. Thanks again.
Hi Brandon, thank you for posting. Great video, I have been putting off replacing my Moen cartridge just like that one. I have 2 questions, can replacement be done without the special tool, and does the lifetime Moen warranty apply to Canada?.
Great question. Yes, you can remove the cartridge without this tool - but it can be very difficult. That is why this tool is so valuable - you can remove several types of Moen cartridges in a variety of situations.
I just looked on Moen's website and yes it covers products in Canada. There are a few limitations to their warranty however. The number to call is 1.800.465.6130
Hope this helps.
where do i buy your tool
You can purchase directly from my website. www.lakeviewpuller.com
Thx, I was looking for it too.
This cartrdige is about $24 bucks at Lowe's... I just did a bathroom and noticed that the kitchen has the same problem..... back to work.
Great video but no need to buy that tool, moen provide a plastic tool with all new cartdrige to take it out
We fixed ours and it works but now the hot water is coming from where the cold water should be and cold is coming from where the hot should be.
That's an easy fix. Pull off the handle, rotate the brass stem 180 degrees, and put the handle back on.
Great video. I first time see such tool. I removed and installed few Moen cartridges with simple tool I got from Amazon and Home depot. I need to replace another one that is Legend Model 4400. That is using the same 1225 cartridge but I have no way to get into that point. I have another retaining clip but can not remove it. May be you will give me idea how to get it out?
Model# 98790 Moen Chateau
I have few pictures taken for such retainer ring.
Mine isn't leaking its kinda stopping when u turn it on it'll barely work but then kinda stop n ull have to redo it over & over again lol
Where do you order your tool??
You can purchase directly from my website .

Thanks
? no extra grease that's supplied?
Ty friend
I need help. Made it all the way to removing the handle but I couldn’t unscrew the next part. I think it is possibly corroded with water deposits. Any suggestions? I cleaned it up as best I could but it won’t budge. I was really hoping to do this job myself without a Plummer.
We used Wd40 on ours and it worked.
How can I purchase your tool?
😐 looks like mine, is leaking, 30 year old manufactured home....hope it goes that easy and nothing is siezed.
Good luck pulling the cartridge out.
What about if water's coming out of the base? Those faucets are cheap, man!
Shouldn’t be how to fix, no questions answered, should be called how to buy.
So this is a sales pitch. Because the only question answered is about buying this tool. Ugh.
On the newer stuff, c 2017 or so, just don't buy it. They are crap, little plastic cartridgette, poor instructions, missing tools in tool kit (T30), won't disassemble without a puller (also not included), and many reviews say it leaked in months, not years. Avoid this crap brand at all costs. They wasted so much of my time/money.
Edit your videos to take out the wasted time
@@SpaceManWyo I might have been grumpy that day. It was not an easy repair.
Hey Scott - sorry I took a while to see this comment. I'm sorry you think my video is too long. I am not a professional at making videos and I felt people who are interested in this content would like to see this work un-edited. When I am watching a how-to video, I always hate it when it looks too clean. But that's probably just me. Thanks for watching.
@@papalosopher you weren't grumpy. It's extremely difficult to pull out the cartridge. I've tried. My boyfriend has tried. I'm so frustrated to have to call a plumber or buy a totally new faucet. My faucet has been disassembled for days trying remove that cartridge.
