yeah, it is still a very short coverage of this event, i know some countries have their own transmissions, but where I'm from this is the only way i can follow the rally. Of course must be horribly complex to cover such a long rally in four languages, but i wouldn't complain of longer videos with raw footage of vehicles crossing the desert. Still I remember a couple of years ago with only 5 min of coverage every day, so at least it is a small victory
last year I remember it was 20min highlights.. even that wasn't enough.. it's not easy to put together the clips
@@HarkoretoDaBone-nf7ffNBCs youtube channel has 20-30min extended highlights, its doable but Dakars official channel is lacking.
That Nasser is an incredible human being. If you follow on some of the other channels, you will see his interaction with the general public. He seems to have time for everybody, signed a few caps from a fellow broadcast channel that they are then giving away in a lucky draw.
He makes Qatar very proud I believe
Would appreciate more truck coverage in the highlights. Now it’s just mentioning the winners for 10 seconds.
Just two minutes for the cars where legends like Sainz, Peterhansel and Loeb race, please we wait the whole year to watch them ride the rocks and dunes, please !!! I think we deserve better and most to all they, the dessert kings deserve better !!!!

Seriously, when did Dakar become all about the dirt bikes? I don’t understand why they focus so little on the cars. To me, they have always been the stars of the Dakar Rally.
It's probably because they don't want to compete and show more footage than all the TVs channels around the world that bought the copyrights...
Bikes/Quads: 3:31 to 6:00
Cars: 6:00 to 8:20
2.5 min for the bikes AND quads, and 2 and 1/3 min for the cars. Seems pretty even to me, and that's leaving out the other four-wheeled categories (trucks, Challenger class, etc.). If you want more footage of the cars alone, find a broadcast of the full stage.
Oh, and have a little more respect for the bikes to start with, yeah? They don't have a metal cage keeping them in one piece when shit goes wrong. Acting like they don't deserve an equal amount of coverage just because the riders aren't as famous as the drivers is a trash take.
The way these guys/girls masters the dunes, damn it’s s impressive to see them!

When you mention penalties would you mind explaining what the penalties were for, please? The odd time you mention one was for speeding. How do you get a penalty for speeding? Are there certain areas where there are speed limits?
When you see the stage previews like at 3:28 in this video. You will see "special" and "road section". The special stage is where they go flat out. Road sections are, well. Road sections.

I'm not really interested in the bikes, but it is amazing to me how they can read a road-book, while racing in a desert. Same with the quads.

oh wow, I got 8 seconds of coverage...I was being too optimistic with 43 seconds
8000 km of racing in total and there is about 30 minutes of actual racing footage to watch

Highlights people. It says it is highlights. So many complainers. I’m an Aussie and wouldn’t mind 10mins on Price but it is highlights. Good job to the team for the HIGHLIGHTS. You can not please everyone.
There is nowhere to watch anything close to “quality” race coverage. The coverage of this race is the worst of all motorsports.

I'm relatively new but are the bikes more popular? Personally, I'd like to see more of the cars and trucks but if they feel more people want to see the bikes, that might be why.
@@ikr9358 the cars use to be the most popular, but then there was a few dakars ago where the bikes started to get more screening. Now it's the main.

It's powered by a turbo petrol engine from the Audi DTM race cars.
It charges all the time itself by DTM Petrol engine.
The AUDIs are electric drive. To get the range necessary and lower the emissions it’s got a DTM 2.0L turbo running a generator to recharge the battery pack. Ingenious design.

Part of Dakar is the desert itself. Sure we could have 110% racing driving highlights but it does pay to slow down and understand what these drivers have to go through beyond just bashing dunes. Later highlights will certainly be more exciting, so let's take the slow with the fast.
The coverage is shocking. The SSV category gets almost no coverage but is th second biggest class
I know right and the bike class overview on every single stage highlight video takes half of the duration while cars, quads, buggies and trucks get very little time.
