Brother Dege is the Man!! When I started play guitar, I listened to Brother Dege ritualistically everyday.
This is the first I've heard about his passing. He actually used to correspond with me for a lil bit.. I was curious how he approached playing the blues so he started making these 'how to' videos.. the guy was very genuine towards me. This man had some GREAT music.
'The Girl Who Wept Stones' is a fantastic, underrated piece of music.
    RIP Brother Dege

Have you checked out AC/DC’s album with the self titled song, “Back in Black?”
Get the Back and Black record and check out the song by the same name. THAT song was huge and a big hit in the USA.

    Bro... Thank you. Sincerely.
I know it's not a normal reactions genre...
I was wondering which version you'd pick, there ARE several videos of this song out there, with this one being a bit different because it's live
I also appreciate the irony of his biggest song being "Too Old to Die Young", now... after his passing.
The world is a darker place without Dege... I appreciate you doing your part to spread his music.
I'm gonna miss his music a lot, I'm gonna mis him more.
    🤍💔🤍
I was a fan of Dege first... found his song "The Girl Who Wept Stones" (Still my favorite) on Pandora (lol)...
eventually he came to town on tour... not the whole band, just him, and acoustic guitar, and a drum pedal. a small intimate show.
I went to the show, got there WAY early wanting to just enjoy a night out and have a couple beverages before his set... and would ya believe it, Dege was sitting there at the merch table when i walked in... I was actually nervous to walk up and talk to him... his music had touched my soul, how do you put that in words.
But I did.... we talked... about everything.
Like we'd been friends our entire lives... we talked for well over an hour...
In this conversation, I told him a story.... about how his music had effected me:
2 years prior, I'd been in a VERY seriously motorcycle accident.
The first night in the hospital, the meds weren't doing much... sleep was simply not possible...
as I lie there broken, defeated... glad to be alive, but wondering what life would be like going forward, I listened to his song "Old Angel Midnight"... on repeat.
The refrain got me through the night:
    "Old Angel Midnight
Lead the way to the dawn.
    Tell me why
All the things I done went wrong"
He played for an hour, I sat with his girlfriend stage left... and marveled at his skill on guitar and his way with words.
During intermission he came and grabbed me and we went outside, talked more...
Then in his 2nd set... he played "Old Angel Midnight"... and dedicated it to me.
I cried.... never cried at a concert before LOL
Before he left that night he gave me his contact info
We stayed in touch in the years that followed... up until a couple weeks ago when he stopped responding.
He died a week before the release of his new album "Aurora".
I haven't been able to listen to it yet.... as, I know it's the last music I'll ever hear from him.

I didn't actually intend to write that big of a reply... I'm sure there's typos and stuff... But I'm just gonna leave it.
    Again man, thank you.
