Yes - brand name does comes into it. You can buy a Skoda that’s built on the same platform as an Audi - shares the same engine, suspension etc. People will still pay a premium for the Audi badge, and people will pay extra for a Vespa knowing the company has been going successfully since 1946 (so parts will always be available etc).
