- On Stage 8 of #Dakar2024 the 2023 winner Kevin Benavides took the victory, whilst it is still close in the overall with Ricky Brabec increasing his lead from one second to 42 seconds from Ross Branch.
After the disappointment yesterday of dropping out of contention to win this year's Dakar Mattias Ekström responded well to win Stage 8. Ekström's teammate Carlos Sainz made progress overall, increasing his lead at the top of the rankings to 24'47".

So far my favorite highlights video. Really excellent. Emotions, events, drama, music, footage, humor. Great!
I can't imagine how hard it is for the competitors to continue to race knowing that a fellow racer and friend has being killed and maybe they could be next, but there is nothing really that you can do, but to put on your helmet hold back the tears and keep pushing forward.
And I know how it sounds but, this Motorsport, this is Dakar people have died in the pass and unfortunately people will die in the future but the show always goes on.
And lastly if any relatives or friends of Carles Falcon get to read this comment, you have my truest condolences, and I am sorry for your loss.

770 competitors and always a focus on the leaders with unlimited budgets… would be more fun to the see the real warriors and hear their stories!

Condolences to the family of the fallen rider. The sport we love is inherently dangerous, and though everyone accepts the possibility that it could happen to them, the thrill of greatness and the beautiful experience that Dakar provides is ultimately worth it to the brave few who traverse it.
Thanks to everyone involved for keeping the participants safe. None of this could happen without the army of support staff that must make the operation tick.

He sure did. "Köttbullar" are a meatball classic in Swedish cuisine, and IKEA used to sell their own Köttbullar variant under this name in their stores' lunchrooms in many countries. As far as I remember, the name was changed in 2013.

Will they stay with X-Raid (although they will now run the Mini, which seems to have a hard time against the other T1+ guys) or will they move to either Toyota or Century? Or perhaps Prodrive will open more slots to them to drive the Hunter?

Dakar should consider their rights on Polish Eurosport channels. They stopped broadcast to us, Polish Dakar fans, 1 hour highlights videos since stage 6A. They are still on EPG but instead of them they keep going with snooker and tennis. Yesterday they even broadcasted live same tennis game on 2 of their TV channels! That's ridiculous! Dakar highlights are absent even on their online platform Player. Please do something with that, they are not respect the contract.

Most hardest toughest rally around
Only 10min highlights, and some of that wasted on trying to be funny with Camel Comedy and voice over rider warm-ups. Standards really have plummeted this year.

Childish. jokes that are just cringe.I'm sure it flies in the UK where it aligns with British comedy on TV, but these English LANGUAGE highlights go out to plenty more countries who just have zero appetite for Faulty Towers mixed into their motorsport.

Where there was a joke on a surname of a driver, there was a joke about his 4yo daughter and playing in the mud where trucks got stuck (with footage of a crewmember stumbling and falling in the mud - slapstick humor). And a joke about Sainz' insurance policy going up after a crash where he initially was airlifted away.

Go put together the list of occurrences from 2023 vs those from 2024, rate those by cringe value, and come back here to present it to the judge ... oh wait there isn't one, because it's just comments. It's not scientific study either ..., but guess what, for me it is less enjoyable this year than last .. which will determine whether or not I bother watching ... and the more people who do that, well that affects how much money sponsors put into the events and teams. The polish team used carbon clutch plates which are not allowed (to keep the cost down for everyone) in this category.
